I'm so glad I didn't listen to the demos. I can just enjoy the final album versions for what they are. I put RH on last night as my friend and I decorated for their GF's/my BF's surprise party. They liked it immensely, but "Ghosttown" was their favorite. (This friend prefers gender neutral pronouns) EDIT: Also, there was this horrible article Facebook linked me to about how awfully this album is selling; I'm not posting it here because it's not worth it. It made me upset b/c 1.) They didn't account for the decline in album sales from the last 3 decades (of course) and 2.) IMO, Madonna hasn't don't unattainable 5-10 times Platinum records since TIC. Her albums have always sold solidly, but mostly between 1 & 3 million from Erotica onward, except for Ray of Light (4xp). Madonna selling 500,000-1 million in 2015 is comparable to the sales of a 2xp album of hers in the 90s, IMHO. I saw an article on my Facebook and it pissed me off because it was filled with mistakes and inaccuracies. I felt like the person was just throwing the kitchen sink out and knew nothing about music sales etc. The thing that made me cackle was that they said the album had received "mixed and less than stellar reviews" and they linked to one, and it was their own! Rebel Heart has gotten mostly good to great reviews. Some of the best since Ray Of Light and Confessions On A Dance Floor. As with all things, there will be some reviewers and publications that didn't like it for whatever reason.

Michelle Visage: “The Gays Have Turned Their Backs On Madonna” March 27, 2015Matthew Tharrett michaell-visage-madonna Michelle Visage is having none of the shade recently directed at Madonna following the meager debut of Rebel Heart, the album dubbed a “commercial flop” after lousy sales made it her worst release ever.
Related: The Unapologetic Madonna Interview: The Queen Of Pop On Grindr, Song Leaks, Her Kids, And More
“The gays have turned their backs on Madonna,” she told Jonny McGovern on Wednesday’s “Hey Qween,” adding the Queen of Pop is a “once in a lifetime” kind of talent who deserves everyone’s unbridled respect and worship.
“It makes me so sad that the children today really don’t know what she is,” she said. “To me, we will never see a superstar ever in our lifetime like Madonna or Michael Jackson. There’s been fringe ones — there’s Whitney Houston, there’s Mariah — but there will never be [another Madonna.]”
Related: Re-Evolution: 30 Years Of Madonna In Concert
“The gays have kind of turned their back on her. These young gays don’t know what she did for the community and what she continues to do…she did so much for HIV/AIDS, she has done so, so much for the gays. So much, and they forget. The young ones don’t even see her.”
Perhaps Madonna isn’t appealing to a younger generation because, unlike Mr. McGovern here, she refuses to age gracefully with her audience (remember the Gay Pimp days?).
Why do you think Madonna doesn’t translate to the younger generation?

Wash All Over Me is on repeat now. A melancholy yet euphoric gem of a song.

^^^That lady makes a great point….growing up and coming of age as a young person in the 80s when the climate for gays was very very negative and you had the aids crisis which was so identified with gays Madonna was a beacon of light. When she came on the scene I was around 11 years old and I remember her saying things like it is normal to be gay and that its ok to be gay. Those types of things were not said much in those days and it took major balls by her to do so and it made big impacts on young people like me who were brought up in a society that put shame on you.

still gutted that the demo version of Rebel Heart was scrapped. Listening to it on great speakers, and it's so wonderful. Huge missed opportunity. also, was driving to the store and played Celebration. I gotta say I like that song waaaaay more than Living For Love. Not the video, of course, but as a properly structured song, YES. I love that retro bridge, too. And that first verse is pure fire. man are you kinda schizophrenic? i mean you were absolutely raving about the album and loving it especially the first 6 songs released, but now suddenly it's not a favorite anymore and you are going to the extremes by saying that the freakin Celebration is better than Living For Love? I LITERALLY CAN'T

Inside out is a gem!..but I agree with the above saying I was also disappointed that song RH was changed from its demo..the demo had a good flow too it ,,the album track is over loaded with too much bass...and I still love Wash all over Me a lot,,,but I thought the pure piano demo was so grand...I don't know why she added those drum sounds or what ever I'm hearing in the song...I just hope next time she records her next album in private...she basically posted lyrics and hashtags on instagram for a whole year....because when you wanna share your building such a great album to your fans ,your also sharing it too hackers who would nothing more love too but ruin it for you...and it's so sad that's what happened... but it doesn't take away the fact this is her best since Confessions...and I do expect some Grammy nominations for this album next Feb.

^Inside Out is a revelation.
I never cared for the demos of RH or WAOM to begin with, but I agree they were better than the stripped down album versions. She sings RH so low it doesn't give her voice much room to sound pretty. (I can listen to my Stevie Nicks GH cd if I want raspiness.)
Maybe she will perform remixed versions on the tour.
Songs like Inside Out and Best Night remind me of the Erotica era. In fact, this whole era takes me back to that time. M is getting more hate than ever. No wonder that chip on her shoulder seems huge right now! Oh well, it's giving us great music once again. But I've got to compare the two albums track-to-track (as I am prone to do):
1. Erotica vs Living for Love Nothing can compare with this dark masterpiece. Erotica is actually creepy. It's hard for a pop song to evoke feelings (or fears) like that. 2. Fever vs Devil Pray Those swirling loops of Fever encircle you like a web... 3. Bye Bye Baby vs Ghosttown Yay, first one for Rebel Heart! 4. Deeper and Deeper vs Unapologetic Bitch 5. Where Life Begins vs Illuminati 6. Bad Girl vs B**** I'm Madonna Louise Oriole was the baddest b***** 7. Waiting vs Hold Tight Unusual vs generic 8. Thief of Hearts vs Joan of Arc One of Erotica's weakest vs one of RH's strongest 9. Words vs Iconic 10. Rain vs Heartbreak City 2 ballads, one makes you want to live the other makes you want to die! 11. Why's It So Hard vs Body Shop Very close but in this case Reggae beats Bollywood. 12. In This Life vs Holy Water 13. Did You Do It vs Inside Out 14. Secret Garden vs WAOM
Winner: Erotica!

If RH sells 1 million worldwide after it's all said and done then it wont be all that bad.
I think the leak really hurt her though because it showed unfinished work (some of which people liked better then the actual release) and it cause a lot of confusion around this era.
I do think that she may have one more POP album left in her where people will still be interested and buy. But after that (after 60) she's gotta go the bod dylan folk route for sure.

^Is it more because some albums that were up for preorder have moved down the chart? Partially…even not counting pre-orders a few days ago she was still around 50. So now with still some preorders ahead she is at like 43 or 44. She also leapfrogged some non preorders that were ahead of her.
