They could/should repush this to Pop. It's still in the Top 150 on iTunes and it's seemingly getting more popular. They should try again, this time without a million Alt crossovers happening at the same time.

Besides, now they would have to compete with George Evra, Banks, Walk The Moon, and Imagine Dragons, all of whom have more pop appeal.

I don't think Erza and BANKS are for sure pop hits, while WALK THE MOON is a for sure crossover smash and Imagine Dragons is iffy. This could work. Maybe shorten the song since it's 4:40 (was there a radio edit for Alt?), then it could fare better.

I'd love to see it happen, but sadly it's not meant to be. It's just not as friendly as the other songs trying to crossover. Remember, Stolen Dance and Riptide were in the Top 40 of iTunes before crossing over, and even they're struggling behind Take Me To Church to do any real damage.

And yeah, 102.1 in Toronto cuts out most of the indie solo part and the rest of that funky part tgat starts near the 2:30ish mark and just goes to the 3rd chorus to rap things up.

This is seriously still gaining its bullet back. I swear they're never going to be able to move on to "The Business of Emotion".

I think it's because of Thanksgiving, plus it's seeing moderate Hot AC success, which may be influencing it a bit. Regardless, I thought "The Business of Emotion" got an adds date.

On Alt:
9 9 BIG DATA Dangerous f/Joywave 1595 1549 46 8.04
Even though I like this song, I also want this song to go recurrent. This will help free up chart space for newer songs to enter the top 10. At the rate this song is moving on the charts, it looks like this will be another 52-weeker (or longer like "Do I Wanna Know?" in which I hope not)

This is my local Alt station's (WRFF) 7 day change for this song. 28 11 BIG DATA Dangerous f/Joywave 24 12 +12 0.3672 sure, they didn't play it at all when it was fighting to get more than 1 week at #1 against Bleachers and Riptide, but now suddenly it's moving into semi-strong rotation after almost a year on the chart. Makes total sense. I'm sure there are a bunch of stations that had similar situations with this song, that's why it's taking so long to finally go recurrent.

I feel like I would share the negative sentiments about 52-week songs if only the first song to do it wasn't so bad. Really, why the hell did it have to be "The Kill"? My lord, that has become so unbearable, I'm still burned out on its overplay from 06/07...8 years later.

Personally, I feel like the first "meh" song to go 52 weeks was "Animal" and that was only because it was pretty poppy. The first song I didn't like to do it was "Safe and Sound", and then "Sweater Weather" followed with its crappiness, and since then, we've had the unmemorable "Out of My League", "Pompeii" and "Radioactive" do it. Come on, I like them all, but they don't feel like 52-weekers.

You shoulda been my age when The Kill was out. 52 weeks of The (Over) Kill and like 35 or w/e of From Yesterday is to this day the most burnout I've experienced from any band on alternative ever. Makes The Lumineers burnout feel like wasn't even a thing. Ironically, the reason 30STM burnout was probably the worst is due to not many bands at the time being similar on alternative, they were quite unique. Plus their lyrics have always been questionable...not because of their content, but because Jared Leto at that point seemed a bit too...old to be as emotional about teenage problems as his songs suggested.

Now I should clarify that when I say "teenage problems", I am referring to 30STM songs at that time being lyrically similar to emo pop punk bands and screamo bands who targeted a high school audience.

It's alot different when you start listening to songs as golds.

Those songs were some of the most popular songs of the year, not just on the alternative format but in the entire country (well except Fitz maybe), so they certainly feel more like songs that would spend 52 weeks on the chart than, say, "The Kill" or "Face Down".

Trust me, I've been a core alternative listener under both age ranges, and there is a bigger difference in those two target audiences than you'd realize at your age. You'll notice it around age 20.
