I would have melted from a cover of KISSING A FOOL....I still love Michael Buble's version. And Kissing A Fool would have fit right in with the MIAM theme. I love that jazzy sound from Mariah. Yeah, she would have nailed the "But remember this..." part. I think her "OMT" cover would be 3x better if it had been recorded when she initially made MIAM (i.e. when she did "Supernatural," "Meteorite," etc) instead of when she went back and recorded the 3 additional songs. The difference in her voice quality is so obvious. She also would have killed "OMT" circa 1993. I love both "OMT" and "KAF."

I think her sales would have been slightly higher for MIAMTEC (maybe 80-90k) with the promo she's getting at Epic, but I still don't think she would have had any real hits. Even with all this promo, "Infinity" is performing very similarly to "You're Mine" and not even turning into a significant Urban AC hit. The promo would have helped with opening week sales, but she would have needed hits to really sustain them.

I don't know, Say Something was released as a single in March of 06, so they certainly were considering the original tracks for single releases after DFAU. Say Somethin' was under consideration for lead and third single but kept getting pushed back. I kept seeing that song come up in a way that none of her other album tracks did, so I think Mariah really just loved that song and wanted to see it released eventually. Bummer that if flopped, I liked it too. LA Reid was the one who kept pushing for "SS." I also wonder if there was a contractual obligation for a Pharrell song to be a single at some point. Mariah has definitely shaded "SS," including when she said it grew on her when she kept hearing it as they filmed the video. Classic Mariah shade.

So, re-releasing the Xmas album this year should be an easy way to push it to 6x platinum. I wonder if there will be new recordings/ a new single.

Ok, I really don't like these video rants she is going on about with her songs on FB. Talk about what not to do when you are getting positive press is shade yourself and things about your songs.

I wonder what she would have released then? Because other than SS rearing its head a gazillion times and Fly Like a Bird getting a gospel release, it didn't seem like anything else was even going to get a chance. Ok, I really don't like these video rants she is going on about with her songs on FB. Talk about what not to do when you are getting positive press is shade yourself and things about your songs. Really? I think they're kind of cute. She's only ranting about the videos for the #1s (so far), not the #1s themselves. Mariah has shaded her style from that time before...I remember when she was watching one of her old Arsenio Hall performances and said something like "Oh my goodness, what was I thinking? That necklace doesn't go with that dress, and that hair. I didn't know any better."

Does anyone have a interview video or article that is in depth about the Emancipation album?

I love the one of Vision of Love, even though the fans already knew everything she was saying. I haven't seen her do any for any of the other #1's yet...? I love hearing Mariah talk candidly about what happens behind the scenes.

So, re-releasing the Xmas album this year should be an easy way to push it to 6x platinum. It should already be 6x platinum. It has sold 5.3 million no? It would have had record club sales, too, from the latter half of the 90s and very early 00s. Sony just needs to get it certified. I'm hoping being back with them means they will get those older albums updated. Ok, I really don't like these video rants she is going on about with her songs on FB. Talk about what not to do when you are getting positive press is shade yourself and things about your songs. It really is annoying. She's her own worst enemy in several ways.

Happy 1 Year Anniversary to Mariah's best album. I love everything about it from that iconic cover to song after song after song without a hint of filler. I even grew to love Money. God Bless this woman for giving me this album, which is everything I could have ever wanted from her in one collection. Money grew on me a lot too. I live for the oooh ooooohs.

Mariah, Why are you talking about your looks in these specials? Talk about the songs, please. And on that note, "Someday" is gonna be next

She didn't like the fact that it was basically an already complete track when she got it. You see that both of The Neptunes productions had zero input from Mariah and they are the only 2 tracks without a co-production credit from her.

I think it's a cute idea to have her reflecting on those songs. So far, they've been engaging and funny. I just hope it isn't 18 videos of "I didn't like my hair that day."

Cheryl Lynn is an unsung whistle note veteran! Really?! I don't know many of her songs so I was unaware that she had that capability. I remember as a kid hearing Minnie Riperton's "Lovin' You" and hearing the whistle then. I know a few others can do it too, like Deniece Williams.

I don't remember the song titles but Cheryl Lynn does some pretty freaky whistle notes! They're not as high as Minnie or Mariah though but the volume & patterns are incredible. I also love Chante Moore's whistle notes on I'm the One You Need.

Listen especially around 11:55... ridiculousness.

A song like "YDKWTD" was better poised to be a single. Maybe not now, because it'stoo late for that sound, but definitely last February, when "You're Mine" came out.

A re-release of Merry Christmas?! How exciting. I can't wait for this year's Beacon Theatre shows.
Sony are doing great at getting Mariah's name out there and building the nostalgia. There's a 90s playlist that I follow on Spotify and I've just noticed that the name has been changed to '90s Smash Hits - Featuring Mariah Carey', there's now a very short spoken introduction track recorded by Mariah and I'm sure more of her songs have been added too. Very subtle promotion, but I like their approach.

#1 to Infinity debuts at No. 20 on Top Album Sales, and No. 29 on the Billboard 200. It's her 18th top 20 album (sales).

That would be AMAZING! I wouldn't be surprised if it included footage of last year's Beacon shows though - maybe a compilation of some highlights, behind-the-scenes footage - something to push the shows if she really does intend on making it an annual event. I too would love for the St. John The Divine concert instead though; it would definitely ensure that I re-purchased the album!

I was floored by her Xmas vocals last year at Beacon - I can only imagine how great her voice will be this time around.

@ her rant about Someday. Homegirl straight up said "I hate it" LOOOOL. I'm so mad they didn't cut to a shot to her attempting the running man and then cut back to her reaction. That would have made for the best gif of 2015.
