"One Of Those Nights" hit #1 shortly after. Two Lanes Of Freedom was released February 5th (hitting #1 on the chart dated February 23rd), and "One Of Those Nights" hit #1 on the chart dated March 9th. Tim also did the same thing with Southern Voice. The second single, "Southern Voice", was released about a month before the album was.

I wonder if they will change the name of Tim's album. I know some bloggers have pointed out what a "Sundown Town" is. If you don't know, google it. Let's just say the song "Accidental Racist" applies here...

They definitely didn't do it intentionally, but still.

Oh wow. In all fairness to Tim, I had never heard that term before, but that album title absolutely has to change.

Either that or retool the lyrics. Nothing good can come of including it on the album.

The name of the album is "Sundown Heaven Town" (not that that's much better, but still). That's the name of the tour as well. It's a lyric from "Lookin' For That Girl".

Good point. I also noticed that Eric Church's "Outsiders" is not on there either, and according to Billboard's Top Country Album charts, Outsiders is still #2, so maybe the labels are deciding what can go to spotify on a case-by-case basis. Yes, that's all based on artists' power and control so even if Garth Brooks allows his songs to iTunes as "album only" downloads at some point, don't expect them to ever be on Spotify. I'm fine with that, Garth is always worth buying ;)

Bummed out there is no love for Ronnie Dunn . For all that don't know his sophomore album "peace love and country music" and iTunes doesn't even have on country home page. Nor did they have it when it became available for preorder a few months ago. I know he's stepped on some toes in Nashville but i thought he'd get more recognition. Maybe lack of true radio single? His label didn't promote album very well either IMO. Will give the album a listen soon!

I don't care for some of the songs but I feel like the album is pretty solid overall. For anybody that wants to the CD but not enough to pay 12 bucks on iTunes it is $6.99 right now on Amazon MP3

His label didn't promote album very well either IMO. Will give the album a listen soon! I saw that he posted something on Facebook about his worries about album sales. Earlier when I went to the store to pick up Martina's new cd, I figured I may as well buy Ronnie's as well because I really enjoy him and want to support him. However, I didn't see his cd anywhere in the store. I was shocked; you would think that Ronnie's name would carry enough weight to at least get the stores to carry some physical copies of his new cd on release day, regardless of hits. Something just seems really off about this situation... I mean, you would think he would compare somewhat equally with Martina. She has no major label support and no singles, yet everyone seems to be carrying her album, and it is still at #1 on the iTunes Country chart for now. Whereas Ronnie actually has had a small amount of success with "Kiss You There", so people should be aware of his new music and want to buy the new album regardless of how quickly his star power is fading. Anybody have any explanation for this? Has he stepped on toes THAT badly in the industry? Edit: The only store I went to is Target, so I suppose it is possible that Wal-Mart is carrying Ronnie's cd or something. I just feel really bad for him though, because there is definitely going to be a negative effect on album sales if major retailers are not supplying his music. He is one of the best vocalists in the genre, and it is sad to see him struggling with his career as much as he is.

I may be wrong, but I don't think Ronnie's album is being produced physically, at least not in that many copies. I highly doubt Wal-mart, Target, or Best Buy will have it. Ronnie's Facebook page has been urging fans to buy it through his own website or through Country Outfitter (he seems to have formed a partnership with them), or to get it on iTunes. Not having it out there physically at most major stores will probably hurt some, but he's probably saving money from manufacturing costs as well.
He has definitely stepped on some toes but I don't blame him for it. The people he upset were mostly radio folks, though, and not retailers. I think retailers would carry the album if Ronnie made it available to them but I think he simply chose not to do so. And he has also made it clear that he's not going to chase after radio anymore...he sees way too much corruption within the corporate system to play that "game" again.

Ronnie's physical album is only available in Country Outfitter stores or online through their website or his. The digital download is available on Itunes and Amazon.

Jamie can't catch a break when it comes to her album releases. Between her, Kellie Coffey, Rebecca Lynn Howard and Amy Dalley there are some great albums that will never see the light of day.

I really dislike the uptempo songs, but he's got some great slower songs on there. I'm curious to know how many people actually knew his album came out? It was like during the later part of last year when he was talking about releasing all this stuff, then nothing happened and I honestly missed the April 8th announcement in the middle of all his radio/conspiracy theory rants. It was only a couple days ago that I finally realized that it was being released, some of which is my fault as I've gone back and seen that he's put the date out there several times, but I feel like I need a super special decoder ring to follow what he says on facebook and twitter. I do find it odd that the only way to get the physical cd is through his website or Country Outfitters (which he noted told him that there were only 100 or so pre-orders! It's not a typical music outlet so I don't know if that number is good or bad, I'm still leaning towards not good.) when I would think a good chunk of his target demo is still into buying physical copies. But as jhomes pointed out, he doesn't have to deal with the manufacturing costs doing it this way. Hopefully word of mouth helps this out some.

I knew the album was coming out and was really excited about it. There are 4 songs on there that I wish he would have replaced with something with more substance. They are Country This, Cowgirls Rock n Roll, Let's Get the Beer Joint Rockin and Kiss You There. Three of them are flat out bro-country. I like the rest of the album but would have liked some more songs that were traditional country. His rendition of You Don't Know Me is phenomenal. He's been singing it live and I'm glad he didn't add a bunch of production to the recorded version. You are correct that Peace, Love and Country Music are only available at Country Outfitter, RonnieDunn.com and several digital download sites.

So far 2014 has brought us incredible new albums from Roseanne, Sara, Jo Dee, and Martina, with expected (also incredible, of course) albums from Jamie, Lee Ann, Trisha, and Terri. What an absolutely wonderful year this is shaping up to be! It seems to be the year of middle aged women kicking butt and showing the industry how it's done, with or without chart success. Come on Faith, Reba, and Shania! You know you want in on this!

It stands up with the best of her work. Speaking of Reba, this is the 20th anniversary of her incredible "Read my Mind" album which is personally one of the most influential albums I have ever bought. It came out when I was 13 and I was hooked.

Lee Ann Womack has just signed a deal with Sugar Hill Records, (where Dolly also recorded a couple of fantastic albums), and will release an album in September!
