^ I really like "Let Her Go" and I always thought it has some kind of a country vibe in it.

^Ah, so it's more of an EP than an album. I like that cover, though.

OD released an EP (only digital?) with some of those songs on it just a few months ago, right?

Reba's office is still gonna deny the project in every which way possible. But her label has said she's got a number of songs on hold, and the Starstruck Writers Group has been getting together more and more so I'm sure they're working to write songs for her. Wouldn't it be super weird if they kept denying it and then she pulled a Beyonce? It would literally be shocking. ;) I've heard a fair amount about the project she's working on and as of right now there is one project on the table but looks as if a second is coming up quickly. Starstruck is flexing its muscles lately trying to show what it can do. 1st its released music without her label. 2nd They have started doing more work on music videos. Her team is cheap and are looking for something viral to do a lot of the attention grabbing for them. I wouldn't be surprised if Reba did a Beyonce album drop. I also wouldn't be surprised if that surprise album isn't under Valory ;)

Karyn Rochelle released her new album today on iTunes and Amazon. She's opening for Garth and Trisha, too.

Interesting that the Karyn Rochelle album has a lot of songs she wrote for other artists. That said, I like the originals much better of the ones I recognized (Sara Evans, Trisha Yearwood, Terri Clark).

Found this tidbit in the BCU tonight:
That's...interesting. They're signed to Atlantic/Warner Music Nashville and their debut single for the label, "Hangin' Around", impacts on September 29 (it'll be promoted by the new Warner imprint WEA).
I guess I was assuming that Atlantic/WMN wouldn't release a new Josh Abbott Band record until they broke through nationally with a top 20 hit, but apparently they're planning otherwise. Perhaps they feel that the album will sell well enough and that any radio success will just add fuel to the fire? After all, JAB isn't a typical new act. They've got a pretty big fan-base already, and their independently-released 2012 album Small Town Family Dream debuted at #5 on Billboard's Top Country albums.
They're fairly well-known, particularly in Texas, and they've done a lot of touring as well as opening for other acts.

I had planned on just buying a digital copy through iTunes cause (a.) I'm extremely lazy & like instant gratification. And (b.) I had doubts if Walmart would even bother carrying it. Throwing in George Jones & Porter Wagoner bonus track's will definitely force me to make a Wally World trip on the 23rd though.

A strong opening week of album sales could really spur interest in the new single - make stations talk about Hangin' Around that might not otherwise take note of it right away. I know I'll be picking up a copy of the new album - Small Town Family Dream was really strong, and I liked the RatetheMusic survey I did on their new music.

I like the strategy of releasing an album regardless of whether or not there's a hit single. It never really make sense to me when songs are out for on 25 to 30 weeks without an album to purchase. I understand they may not always sell a lot of copies, but surely some copies sold are better than none.

This album will be an EP. I thought that might be the case, but then I figured Billboard might mention that. And I couldn't find anything out about it online, either.

Slightly disappointed that only 3 "new" songs are on there, as most of those are from Between The Pines. And it's also interesting that he's still including Cop Car on this. Thanks for the update!

Too bad that Taylor Swift has gone Pop and that Carrie Underwood will probably not release an album in 2014. Country album sales need HELP. Country album sales are down 22.7% in 2014. One, though not the only, reason country album sales are so far down for the year is that Luke Bryan aside, there weren't many carryover releases from 2013 that sold strongly into 2014 compared to the previous year's comparable tracking period. The highest selling fourth quarter 2013 albums from the country genre were both essentially seasonal -- the Duck Dynasty Christmas album and Garth Brooks' Walmart-exclusive box set. There was a parade of B- and C-list male country artists who released albums, but B-listers like Chris Young and Jake Owen underperformed while Justin Moore's sales tailed off after a strong first week, while newer names like Tyler Farr and Thomas Rhett failed to make a mark as album sellers. This September and October are packed with upcoming high profile country releases from Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Florida-Georgia Line, and Little Big Town, and Garth Brooks will presumably release his comeback album in November. So even without Taylor and without a 2014 Carrie album, I'm expecting fourth quarter 2014 country album sales to be much stronger than 2013 fourth quarter album sales. Not enough to completely make up the shortfall compared to 2013, but at least enough to bring the decline in country album sales in line with the overall market decline, and maybe enough to allow the country genre to outperform the overall market decline in 2014.

Country album sales are down 22.7% in 2014. I think this has more to do with a weak release schedule thus far this year than anything else. There were virtually no albums during the summer (usually there aren't many, but this year there were fewer than normal) and the early part of the year saw only a few big-name releases. But the album sales should really explode in the next 3-4 months. Lee Brice Dustin Lynch George Strait Tim McGraw Kenny Chesney Lee Ann Womack Big & Rich Blake Shelton Lady Antebellum Jason Aldean Florida Georgia Line The Swon Brothers Little Big Town Sam Hunt Darius Rucker Garth Brooks Trisha Yearwood I think that's all the big albums that are confirmed between now and the end of the year. ETA: Ha! 43dudleyvillas and I were posting at the same time!

"American Kids" has been pretty popular, and he took a decent enough break to record this material. I could see him having a big album opening. FL/GA Line might be able to sell 500,000 in the first week, or they will at least be pretty darn close.
