That random old man without a smartphone or a computer that I met in Best Buy and I are in such an elite group.

That random old man without a smartphone or a computer that I met in Best Buy and I are in such an elite group. It's only been 1 1/2 weeks since it's release, and checking all the retail stores inventory (Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Frys) the album is either listed as "not in stores" or "out of stock." I did see Barnes & Noble having it at their stores, so maybe I'll pick up a copy today and help the cause. Started listening to it (streaming) on the way to the work today after hearing "Carnival Games" pop up over the weekend, and I do like it's cohesiveness, but there is something missing about the material.

Well, the Best Buys in NYC have collapsed their CD collection into basically one rack with only the hits and a few random oldies and obscurities but I had to have them dig Nelly out from the backroom. Sad.

Actually, scratch that. I had to get Nelly from Amazon. It wasn't sold physically in Best Buy or Target at all, which is not so surprising from an indie artist. I guess the upside is: she can't get dropped with such abysmal sales? #mrbrightside

Where did it all go wrong? It went wrong when she didn't follow Loose up with an English-language album for 6 years and then thought that "Big Hoops" might be a hit.

Well on the bright side it's not difficult to sell more than 9,000 copies. She can only go up!

This albums is DOA - but it *was* an independent release, unlike TSI. I have a feeling she doesn't give a fuck.

That's a nice article from Billboard.
Interesting that they compared Big Hoops to Odd Future, seeing as Nelly has been hanging out with Hodgy a lot lately (even rumors about a collab album).

"Sticks & Stones" rises up to a new peak of #12 on the Dance Club Songs this week. Hope it can crack the Top 10 (and possibly get the #1 spot later) next.

None of the pop girls from that time made smart decisions. They’re all done. Who’s still around and relevant?

Kelly and P!nk, I'd argue JLo as well, but they're all moving into "legacy act" at this point. Not really flopping but their chart dominance is over. Avril is done, Ashanti is done, Christina is done... Britney is an icon but the charts ain't there for her anymore.

Is anybody aside from Taylor Swift and Drake still fuqqing up the charts though who became famous then? It's like anyone with 6+ years in mainstream popular music is suddenly a legacy act these days.

Sadly, Selena Gomez is still getting hits (although they keep getting smaller).

I looked at the top Sales Plus Streamingsingles for the year so far. Only 5 artists on the Top 50 songs had their mainstream career begin before 2011: Drake, Chris Brown (f/ on Lil Dicky), Nicki Minaj, Jason Aldean, and Bruno Mars.

To me she is an icon. One of the most original pop acts in the last 20 years

"Sticks & Stones" moves up to #6 this week! Congrats Nelly & Metro on a Top 10 Dance hit. Now, to wonder if it can reach #1.

Um, I just checked out the article. I was asking about Metro, and I don't think it is the same person as Freemasons/F9 (who remixed this song).
