We have four female artists (I included Sugarland... 2/3 women) in the top 10 right now! It's gotta be at least several years since that's happened. I think country radio is finally starting to get it. billboard top 10 4/16/05: #5 baby girl - sugarland (which u count) #6 my give a damns busted - joe dee m #9 homewrecker - gretchen w #10 i may hate myself in the morning - l.womack billboard top 10 8/28/04: #3 whiskey lullaby - duet with allison krauss #6 girls lie too - terri clark #9 suds in a bucket - sara evans #10 here for the party - gretchen w

Whoops... haha... guess it hasn't been too long. Anyway, cool nonetheless.

It's still pretty rare. Thanks for pointing it out! I love seeing it, since I'm more partial to female country vocals anyway. I wonder if Gretchen's huge success has had something to do with breaking down some of the male dominance of the upper reaches of the charts that seemed to be the norm for awhile.

Or maybe they are realizing that women are just as good as men music wise and connect just as well, if not better, with the listeners. lol

This is great to see, but things SHOULD be much brighter insofar as the ladies are concerned.
If it were up to me, Jamie O'Neal would already be in the top 10, with Lee Ann Womack in hot pursuit......

Musicfan_84---Since you're a Mediabase subscriber, would you PLEASE post a link to their Country Gold listings????
Thanks a LOT for this link; I'm going to be using it quite a bit!!!!!!
With Sara Evans at #1 and Jamie O'Neal and Gretchen Wilson in the top 10 today (9-30-05), here's hoping that more females will be entering the top 10, or at least wind up among the 10 most played artists of 2005, which is going to be dominated by the males AGAIN this year!!!!!

It's too bad that no song by a female vocalist (excluding Sugarland's first two singles) will finish in R&Rs top 10 for the year; 'My Give A Damn's Busted' won't quite make it!!!
Well, there's always NEXT year, huh?
