GEORGE COVERS ALAN! On September 13, 2005, country legend, George Jones, releases a collection of hits he wishes he had recorded and one hit that became the most popular country song in history. Most of these songs were sent to Jones to record over the years. All of them went on to become big hits. When he’d hear them on the radio, Jones would laugh about the “hits he missed.” One of the songs Jones recorded for Hits I Missed...And One I Didn't was Alan Jackson's first number one single, “Here In The Real World.” George says of his friend, "Alan Jackson carries the torch for traditional country music and he is near and dear to my heart for that."

Dolly helps the Possum relive the bad ol' days
You know Martina McBride is coming out with an album of country classics, and now George Jones is coming with one of his own. Sort of.
The Possum is calling his project, Hits I Missed … And One I Didn't, to be released Sept. 13 (the day after George's 74th birthday.) It'll have songs that he passed on but that went on to be big hits for others. Songs such as Here in the Real World. The One He Didn't Miss is He Stopped Loving Her Today, his first re-recording of that landmark hit in 25 years.
The song his camp is most excited about is one Hank Williams Jr. wrote called The Blues Man, a song about missing concerts and getting tossed in jail. George always felt it cut a little close to home. Some lyrics:
"So I started drinkin', took some things that messed up my thinkin' ... got arrested on dirt roads, got sued over no shows ..." You get the picture. The video for the song will feature some news footage of some of the Possum's, uh, more interesting moments in life.
George's partner for The Blues Man will be Dolly Parton, their first duet. The two are expected to be together tomorrow to make the performance parts of the music video. Should be a good 'un.
