Yeezus continues to walk next summernow... Kanye West Recruits Q-Tip & Rick Rubin for Upcoming Album ARTICLESNEWSTHE JUICE By Erika Ramirez, N.Y. | December 03, 2013 4:44 PM EST Only months after the release of "Yeezus" (June 18), Kanye West is prepping his seventh studio album. During an interview with Elliott Wilson for Life + Times, Q-Tip, who is working on a solo album of his own, "The Last Zulu," shared that him and Rick Rubin will be producing Kanye West's upcoming album: "I'm producing Kanye’s new album with Rick Rubin, I'm doing tha, so that’s coming up." Ye' told Philly's Power 99 that he's currently recording and hopes to release the album in the summer of 2014. "I haven't named my next album but I have started on it," he said. "I write down philosophies all the time. I have some thoughts and I just constantly... everytime I think of it I write it. I'm working on it." "I'd like to have another album out by next summer," he continued.
Ye' also confirmed that he has a remix with Miley Cyrus coming up. He didn't say if's a remix to his "Yeezus" single, "Black Skinhead," which reports stated in August. Rumors of the remix started shortly after Miley Cyrus' 2013 MTV VMA performance. www.billboard.com/articles/columns/the-juice/5812359/kanye-west-recruits-q-tip-rick-rubin-for-upcoming-albumThis may be too soon, but I thought it might be good to have updates for this project as they come in separate from Yeezus and whatever's done with that.

Only 4,500 people attend Kanye West concert at 18,000 capacity stadiumThe most shocking aspect of Kanye West's spectacular concert Tuesday night at the Sprint Center in Kansas City wasn't another suspect remark from the brash rapper. The meager attendance of less than 4,500 seemed inconceivably small for one of the most vital artists in popular music. West almost certainly could have filled the Sprint Center five years ago. Tuesday's poor attendance indicates how his scandalous love life, frequent impolite pronouncements and his gradual shift away from conventional hip-hop have alienated many of his fans. The thin turnout didn't deter West from fully investing himself in a visually extravagant and musical rewarding production. A ramped mountain dominated the set. Occasionally peopled by a red-eyed monster and a dozen enigmatic dancers, the imposing structure evoked H.P. Lovecraft's horrific "At the Mountains of Madness" more than the Space Mountain attraction at Disneyland. West seemed repentant during an engaging eight-minute monologue. "I don't always say the right things at the right time," West said. "I'm better at saying the wrong things at the wrong time." A transcendent moment occurred at the conclusion of West's "Jesus Walks." At the appearance of a costumed person West referred to as "white Jesus," West kneeled as he removed one of the masks he'd worn thoughout the concert. In a performance filled with bombast, the simple gesture seemed profoundly humble. Source

They ticket sales were kinda ugh in San Antonio as well. They are upgrading people who bought tickets to Floor Seats for free if they choose.

I'm with him that he has a reason to be pissed off, but they're also dumb thinking they have a defense in this case because of the kid's videotaped comments toward them. If the kid was injured, he has an even better defense since Kanye used unnecessary force to handle the situation. Kanye would have been best off ignoring him. If they really wanted to press charges for verbal assault (and let's be real, they wouldn't have), they could have recorded him and just kept it moving. Now if Kanye thinks it was worth whatever assault charges or money this is going to cost him, then that's a different story...

This child is forever getting a bad rep. Lol. He is not making this any better.
Anywho, I am pumped for this upcoming album. I hope it has some radio hits on it.

Yeezus wasn't a total disaster. I'm a casual fan at best, but I always love hearing what he comes up with.
That VOGUE cover is all kinds of extra though. I'm as impressed with it as I am annoyed.

I only listen to 2 songs off of Yeezus now; and that is I Am a God and I'm In It. Blood on the Leaves even lost it's luster after a while.

New Slaves and Black Skinhead are everything to me and always will be. I'm In It and Bound 2 are also still hot. Overall, it's still one of Kanye's best and most exciting works. It makes College Dropout look bloodless in comparison and still shits ALL over Graduation, which remains his worst album.

Lee, you are so on point about Graduation(although "Flashing Lights" & "I Wonder">>>>). It's funny that I listen to 808's more than Grad.

808s and Heartbreak had the best highlights of his career, but the duds were abysmal. Graduation is ok; The College Dropout I've never actually heard in full.
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is probably my favorite, but it hasn't aged that well for me.
Now that I think about it, I've never been overwhelmingly impressed by any of his albums in full.

I'd probably still put The College Dropout as my favorite album from him, with MBDTF & 808s coming up after.

I bet it took a lot of thought to come up with that reply. Continuing the fruitful dialogue, Graduation's biggest mea culpa (besides the most egregious, meaningless filler on a Kanye album to date - Drunk & Hot Girls and Barry Bonds, anyone?) was the decision to change Homecoming. Whoever thought it would be a good idea (most likely Kanye, let's be honest) to switch out John Legend for...Chris Martin should be tarred and feathered. I really should just remove that version and replace it with the original. I know Kanye was hellbent on proving he was more than lush orchestration and warm & fuzzy soul samples at that point, but why f**k with perfection. I can't COMPLETELY s**t on Graduation because it contained Everything I Am and The Glory, but I don't have much use for the rest and yes, that includes the singles. 808's was vital and a necessary purging at the time of its inception. Do I return to it often? No. But, I sure as hell respect it for what it is. Plus, I can never get those tribal noises and animal sounds from Amazing and Love Lockdown out of my head. Two of Kanye's best songs, wonky autotune and all. I'm also a sucker for Coldest Winter and Robocop. As always, I am on the edge of my seat to see what Kanye will do next. Rick Rubin is good for him.

Graduation was my second favorite album from him until MBDTF. MBDTF is probably his opus as far as creativity goes but The College Dropout is so smooth, refreshing and effortless that it will always be one of my favorite albums of all time and is definitely my favorite album from him. I feel like Graduation was the start of him experimenting with non-traditional sounds and concepts and even though there is definitely some filler (although don't come for Barry Bonds, the Meagan Good line alone is iconic) it has a lot of really great tracks to and some of his best.
I agree 808s was an important landmark for him but it's trash (well for Kanye, for most other artists it's just mediocre.) I haven't listened to any song off that album since maybe 2009. It's laughable to me that you could try to argue that 808s has the "best" highlights of his career.
Yeezus is abrasive, left field and unpredictable and while that took some getting used to, it's really another incredible album from him. Like I said in the Yeezus vs. GKMC thread, it's clearly a hip hop legend doing what he wants and how he wants it regardless of expectation or trends and even though it's not a technical masterpiece like TCD or MBDTF, it's a fascinating listen.
