So like the companion thread, we are talking about "modern" boy bands. We are also not restricting this to place of birth. We are also looking at an actual ranking based on Billboard www.billboard.com/articles/list/502728/10-biggest-boy-bands-1987-2012Boy bands ruled the music industry from the late '80s all the way to the early '00s, selling millions of records and touring stadiums across the globe. Then pop-punk took over, soon bowing to hip-hop and the ladies of pop who rule today. As the boy band era ended, Nick Lachey inked a reality TV deal, Justin Timberlake moved into acting, and most band members waited in the wings, ready to jump on a comeback whenever opportunity knocked. But in the last few years, with bands like the Jonas Brothers and One Direction taking center stage, we've seen a resurgence of boy band love. In honor of our latest Billboard magazine covers, featuring The Wanted and One Direction, we bring you the best the teen phenomenon has to offer: the top 10 boy bands of the last 25 years, according to our charts* 10. New Edition 9. Hanson 8. Jonas Brothers 7. 98 Degrees 6. 112 5. All-4-One 4. N Sync 3. New Kids On The Block 2. Backstreet Boys 1. Boyz II Men

Replace like 112 or New Edition with One Direction and you've pretty much nailed it!

Replace like 112 or New Edition with One Direction and you've pretty much nailed it! New Edition stays. They were the blueprint for what New Kids on the Block was and they are still touring successfully thirty plus years after their debut.

Replace like 112 or New Edition with One Direction and you've pretty much nailed it! the list is from 1987- 2012 and One Direction only had a few songs charting up until then but would be included if the timeline was later . New Edition who is one of my favorites actually had several hits before the timeline since they started charting in 1983.i agree with Boyz II Men being #1 . one of my favorite acts ever.

I only remember "Peaches & Cream". "Dance With Me" was their best. Too bad it wasn't a big hit.

Hmm, not a big fan of any of them, to be honest. But, I like/can tolerate songs by some of them. If I had to rank em, probably would look something like this:
1. New Kids On The Block 2. New Edition 3. Boyz II Men 4. N Sync 5. Backstreet Boys 6. 98 Degrees 7. Hanson 8. All-4-One 9. Jonas Brothers 10. 112

If this list was remade today, 1D would probably be between NSYNC and A4O.
