Personally, I thought radio was going to give up on this single in the low 20's a la Miranda Lamber's latest (which was sad btw), but for this song to still be going strong in the top 10 is AWESOME. It ALMOST makes me regain my faith that radio does play what they think is good rather than what their bosses tell them to... almost. I love this song and I hope that she picks a great third single to hold her over til her next album where she can have a great debut single that gets her album going strong out of the gate (like Brave should have but sadly didn't). Go Jamie!

I'm also shocked by the chart success of "Somebody's Hero."
I had figured the song would die off after Mother's Day was over.
I love the video for this song. I don't care for the song, but I love the video. Jamie looks really nice in it.
I think this should have been the first single from the album. I think the album would have done better if it had a different first single than "Atlantis."

A lot of the shots of Jaime in the video remind me of LeAnn Rimes in her "Nothin' Bout Love Makes Sense" video. Like when she walks and when she's lying down looking at the camera. Also with the whole nature life around.

I like the song a lot and glad to see it's doing well. Jamie O'Neal is highly underrated as a songwriter and singer.

Yes I'm shocked... and lovin' every minute of it!!! ;) So am I...after "Atlantis" stalled in the top 20, I assumed that this would be lucky to hit the top25/top 30. I think it's great that Jamie's closing in on the top 10. I never understood why radio abandoned her after her first two singles hit #1. It's great to see that correcting itself now.

I agree with everyone that has posted so far: I am surprised and I thought it would be done after Mother's Day also, which was months ago now. Her poses do remind me of LeAnn's video. But I like it, both are very beautiful women. I think her album would have done better had this been the lead single also. This gained over 400 spins on Mediabase, it looks far from over. "I'm lovin every minute of it" also.

Further proof that payola still exists... So why is it when LeAnn's song starts moving more quickly after a long climb, it's because people are finally realizing that the song has quality, but Jamie's song has to be moving up because of payola?

In looking at this week's BB chart, it really isn't that surprising that Jamie moves from #12 to #8. She passed Van Zant (who went recurrent), along with Faith Hill and Sugarland (whose songs are both dropping quickly) and Gretchen Wilson (whose song has struggled since it made the Top 10 in its 3rd week).
As far as the biggest moves of the week, she was ranked #9 in BB. Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Montgomery Gentry, Craig Morgan, George Strait, Faith Hill and Lonestar all did better than her.
I could chart the song's rise just as I did with Sugarland's "Something More" and it would show an increase over the past few weeks, but it would look very similar to the path that LeAnn Rimes has taken with her song.
The song will probably move up to #6 in next week's BB as it should pass Tim McGraw, B&D and Brad Paisley - while Keith Urban moves ahead of her. But the main thing is that the gains have been consistently getting better over the past few weeks. There hasn't been a big rise in one week, followed by the subsequent dive. Some songs like LeAnn's and Jamie's might have a tough time gaining acceptance earlier on. There are other reasons why songs move up the charts besides payola...

I'm not referring to it's rise, I'm referring to the fact it's made it this high period...

I'm delighted that it's gone this high, and still hasn't peaked yet.
Considering how soft the top of the charts are, she's still bound to go even higher.
Basically the problem STILL remains an overreliance on callout and research; in spite of Ms. O'Neal track record at the format, there are LOTS of PDs out there who are STILL far too gunshy about playing new music, and have consequently killed songs such as 'When The Sun Goes Down', which figures to finish in THIS year's top 60, which is indefensible!!!!!
Look at how slowly Sugarland's first two singles took to reach the very top of the charts, and now they appear to be a mortal lock (along with Rascals Flatts) to finish with TWO singles in the year-end top 10.
That's not too shabby either!!!!!!

Because Leann's song is legitimate. This O'Neal song has been written a million times - and better.

I actually like LeAnn's song more than Jamie's song, but I wouldn't exactly say that Jamie's song isn't legitimate, just because you feel it's been written a million times.
But no need to argue opinions here - it appears that Jamie's song still has some life left and it will probably pass Sara as she heads down the chart this week and will make it to #4 next week on BB.
Don't know if she can get much higher as Keith and Craig seem pretty solid and MG is well ahead of everyone right now.
Then we'll see if LeAnn can follow Jamie into the Top 5. I certainly hope so...

I think both LeAnn and Jamie have done country radio a favor by giving them great songs from female artists. It's great to see artists like Jamie and LeAnn scoring Top 10 hits again.

I'm not really shocked that much. The country format seems to be the least likely to leave a good song off. And "Somebody's Hero" is a great song

Sorry, I disagree. The country format seems the most likely to leave a good song off.
He Oughta Know That By Now I Ain't No Quitter Me And Charlie Talking Bring Me Down Big Time It's A Heartache The Bride I Love Her, She Hates Me, I Drink
And the list goes on and on. None of these songs have hit top 10. Not many of those songs hit top 20. And Jamie O'Neals' amazing song has hit top 5. Something all of those songs listed should have done, of course, in my opinion.

I gotta agree, I dont care much for it either. And DAMN I forgot Darryl Worley even released I Love Her, She Hates Me, I Drink. I think i heard it once, and I live in Nashville and listen to 5 seperate radio stations.Same thing with Randy Travis "Angels".I wouldnt begrudge songs like this if the charts moved quicker like they used too.....and EVERYBODY got a shot at a #1 record.Ya Know before Toby , Rascall and Urban started campin out at the top for literally monthes.Id like to return to the days of 20 week chart runs.okay ,im done bitchin Ill go sit in my corner now......lol

Bring Me Down, Big Time, and I Ain't No Quitter deserved AT LEAST top 10. I know that some of yall have prejudices against B&R and Shania, so what about Miranda? Can we all agree that Bring Me Down deserved top 5? Speaking of which, that song just began playing (I have my iPod on shuffle).

Ill agree with Bring me Down. I didnt care much for Me & Charlie Talkin though...That was probablly my least favorite of the whole cd, which is typical....lol....and I gotta say if I never hear shanias voice again it'll be too soon though (NOT slammin her, just my opinion).Again, I still think if the charts could be kick started where singles didnt have sit so stagnet for weeks at a time this would be solved , for the MOST part.....

I guess we can do that - agree to disagree.
I do agree with lumpster that I also wish we could have 20 week chart runs. You either have 'All Jacked Up' kind of song that it in top 10 in 4 weeks or less. And then you have the songs that take 25+ weeks to hit top 10. I think there needs to be middle ground. And every single Tim, Faith, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, and Kenny releases should not automatically be hits, that prevents the good songs from doing anything. VERY ANNOYING.

PWBTW took a long time to get top ten but it is probably the best country song of the year. So the 20 week rule wouldn't be fair. And I have seen occasions when Tim and Faith have missed the top ten.

Considering that 'Drugs or Jesus' was Tim's first song to miss the top ten in at least 8-10 years, he was probably due.
Heck, he'd only missed the top ten ONE since 'It's Your Love' in 1997, until 'DOJ' ran out of steam.
I'm delighted that Jamie O'Neal is still moving upward after 6 1/2 months on the charts, but the fact that 'I May Hate Myself In The Morning' didn't crack the top five despite all of the accolades it and that stupendous CD must mean that there are TONS of VERY embarrassed PDs out there!!!
