I wonder if part of the reason they're being so quiet on details is they're waiting to see if another huge name drops a single right after the first of the year, giving them a bit of flexibility to push back a week if necessary. Rihanna, Britney, Madonna are all poised to release at any time, and Adele could surprise everyone and drop something sooner than expected.

Of that list, I think Rihanna is the only real wildcard to look out for. She's clearly coming soon because she just started doing some kind of #r8 promo in Europe. But Kelly and Britney are both RCA so of course the label will make sure there is no conflict there. Both RCA and Columbia (where Adele is) are under the Sony umbrella so I am sure RCA execs could quietly sniff around and find out if there's any chance Adele would drop her single on the first week of the year....not to mention Adele is the kind of looming storm that you can't really avoid or prepare for anyway, so you kind of just have to suck it up and go when you can. And Madonna is a legend and all, but lbr, she isn't a real cause for concern.

Kelly will outsell all of them combined on first day, so I'm not quite sure why you're being such a hater.

Kelly Clarkson Says New Album Will Be "Uplifting" and "Empowering"Kelly Clarkson hasn't released an album of all-new, non-holiday material since 2011's Stronger, but she'll have a brand-new record coming out in 2015. What will it sound like? Well, she describes it as "uplifting" and "empowering" and says that, music-wise, it's got "a little bit of everything." At a Nashville press conference on Thursday to talk about the benefit concert she's holding on Saturday, Kelly was asked to describe the album, and at first, she decided to make a joke. "It's amazing. And you're going to love it," she cracked. "You're gonna be like, 'This is right on up there with John Lennon, Imagine. I guaran-damn-tee it!" Then, she backtracked, just in case anyone thought she was serious. "It's not Imagine. Sarcasm!" she laughed. "But we can aim!" Then, getting serious, Kelly said of the new album, "It's an uplifting record. I've always been a person about empowerment and doing empowering songs. There's empowering songs on the record and there's a lot of positive on there." But Kelly has switched back and forth between pop and country in the next couple of years, what can we expect as far as the genre? "There's all kinda of genres," said the Nashville-based singer. "I'm obviously affected by the community I live in so there's a little bit of everything. It's a great record." No word yet on a release date for Kelly's album, which will be her first regular studio album since getting married and becoming mom to daughter River Rose. Source

Hearing it described as being "a little bit of everything" doesn't really excite me. I wish she'd do something a little more cohesive for once. It sounds like we're getting Stronger Pt. 2. Hope I'm wrong though.

A little bit of everything is Kelly's strong suit to be honet. She is the vocal chameleon after all. Why not show off that versatility?

Will tomorrow's show be up for streaming ? I imagine there will be loads of fan videos, but since we have seen little HQ KC performance all year, I'm thirsty. I'm praying that she sings 'Winter Dreams' and 'Every Christmas' tomorrow. ETA:

Hope I'm wrong though. An orchestra was mentioned and she's working with some different producers. I'm hoping for cohesive material later on, but there was no reason to expect that this time around. Even I refuse to be negative at this point.

I'm sorry, but when has she NOT said that an album is a little bit of everything ?! She describes every single album like that, yet each one is unique in its own way.
Kelly described this record as amazing! She didn't really say that about Stronger! She just said she was satisfied with it and that it was SONICALLY her best one! Hearing her being excited about this one and how awesome she thinks it is, is reason enough to be super excited about it.. On the other hand I'm excited about ANY new KC material!

Kelly Clarkson's 'Miracle' is the all-star show of the yearby Dave Paulson, dnpaulson@tennessean.com 10:58 a.m. CST December 20, 2014 Leave it to Kelly Clarkson — the rare pop singer whom everyone can agree on — to put together one of the biggest and broadest all-star concerts Music City has seen in years. The local resident has called on a cast of country, pop and rock stars to perform with her at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday night. These nine artists — all of whom either live in Middle Tennessee or spend substantial time here — are capping off a memorable year, both professionally and personally. Let's review: Kelly Clarkson: The inaugural "American Idol" champion turned pop/country mainstay probably will be performing songs from her first Christmas album, 2013's "Wrapped in Red." In June, she and husband Brandon Blackstock welcomed their first child, a daughter named River Rose. Garth Brooks: In case you hadn't heard, Garth came back in 2014. The country superstar officially ended his 13-year "retirement" with a new album, "Man Against Machine," and a comeback tour that kicked off with 10 consecutive arena concerts in Chicago. Trisha Yearwood: Not to be outdone, Brooks' better half released the new album, "Prizefighter," on which she revisited her biggest hits and cooked up several new ones (Clarkson joined her on the title track). She's also sharing the stage with her husband throughout the arena tour. Reba McEntire: Fresh off being named a "NASH Icon" at the American Country Countdown Awards (where Clarkson and Miranda Lambert paid her tribute), Country Music Hall of Famer McEntire is looking forward to the future. Her new single, "Going Out Like That," hits iTunes on Jan. 6. Ronnie Dunn: The country artist recently made headlines and thrilled fans with the news that he and Kix Brooks would be reuniting Brooks & Dunn for a new Vegas show with McEntire — who, by the way, is Clarkson's stepmom-in-law. Kacey Musgraves: The critically acclaimed singer-songwriter picked up Grammy Awards for best country album and best country song earlier this year, and she's also made waves in the pop world, opening for Katy Perry on part of her "Prism" arena tour. Hayley Williams: The frontwoman for Franklin-born rock giants Paramore just picked up a special "Trailblazer" award at the annual Billboard Women in Music Awards, and her band released a deluxe edition of its chart-topping 2013 album, "Paramore." Charles Esten: The actor and musician who plays fictional country musician Deacon Claybourne on ABC's "Nashville" has been staking a claim as the real deal, especially in recent months. He performed his own original song on the show's season premiere in September and is a regular sight on the stages of the Grand Ole Opry, 3rd & Lindsley and Station Inn. Meghan Trainor: One year after she moved to Nashville from Massachusetts, the 20-year-old singer-songwriter has become one of pop music's brightest new stars, thanks to the runaway success of her debut single, "All About That Bass." Follow-up tune "Lips Are Movin" is climbing up the charts, too. Contact Dave Paulson at 615-664-2278 and on Twitter at @itsdavepaulson. If you go What: Kelly Clarkson's Miracle On Broadway, a Benefit Concert. Proceeds benefit Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, Monroe Harding Children's Home, Second Harvest Food Bank and Thistle Farms. When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday Where: Bridgestone Arena (501 Broadway) Tickets: $29.75 and $49.75 at Ticketmaster Info: www.kellyclarkson.comwww.tennessean.com/story/entertainment/music/2014/12/16/kelly-clarksons-miracle-star-show-year/20506047/
