So "Counting Stars" does get its week at #1, after moving 5-2-3-3 over the last month. "Timber" should probably get there next week. No other particularly big or unexpected moves, though two songs next to each other have the biggest mover status, up 7 notches each. The biggest droppers move down 5, and nine songs (including four in a row in the top 10) stay put.

They seem to be playing the show several times a day now with the new show on Wednesday afternoon.
I like it.
I hope this change is by design and not a glitch.

Now that Martin/American Authors have been featured as extras (Breakout and On The Verge respectively) I hope next week Chris Wallace can get a look-in.

"Animals" appears to be the Fresh Buzz Song of the week.

I'm pleased to see "Counting Stars" get to #1. It was starting to look like it might not happen. It's, now, evident that the chart may be a little further behind than it should be. Probably, due to Ryan's other, more pressing, commitments (Translation: American Idol).

"Chocolate" seems to have debuted earlier than expected. I fully expect "Talk Dirty", "Best Day Of My Life" and maybe "Can't Remember To Forget You" to debut next week, with the new breakouts being Pharrell and Chris Wallace.

Indeed, "Chocolate" was one week ahead of schedule - and so too is "Hey Brother", for that matter. Conversely, "Talk Dirty" is a week behind schedule. Agreed that that, and Shakira/Rihanna should debut next week (how has that not been featured in full on here yet? ???) "Best Day of My Life", on the other hand, is still not in the overall Top 40 as yet.

And yet... neither is "Animals". Except that's not in The 40 yet. It's only a Breakout/Buzz Song. ;)

Anna Kendrick's "Cups (Pitch Perfect's When I'm Gone)" was played as an extra after #28.

This chart's got me ticked off, and now things are slowing down for the first time in a while. "Talk Dirty" by Jason Derulo should've been a new entry this week! And because of the slowness, Britney's "Perfume" stays for another week, when it should've exited this week! And how in the world is Sara Bareilles moving down! Besides it was never behind Flo Rida's "How I Feel" or "Thinking About You", which shouldn't be that high up!! And "Dark Horse" should've been at #6 at least! >

When did the AT40 website get a makeover? I haven't visited it in some time but now it's completely different.

When did the AT40 website get a makeover? I haven't visited it in some time but now it's completely different. Apparently very recently, probably in the last few days or so. I mostly use the iPhone app, but looking at the full site, it seems to be overhauled in look, though without much change in content. Everything is in a larger type font, the blue backing has been changed to white, some things are placed differently, and after ten years they changed the AT40 logo (the star is now in the A instead of the 0.) I think it looks somewhat "cleaner", and perhaps easier for many to read (not that the old one was hard to read or use.) There's a click through of 5 main pictures at the front, including two opportunities to win "Seacrest seats" at upcoming concerts. No picture of Ryan on the front page any more, at least not right now.

Yup. They definitely revamped the site. It looks cool,though... "Animals" appears to be the Fresh Buzz Song of the week. Yeah, "I'm a Freak" isn't even in the top 40 sans Recurrents, and "Take Me Home" debuted already. So Martin's the clear winner.

Glad to see that OneRepublic didn't get screwed out of being the #1 song. Pitbull/Ke$ha should have #1 next week.
The AT40 website looks a lot more fresh and more current. It's still the same with some obvious changes done to it.
Is the IHeartRadio station time schedule fixed somewhat or not?

I, last, peeked at the site, Wednesday, and it was still the "old" site, then. The update, literally, "just happened".

What did Ryan say about "Animals"? Did he call it an instrumental?

What did Ryan say about "Animals"? Did he call it an instrumental? He didn't, exactly, call it an instrumental. But he did say that if "Animals" hits the top 40, it would have the fewest lyrics for a top 40 single since Darude's purely instrumental hit "Sandstorm" in 2001.

Why are instrumentals so rare in pop music these days? Back in my day there were always plenty of instrumental hits. In fact, some of the biggest hits were instrumentals. The biggest hit of the entire year of 1960 was an instrumental.

The biggest hit of the entire year of 1960 was an instrumental. The most recent instrumental I can remember prior to "Sandstorm" was "Children" by Robert Miles in 1995. That song was being played all over Europe, and was a pretty big pop and dance hit here as well. 1985 was a big year for instrumentals as the "Love Theme From St. Elmo's Fire" by David Foster, "Axel F" (Beverly Hills Cop theme) by Herald Faltermeyer, and the "Miami Vice Theme" by Jan Hammer were all big hits that year. I guess you could call Herald Faltermeyer and Jan Hammer the David Guetta or Zedd of their generation. :)

Looks like I stand corrected on Chris Wallace. The latest updated banner for his song advertises a "national debut" for it next weekend (also just posted in his single thread). Whether that means it surfaces in Breakout Land or shoots straight into the countdown remains to be seen, but expect to find him somewhere in any case.

So Katy drops off, but she still gets 2 spins in the last hour. Congratulations to OneRepublic on getting to #1. Great song! Young Girls is slowing down after that big jump a couple of weeks back. Does anyone else hear similarities between Alone Together and Umbrella(Rihanna)/Replay(Iyaz)? Interesting timing for Rock Your Body. 10 years ago this weekend, Janet had her wardrobe malfunction with JT and that song. Here's the song Arnold referred to,Theme From A Summer Place, together with a remake(including lyrics) from a few years later by The Lettermen: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSsiS-v6_6Mwww.youtube.com/watch?v=NlnNHKJam5sRyan pronounced enchilada like inchilada when talking about Subway. So I guess it's a 6 inchilada and a 12 inchilada that they have there.

Did Avicii's "Levels" not chart? That had no vocals either...

Did Avicii's "Levels" not chart? That had no vocals either... "Levels" never charted on AT40. It might have been a breakout at some point on the show, but I am not sure. EDIT: Didn't "Levels" feature Etta James voice just like in Flo Rida's "Good Feeling"? That would mean that "Levels" did have vocals if you include that.

No, "Levels" was never played on AT40 as a Break Out.
