This passed under the radar here but a month or so back, Billboard reported that Rick Rubin, the guy that worked with Johnny Cash on his American series, is producing their next record due out the end of this year.
I know this could get ugly but please keep discussion civil. I for one am estatic that the Chicks are coming back with what seems to be another root record. Their music rocks whether you agree with Natalie or not. And..I will go so far as to say that I think country radio will welcome them back just as they have Faith and Lee Ann.

I love the Chicks music. As all the hoopla happened, I pretty much decided I would keep buying their CDs and just not go see them live anymore. They are amazing musicians, in my opinion, but not great spokespeople :)

I still stand behind everything Natalie has said. I am an even bigger fan of them now than I was before the whole controvesary started. They really are brillant artists

Civil would be nice. I wouldn't bet on it happening.
I love their music, and I'm interested in what will happen to them on the charts. As for their politics: it's hard to avoid being drawn into commenting on other people's comments, but really this board is a bad place to look to for political discussion of any kind. If we just try to keep it to the music....

I love their music, and I'm interested in what will happen to them on the charts. As for their politics: Their politics aren't what did it for me. If I stopped supporting every entertainer who didn't like Bush, I would probably be stuck singing for myself! I got tired of the lack of class displayed by Natalie, even when it came to the whole stupid thing with Toby Keith and the shirt. I actually wrote a paper for my rhethorical theory class about Natalie and the 'fall of the Chicks. If anyone is interested, let me know and I will send to you.Anyway, I think if they just 'shut up and play,' the industry will 'take them back.' They bring a quality and an audience that is hard to ignore!

I'd like to see it. How do we connect?
I am very much looking forward to their next CD. My question, though, is not will country take them back, but will the Chicks even bother with the country audience? It seems to me they feel alienated and may not want to revisit that.

I can't wait for the Chicks to be back, country music needs their great music. As for the Toby/Natalie thing, it takes two to tangle and Toby was just as in the wrong as Natalie and in fact maybe more so. He was the one dragging it on with his fans at the concerts. The Chicks wasn't, I saw them in concert that year and they didn't mention Toby but Toby was showing that picture of Natlalie at his concerts.
Toby knew what he was doing and he used it too his advantage.

Looking forward to some new Chicks music - I have always loved their music and I think they are 3 very talented ladies - political views have nothing to do with music - let's get them back!

Whether or not they get a healthy fraction of Country airplay from here on out, I believe the Dixie Chicks will still keep going strong in terms of fanbase support and touring revenue, and I wouldn't cancel out sales either, though some more strongly conservative audiences will still not forgive them or move on.
Triple A as it is plays plenty of bluegrass and alternative-country artists, like Mindy Smith and Nickel Creek, so I think Triple A could make a great new home for the Dixie Chicks in promoting singles, with AC and Hot AC probably also open enough to promote.
Triple A is often regarded to be a meaningless, microscopic format, but it should never be underestimated. Artists like Jack Johnson and John Mayer first took flight here, and, well, you know the rest of their stories to date.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Look like no Dixie Chicks cd this year---
The Grammy-winning Texas trio will release a new CD in 2006, says Kathy Best, their publicist. “They are in the studio working on new music and I know they have been writing songs,” she says. The group is working in Los Angeles with producer Rick Rubin, who has worked with artists such as Jay-Z and Johnny Cash.
That comes from American Profile

Can't wait to hear new music from the Dixie Chicks. "Landslide" was a massive hit on my chart a few years back.
As for the political comments, I am neither for nor against Bush. Ha!

can't wait for a chicks album again! Hey, do any of the "regulars" on this country board think it's interesting how this particular thread has generated new blood from fans of other formats? I like it and think it says a lot about the chicks' music and image. p.s.--totally off topic, but upsilon, I'm a huge family guy fan, too! hilarious!!

-- Word is, the powerful song, "I Hope," performed by the Dixie Chicks on the recent "Shelter From the Storm" telethon, will be included on the trio's upcoming album, scheduled for release later this year. [Country Nation]I received a picture of a banner at Wal-Mart that had them down for an October 11th release of some sort--single or album. I heard from several sources that the album was set for a February release. They have been working all summer with Rick Rubin in L.A. , but I didn't think it was scheduled for 2005. I think we would have heard something if it was the album in October, which leads me to believe they will have a new single out soon. I can't wait. Like their opinions or not, these girls are wonderfully gifted.

I hope has been released to digital downloads as of this morning. I already downloaded it. I watched the Katrina special, and I didn't really like the song then, but it's ok now. Hey, it's the chicks! I honestly don't see it going better than top 20 if it even cracks the top 40 tho. NO spins at country radio yet.

The Dixie Chicks seem to get better with every release. I would even go as far as saying "Home" is the best country album in a half decade. So I have very high expectations for this upcoming project.
