Well yeah, Tennis Court was single #3 for Pop and then it inevitably became single #4 for Alternative when Glory flopped.

Yeah but i'm saying the reason it flopped was because Tennis Court was announced on pop. We might be saying the same thing though.

uhh tennis court was advertised to "swap, not drop" with glory and gore, it's somewhere in this thread, hereDespite that, I think moving back and forth from this (if I remember correctly, it had been nearing the top 50 on one or both formats due to unsolicited airplay before a third single was announced and/or once "Tennis Court" was first picked) to "Glory & Gore" and back probably negatively impacted this release at least slightly, whether in terms of promotion, research, or radio adds. As for a next single: "Ribs" is my personal favorite.

Poor Lorde, but at least didn't fizzle out as quickly as MAGIC!- "Rude" has. 24-30 ouch! Anyway, I think the reason "Glory and Gore" started descending when "Tennis Court" debuted; is simply becuase, that's the way it should be. Out with the old and in with the new. Top 40 pop charts are the only ones who seem to break this rule. Older song's chart life usually surpasses the newer song's chart life. I can think of a few, but "Demons" and " Top of The World" come to mind. I'm glad that wasn't common practice during the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Well to be fair I do consider the mere fact that "Rude" made top 40 on alternative a fluke (if I recall it only ever officially got sent out to AAA) and expected a "Fireflies"-type run, so a #19 (Billboard) peak is certainly respectable.

With 311 shunned by the format, we need a new reggae band to take their place. Even if it means one crossing over from Pop.

My Sweet Summer is a not a reggae song, no matter how you look at it. it has the reggae stroke so technically Everything on the last album was more reggae than My Sweet Summer. Hell, I think the poppiness of MSS is what made it outpeak anything from the last album. In a just world, Spread Too Thin would have been the #1 smash that Lay Me Down was, and that would have gone like #15 at the most. And this wouldn't exist.

When she does release her next lead single, it could potentially have a fast rise/fast fall as well - maybe a Top 5-10 peak, but last like 13 weeks on.
Also, "My Sweet Summer" barely classifies as a reggae song, it's a borderline pop song that's tinged with reggae.

Even "Rude" is a hell of a lot more reggae than it is, and that's a crossover from Pop!

"Cabin By The Sea" has become my new favourite Dirty Heads single, if anyone cares.

I knew it, the whole 3rd single fiasco doomed both tracks. Ugh the two best songs on the Alt chart are losing spins.

Guys, don't you think Lorde could rebound if Tove Lo fizzles out. It's been struggling to stay top 20 status for weeks now. My guess is that if either; Meg Myers "Desire" or Lana Del Rey's "West Coast", goes top 20, then we could see the end of "Tennis Court". Not that I want that to happen, but its looks to be innevitable.

With a -222 bullet I don't see Lorde rebounding regardless of what else happens on the chart.

Drindie's theories are hilariously laughable and no matter how much we show him the facts behind the charts or point out the flaws in his arguments, he will always be stubborn and overlook what you say, because he just has to be right because he knows some radio MDs. Drindie = New Artie Ziff Only more stubborn.
