...Is this poll a joke? Everyone knows Christina can sing circles around Ke$hit and anyone who says otherwise knows they're full of shit.

Anyone who believes Xtina could even sing circles around Rebecca Black is full of shit tbh.

A wide vocal range does not a good singer make.
Or something.
People need to realize that.

Christina's voice does tend to go around in circles looking for a note to finally land on, I'll grant that.

I looked up The Harold Song live (my favorite Ke$ha song) and it kind of confirmed what I already thought - she doesn't really flex her range, but she can stay on key and emote. She knows her most comfortable range and she sticks to it. Upbeat songs are not her friend until she learns to move and sing at the same time...but Christina has that problem too. They're both inconsistent.
I would probably vote for Christina in the end on the tiebreaker that her current good moments > Ke$ha's good moments, but it isn't the runaway victory that it should be.

My choice would be Christina. Taking everything into account, I still have to side with Christina. Her voice has deteriorated, but I don't think Ke$ha's is better by any means. However...... I'm a fan of Carrie Underwood, Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey... so both these basic bitches sound like screechy cats to me, if I'm being completely honest.

Speaking of The Harold Song, the Deconstructed Version is a good example of her natural voice. Yea, I concede that her tone is polarizing but she knows her voice, she knows her limits and she works really well within them. There are literally tons of youtube demos/songs of her singing live or acoustically where she actually proves she has a voice. I prefer her voice raw to the autotune that happens on most of her songs, like this live performance of C'mon is better than the studio recording. That's something I have NEVER said for Xtina in over 5 years.

I dunno, I've been listening to some live performances of Ke$ha, and while decent to good, I still don't think it's anywhere the level of Christina. If I had to break it down, it would go something like this:
Range: Christina by far. Tone: This is subjective, but this is Christina for me. She just has a more pleasant and unique tone that sounds more special. Control: I would give this one to Ke$ha. Power: Christina. Her voice just SOUNDS more powerful. Vibrato: Is this a category? I would pick Christina though because she actually uses vibrato. I haven't heard Ke$ha use it in a song or live. All the great singers like Mariah, Whitney and Aretha use vibrato. Consistency: They're about the same in this category.
So really, Christina wins all except control and maybe consistency as well. And tone for some people since it's subjective. I know a lot of people here hate her and her music, so I feel some are a little biased towards her. But she's clearly the better singer. I'm glad she's pulling ahead in the poll too.

Christina.
Ke$ha makes excellent use of her voice and she definitely sings at her fullest potential. But even with her bad performance streak lately, Christina still has the potential to outshine Ke$ha in nearly every vocal category and still often does. In any instance that she shows any restraint and control, Christina is the clear winner. Her performances for Say Something alone trumps anything I've ever heard Ke$ha do. I tried, I listened to K$'s live performances, and I just don't see it.

The most impressive thing about Mariah's voice is that it can do anything vocally, runs, grunt, low and high notes, glide effortlessly that butter like tone and not forced like a banshee giving birth to a big headed baby. Mariah can sing, that's all I have to say on this subject!

Lol, Christina almost never has vibrato on any of her belts.
And you guys are sleeping on Ke$ha's range. Her range is roughly C#3-E6. More than three octaves. Her highest (studio) chest note is F#5. That's not a limited range at all. For comparison, Xtina's highest (studio) chest note is only one note higher (G#5). Food for thought.

Don't really care how Aguilera neglected her vocal chords in recent years, her vocals on "Fighter" and "Hurt" trump anything K$ has ever done. I do love Ke$ha's voice on Love Into The Light though.

Good for Xtina for learning how to strain her voice a little less by dodging almost all fifth octave notes. MY GIRL!

I cannot believe you are talking about strain with Demi Lovato all over your profile. The IRONY! And where in this poll's title is Demi's name? Get. Out. Only the weak resort to using logical fallacies. You may keep your ad hominem fallacy, dear. Because regardless of your opinion on Demi, My December is still the inferior album when put aside ARTPOP. Xtina can't reach fifth octave notes without straining, among other faults, which makes her an inferior vocalist to Ke$ha. And THAT is what this poll asks.

How boring. I don't care about "octaves" and whatever terminology you throw about. This asks who is the better vocalist, which entails things such as ability to stay on pitch LIVE, vocal runs, tone, power, and control. ALL of which Christina has in spades over Ke$ha, who has yet to deliver one LIVE performance that showcases any type of vocal prowess. We now return to our regular scheduled program of Demi Lovato rubbing her vocal cords with sandpaper.

Quoting your own post from a week ago? How boring. Shitty comeback. I don't care about "octaves" and whatever terminology you throw about. Octaves most certainly stand as attributes to making a good vocalist even greater (see: Mariah Carey), so in the case of a vocalist poll, as you consistently seem to hammer down in your case, you probably should care about them. This asks who is the better vocalist, which entails things such as ability to stay on pitch LIVE Which Christina hasn't done in years Which Christina hasn't controlled or handled well in years I didn't realize strep throat was a tone She allows the world to use the mute button in its fullest power -- 1 point for you The bitch can't control her attitude, let alone her voice. ALL of which Christina has in spades over Ke$ha Is this hostility all because "Timber" is doing better than "Say Something"? We now return to our regular scheduled program of Demi Lovato rubbing her vocal cords with sandpaper. Beats Christina mimicking the shrieks from the orca whales in "Blackfish" I voted for neither, btw.

People continually think they know Christina and say what a bitch she is, which in turn allows them to downplay her vocal ability. Let me know when Ke$$$$ha has the ability to record a performance like that of "Say Something."

ROTFL I don't know if the ones voting for Ke$ha are being serious or sarcastic. Either way, such a sad time and a sad generation. Imagine if people choose Madonna over Whitney as a better vocalist back in the day. What has this world come to?
PS. Invalid thread.

Ke$ha is exactly what music doesn't need in 2014. That said, Christina sounds God awful on the Gaga remix. Like... it's getting worse and worse. Painful.

Late to the party here, but does anyone have any live stripped/acoustic performances from Kesha. Until I hear them, I reserve judgement, but my reflex would be Christina; however, Kesha's tone is superior to Christina's throaty > nasal tone, has superior clarity to Christina, but has inferior power and emotive abilities to Christina. For me, range is undecided because Christina can no longer reliably sing in the 5th octave- even a C5 is quite a strained struggle for her to hit. Also, I need to hear more from Kesha to determine versatility, but my intuitive answer is Christina.
