Unreleased Greatest Hits Week:
The drill this week is that when an artist releases a greatest hits album, a new song gets left off as an album cut. The first example of this is when Kenny Rogers released a greatest hits album in 1980. Two new songs were added, but only one was released and that was Lady (#1 country, #1 pop, and #1 adult contemporary). The other song was Long Arm Of The Law. I will be revealing the track listing and the one that does not get a year and a chart peak will be the featured song. Ready?
1. The Gambler-1978-#1-chart wise, his biggest hit 2. Lady-1980-#1 3. Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer-with Kim Carnes-1980-#3 4. Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town-1969-#39 5. #1 Debuts By Female Artists:
Let us salute those female artists who started their careers on a #1 note. First up is Connie Smith. After all, she was the first female artist to take a debut single to the top of the chart. She did so in 1964 with Once A Day. 1964 was the year she signed to RCA Records. Once A Day came from her self-titled debut album. Released in August, it topped the chart for eight weeks in November, December, and January of 1965. She did well with the next single, Then And Only Then which peaked at #4 in 1965. Once A Day to this day remains the most successful debut single by a female artist and with its eight weeks at #1, the biggest hit ever by a female artist. Smith would only have one chart topping hit to her name.

Paper Roses crossed over to #5 pop (as did Anita Bryant's version from 1960) and topped the adult contemporary chart. Osmond would go on to score another three #1 hits during the 1980s.

Random Single Of The Night: Artist: Dean Brody Single: "Undone" Writer: Dean Brody Album: Dean BrodyLabel: Broken Bow Records/Open Road Year Released: 2009 Year Peaked: 2010 Canadian Hot 100 Peak: #79 "Undone" was the final single off Dean's debut album on Canadian Country radio in late 2009. It was never released in the US and its released was right around the time Dean left Broken Bow Records and continued his recording deal in Canada for Open Road Recordings. I always thought this should have been his second US single, instead of "Gravity", which never get off the ground after "Brothers" top 25 Mediabase peak in April of 2009. He only lasted less than a year on Broken Bow and to this day, I wish he would have stayed on US radio and hit it big, even though he's been a star north of the border. His knack of writing terrific melodies and crafty lyrics has always been his strength.
