I have a feeling if the exact songs were sung by Miley or Katie these songs would be much higher on pop. Pop doesn't seem to really embrace Beyoncé fully. The most boring song from Miley, Adore You, right now is getting played and when Katie was having trouble selling Unconditionally, I still heard it on the radio every half second.

If she actually performs this on the Grammys tonight, it could give it a nice boost.

What are you guys talking about of course if Miley or Katy Perry had a song it would be played on pop that is their core format. Beyonce with her work has steadily gone a bit more urban with some pop nuances thrown in there so it can either catch at pop or get some play on pop. But then again, if Miley or Katy had this song I imagine the production would be a bit more different and the delivery a bit more different to suit their format. I don't understand the expectations for Beyonce to smash on pop. Sure she is a superstar, but her recordings have leaned more toward the urban side. I would be more worried if she wasn't getting played by Rhythmic and Urban.
I actually think Beyonce is probably one of the more intelligent artists out there actually making work that will lead her to a viable career when she switches over to her career after her peak years. She doesn't need to cater to pop. If they want to play her awesome, but if not she needs to do work that cements her as a playable artist for Rhythmic and definitely Urban radio for when she is past her peak. If this song is meant to smash, then it will it certainly has hit her core formats well. Hopefully, pop follows suit, but if it doesn't, the song did it's job on its core formats.

I was hoping the audio was off, so she did lip? Oh Bey don't give the haters more ammo.

This is very much an urban album, so to expect pop to lick her twat is stupid. She may be a superstar, and she may have pulled off the biggest coup of the year, but if your songs don't reflect the format they will only get played so much.

I LOVED the performance! I thought the vocals were live though? At the beginning her voice was just sliiiightly shaky which I assumed was opening act nerves. It'd be weird if that was pre-recorded.

I thought most of it was live, but she definitely was using a loud backing track (she's always done that though). It's kind of a way to cheat at cheating, if that makes any sense - she's not technically lip-syncing, but if she misses a note the track covers her. Not one of her better performances imo, but I thought it was still pretty good...oddly it didn't even seem as if she was really aiming for a show-stopping performance. It just seemed very relaxed, like she didn't feel the need to prove anything.

No worries, this is going to smash so hard! My top 40 just added this and they haven't showed such early support for a rhythmic song since "Otis" by Jay-Z when we had our last music director (ever since 2011 WKST was early on every alt single). Clear Channel obviously is willing to support it so XO flopping will not be a problem and radio will be more open to her other rhythmic material.

Go ahead and do it. I actually think sending this song out to Pop will help XO...as it will increase peoples appetite for Beyonce records.

The only reason they are removing the rap is to do away with the Ike Turner-referencing line. Still a little baffled by it, especially since Beyonce has always shown respect and deference to Tina Turner. Whatever. A small gripe. The song is still F1 Flawless and I will never stop stanning for SURFBOARDT and oh bayBUH!
