My standouts are Tap Dancing and Sticks And Stones so far.
It's really solid but I need to settle in with this new sound a little more. Nelly always keeping her fans on their toes. Love that about her.

Finally got around to listening and I love it all on first listen, going to have to let everything sink in to pick favorites.

Cold Hard Truth Carnival Games Live Paris Sun Sticks and Stones Palaces
I appreciate the creative liberties she took with this album. Not everything worked for me but you can't ever call her boring.

This sounds like something that the alternative audience would listen to if they gave it a chance. I think it's interesting and a stronger album then her previous one.

The CD booklet includes lyrics for Islands Of Me, Bliss, and Behind Your Back, but...the songs are nowhere to be found. . Also, Flatline is TERRIBLE. Cautiously making my way through the album but...so far, not impressed and I am a big Nelly fan.

I much prefer TSI over this. This album is easily the worst for me. Just because something is indie doesn't mean it has to sound so cheap but that is my biggest issue here - the mixing, mastering, etc. Some of the sound effects are grating and random and just unnecessary. That said, I will most likely return to:
1. Pipe Dreams 2. Tap Dancing 3. Right Road 4. Magic 5. Live

Been streaming this at work this morning and finally made it through. The plus, it's incredibly cohesive, she clearly had a vision and executed it. Her past albums were all over the place and hodge podge, so there's definitely a level of discipline here that was missing in the past.
The weakness here is in the production. It's just so clumsy in places. And she's always been such an awkward songwriter and because the production lacks, it kind of highlights it. It's a solid effort, very listenable for the most part, but I can't help but think what if Blood Orange had produced it? I wish she had extended their collab further into this album.

I have no idea what Happy Tears is though. Happy Tears is song that swirled around on those hit evaluator websites before they get released. Someone was able to record like a solid minute of it and people now think it might be Bliss. The hook went something like: "Cry out your heart so you can fill it up again Fill it up again, my friend" Does that match the Bliss lyrics in your booklet? EDIT here's the snippet: vocaroo.com/i/s1t4nuf4SCLT

Such a grower. I now maintain that the back half (#7-12) are the strongest songs but you add Live (which sounds like debut Nelly) and then I'm satisfied with my purchase. Flatlines still grates and sounds like noise but I will continue giving the first half attention to see if it grows even more.

Honestly a complete great package that gives me nods to her earliest work alongside new sounds that stray away from mainstream and are more unique It just works so well making for an amazing album, I really wish she were more successful commercially like how she was back in the mid 2000s with Loose

This album is not designed for commercial success but Nelly has proven that she is capable of striving for that, if she so chooses.

I do hope her and Timbaland find their way back into the studio together at some point in the future; they're electric together.

The Ride now sits alongside Folklore as my favorite Nelly Furtado albums. The album feels cohesive, and each song offers something a bit different. She really achieved something here, and I hope it gets noticed. I created a playlist that includes the three singles that didn't make the final cut, and they work well together.
My favorites:
Cold Hard Truth Flatline Live Paris Sun Pipe Dreams Palaces Phoenix
