Just read where Rebecca Lynn Howard and Carolyn Dawn Johnson lost their deals on All Access. These are two of my favorite females and it sucks to see them get cut loose. Maybe they will land somewhere soon! :'(

Nooooooo. I was hoping that CDJ would come out with some new material soon. And I really loved 'Forgive' by Rebecca Lynn Howard. These are two extremely talented vocalists. I REALLY hope they get new record deals.
Do you know why they lost their record deals?

RLH never found any success at radio other than Forgive and CDJ's second album flopped badly. Simple Life didn't fair as well as they had hoped. It was one of my top ten songs of that year. CDJ is still huge in Canada so I am sure she will be fine but RBH might have some trouble since she dosen't have any kind of track record at radio.

What other songs from Rebecca were released to radio? 'Forgive' is the only one that I remember. And that was a powerful song, vocally.
And why didn't 'Die Of A Broken Heart' do good on the charts? I thought that was a beautiful song, perfect ballad for radio. I have 'Dress Rehearsal' and it is easily one of my favorite albums, I just love her voice. And I could have swore that 'Simple Life' hit top 5 on the charts.

I can't say that I'm surprised, although I LOVE RLH. CDJ being let go or out doesnt bother me a bit. I was a fan of hers when she released Room With A View, but she lost me with the release of Dress Rehearsal. Simple Life was an ok single but Die of a Broken Heart wasn't made to be played on the radio, so no surprise there.
With the way labels have been the past few yrs I would rather see RLH picked up by an indie label and I wish her the best of luck.

:(.. for CDJ... Aww.. I doubt she'll ever see a major label deal.. :(.. Argh. I doubt either of them will, unfortunately. Hasn't RLH had several deals already? That shouldn't matter, but somehow it does when it comes down to perception from radio and the industry. I know that it's hurt several artists who are trying to break through right now. In a way it's very sad because these two ladies are two of the most talented and deserving artsits on Music Row (imo), but if they weren't making progress at their labels, then it's best that they move on. These days, there are so many other ways to gain fans, play/write music that is meaningful and has integrity, and make money doing it on a national level. It takes a little more work, but I bet these ladies will continue striving. I sure hope so because I think they're both awesome.

I can understand, or accept, RLH being without a label deal more easily than I can see CDJ being without one.
CDJ had some success with her first cd, and I grew to really enjoy "Complicated."
After her second cd did bad, I can see why she may have decided to leave the label. The label probably wanted her to come back with an instant hit.
With that said, I think CDJ will have a much easier time than RLH seeking out a deal with another major label if she chooses to do so.

What she had 2 hits as compared to RLH one hit? Oh , and trust me when the artist says they asked to be released from there contract, lets face it , 9 out of 10 times, they were dropped. Thats just a way for the artist to save a little face.

The label wanted her to start recording music written by others and CDJ did not feel that fit her artistical intergrity. The label wanted to work with her, but it is not what she wanted. She asked out.

Georgia, Complicated, and I Don't Want You to Go are the only ones I would ever consider hits.

CDJ was more successful than RLH.
Complicated - 5 I Don't Want You to Go - 7 Simple Life - 13 One Day Closer To You - 24 Georgia - 25
And her album was certified.
I'm not a fan of one more than the other, but I'd be lying if I said there career's were similar, considering Rebecca Lynn Howard only had one Top 15 hit.

Yeah, it bugs me to hear someone say that CDJ and RLH had the same amount of success. Because obviously, CDJ had more success.
Whatever, either way, I hope both find new record deals and make some new music.

It's not a contest between the 2 of who had the most hits, so drop it already.

CDJ appeared on some major tours, as well. I think I saw her 4x just by going to see others, such as Reba's Girls Night Out, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson. She always had folks singing along, and "Just Another Girl" seemed so big live that I thought for sure it would be a single.
I think they're both great... it's too bad there most likely is not 'mainstream commerical success' for them in the future. Perhaps they'll be on some dream label with Chely Wright and Clay Davidson and other favorites of me who lost their big deals... :)

I could EASILY recognize both, but I would more than likely pass right by CDJ to get to RLH.

If CDJ can't get another U.S. record deal, she could easily do a Paul Brandt. Both are doing really well in Canada. On the Canadian R&R chart, "Die Of A Broken Heart" went to #4, "Head Over High Heels" to #5, and "Dress Rehearsal" peaked at #11.
