ROTFL I don't know if the ones voting for Ke$ha are being serious or sarcastic. Either way, such a sad time and a sad generation. Imagine if people choose Madonna over Whitney as a better vocalist back in the day. What has this world come to? PS. Invalid thread. Yeah, I thought the "Better Dancer: Britney vs. Beyonce" poll was pretty redonkulous but this one takes the biscuit!

Bolded says it all. People continually think they know Christina and say what a bitch she is, which in turn allows them to downplay her vocal ability. Let me know when Ke$$$$ha has the ability to record a performance like that of "Say Something." Well, Christina is a bitch, as evidenced by the past 4 years. Her vocal ability is easy to downplay as evidence by what she's brought to the table in the past 4 years. Third and finally, any decent female vocalist could give a performance identical, or even better, to the one she gave on "Say Something." Put some emotion into a basic duet part and voila.

^^ I agree about 'Say Something'- vocally, it's minimally challenging to begin with and becomes even less so as a duet. For example, the rendition famously sung by the X Factor contestants is as good or better than original, which speaks to its level of difficulty.

I'm afraid the whole "Christina gets unfairly dogged about her vocals because she's perceived to be a b*tch" just doesn't fly. Not least, because it's entirely the opposite. Christina's vocals are entirely overrated by the general public because she used to be somewhat of a force vocally ten years ago, because her PR team jumped on that back then, and have managed to on the whole bury the fact that she's barely any better than Whitney was in her final years, today.

What about "The Prayer" and "Hoy Tengo Ganas De Ti" though? Don't tell me singing in Italian and Spanish is easy! :o

^^ Agree with Jack- I could care less about her personality when objectively rating her vocals. I LOVE this stuff and honestly wish there were more polls on this board comparing/contrasting vocals, because I quite enjoy reading various opinions. As far as the videos posted above me, learning to sing a song in another language makes Christina a terrific memorizer, but good vocalist, since quality of the vocals are independent of the language being sung. Please listen to the 'The Prayer' (live) with Chris Mann. The first 30 seconds of her singing is absolutely beautiful, but she somehow managed to turn a gorgeous, big, operatic song into a scream/strainfest, IMO because she tried to "belt" in the upper 4th/lower 5th octave when she no longer can do so.
Not to be a broken record, but Christina's vocals in the third and first half of the fourth octaves are well in the Top tier (perhaps top 3) among mainstream female vocalists today, but her vocals after that range are in the bottom half of vocalists (her tone is the bottom quartile, period with that nose/throat singing). Her head voice (not falsetto) is virtually non-existant. ~ 7-8 years ago, I used to rank her in the Top 2 vocalists above Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, and Carrie Underwood, all of whose vocals today are in 1-2 leagues above Christina's. Today, I would not even rank her in the top 10 mainstream female vocalists (Lady Gaga outsang her recently). For this reason, when folks refer to her as the "voice of her generation" (or whatever), I actually take pity on her because she is set up for failure trying to live up to that (former) hype since she has fallen so far as a vocalist.

Christina's vocals are entirely overrated by the general public because she used to be somewhat of a force vocally ten years ago, because her PR team jumped on that back then, and have managed to on the whole bury the fact that she's barely any better than Whitney was in her final years, today. To be fair, that happens with a lot of the vocal greats. Whitney, Mariah, Aretha... None of them in recent years were able to sing anything like they could at their peak, but they are/were still referred to as vocal greats based on what they used to be able to do. I guess the difference is Christina ruined her voice much more quickly, because she started using horrific vocal techniques shortly after she debuted. Christina probably gets a pass despite how quickly her voice went downhill because she was singing like that at a time when Ashanti and Jennifer Lopez were ruling the charts.

LIVE vocals from KWEEN Ke$ha, I like Ke$ha, but seriously if you're going to say she's better than Christina then listen to this!
(Don't say that Christina can't sing, sure she has control problems, but at least she can sing!)

Pardon my ignorance, but what differentiates head voice from falsetto in a female singer's case?

I voted for Kesha just cause I feel like trolling. This poll can't be serious though right?

As a part of the pm in which this idea originated I can confirm it is in fact serious.
The answer is still Ke$ha. Anyone who votes otherwise is a blind stan and a hater with hearing-AIDS.

I'm taken aback by how mean some of you are being to me here. I don't know which post to report first.

Christina. I know she has a history of over-singing, which has a lot to do with why "Ain't No Other Man" has not aged very well with me, but when she tones it down the girl can SANG! She'll always be one of my favorite vocalists. Ke$ha, on the other hand, is not the worst vocalist I've ever heard (that honor would go to another female pop star who I'm not naming ), but she shouldn't even be compared to Christina in my opinion.
