This has been one of the longest sputters I can remember. It seemed to hit a wall like 3 or 4 weeks ago and now it seems to actually be peaking.

Yep, amazed it lasted this long! Even though Unconditionally had better sales, seems it rose and fell faster than B-day. While B-Day def. didn't have the sales or streaming, seems radio def. cared for this more and clearly pushed harder for it succeed. Thank god it 'somehow' held on long enough for the songs above it to fall 'cause it reeally was looking like her first song to miss the top 10 on pop! Far as chart position (both pop and the Hot 100) it's almost exactly identical to Unconditionally. Weird. Looks like this is going to peak at #8 on pop.
Song def. is not a momentum killer though I DEF. think they should end it now. Almost a full year since Roar. That song alone w/ DH were just soo massive that they're better off ending it now. B-day simply just be another song in her catalog that some loved (like I did) or didn't lol. Very little grey area w/ this one. Though, wouldn't be surprised to not see it on some future greatest hits compilations while Unconditionally def. will be on them all. Reeks from it lol.

Why did they not release the Cash Cash remix? The original is bland s**t, the remix is an EDM masterpiece. Ok, small hyperbole, but still. ?? I thought they did release it to iTunes. Or are you talking radio? Yeah, overall people universally seemed to prefer the Cash Cash Remix to the original. Her team has basically been flawless. W/ this one they def. skipped a few beats/slacked. :/ If they pushed the Cash Cash remix to radio/certain key formats, discounted the single and did an 'alternative' (better) video or at least majorly edited version the original (and highlighted the best parts) it def. had the potential to go top 10 on the Hot 100.

I actually just heard the cash cash remix on my CHR station. It sounded good on radio.

^^^^ Kelly Clarkson's I Do Not Hook Up??? yes edit: (A song written by Katy Perry, in case anyone has forgotten) Now that it's been mentioned, it's chart run has been exactly like IDNHU and even C'Mon by K$. On a plus side, there's a good chance that they can pull off a #8 peak tomorrow. After that, this song is pretty much done. Gear thing up for Legendary Lovers. It's sort of in the darker vein like Dark Horse. Katy + her label need to stop releasing songs that they are trying to make hits. It may have worked w/ the Teenage Dream era, but isn't this time around. Unconditionally + Birthday probably shouldn't have ever been released. Let the fans decide. It seems to have paid off w/ Dark Horse. When they released it as a promo, they never had any intention of it being a single. It appears that the general public wants Walking on Air (and Legendary Lovers to a lesser extent). Not songs like Birthday & This is How We Do.

Let the fans decide? That's a horrible decision. And it's not like any even ONE fan will buy whatever single they demand cuz they already own the album, so you can eliminate all those "fan" sales right off the bat. What they need to figure out is what will sound the best on the radio, and that is TIHWD. It might not be, well it isn't, the best song for her overall catalog, but if they are looking to make money, then they've made the right decision. TIHWD will sound great on the radio mixed in with everything else. LL can wait until fall.

Can we all just take a moment to realize that this is a 4th single that went top 10. And there are already 2 SMASHES, and I mean SMASHES (Get it-SMASHES?) that were during this era.

Tbh I'm pissed. I'm glad for Katy, but this has been pushed by radio much more than it deserved. Unconditionally sounded like a bigger hit than this. It lucked out to reach top 10 but then to even reach #8 or maybe higher is a travesty

Top 10! I was worried it wasn't going to happen. This is my least favorite single so far though I enjoyed it when the cd came out but by the time it was a single I was tired.
This is how we do is fun. I'd rather walking on air. I really hope she ends the era with either By the Grace of God or Ghost or one of the other slower songs at the end of the album even if they do become her "finally".

This doesn't deserve a top placement on Pop tbh! I'm happy for her but the song does NOT deserve that

You guys. I still blast this song on repeat.
Whether or not it was the right single choice, I'm still obsessed. That and the Cash-Cash remix... Both are perfection.

I thought they already started filming the video for TIHWD? She's apparently shooting videos for two songs, one of which is TIHWD so the next single might be something else. I still think that TIHWD would have been a better 4th single than this.

I don't think anything else has a shot at #1 short of a remix. Even then.... Dark Horse hasn't really fallen off enough IMO to justify a new single release.

I alway thought they released this too soon while DH was still doing great on iTunes and on radio. Would love for this to stay steady with the positive updates and go top 5.

This era is kind of shaping up to be Katy's Born This Way era in terms of success and chart performance, minus the career-destroying image problems.
I suspect "Birthday" has killed this album's chances of producing another international hit, which is surprising to me because I honestly though it would smash. It's so catchy but the video was AWFUL, truly the worst mistake of her career so far; this hyper-childish image is NOT good for her. Katy needs to be sexy, she needs to be tongue in cheek, this video was the equivalent of going "full retard" to the point where it's off-putting to her audience. I wouldn't be shocked if she managed another Top 10 in America like how JT did it with Not a Bad Thing (best shot is "Legendary Lovers"), but in the rest of the world this album has been like a Rihanna era: 3-3.5m album sales, two big hits and a few underperformers.

Ugh this bitch is so lucky when it comes to radio. This did not deserve a top ten peak on CHR. Feels like it's made next to no impact as a single. TOY felt more notable honestly.
