That's a big update for Iggy! Columbia must be partying everyday because they are on a roll this year. Pharrell is going to break the Radio Airplay record, John Legend is f#cking smashing right along with it, Beyonce is well Beyonce, etc. They are having an awesome year so far.

"All of Me's" gains are very impressive. Scoring his true breakthrough hit a decade into his career. And the same could also be said of Pharrell- though I wonder if his track would be doing as well as it is had he not enjoyed that big "featuring" success with "Blurred Lines" and "Get Lucky."

I love "Ordinary People," as well- more so the version that had a little more "oomph"- though not the uptempo version. Does the version I'm talking about even have a name?  markg- just because a single falls short of 20 weeks doesn't indicate it's a flop. It had 19 weeks, which is fine. |

But not even making it to recurrent status is a flop for GaGa considering she released it as an official single to radio and it was "supposed" to have a somewhat lengthy run (at least as much as LoveGame or Alejandro) Born This Way also flopped for a 6-week chart topper (blocking Cee-Lo's song, which ended up being higher forever right when it became too late and was much higher on the 2011 year-end chart -___-) Just Dance (2008-2009) - 49 weeks Poker Face (2008-2009) - 40 weeks Bad Romance (2009-2010) - 34 weeks Telephone (2010) - 32 weeks Paparazzi (2009-2010) - 27 weeks Don't know if I got the years of the respective chart runs correct but you get the idea (feel free to clue me in on any song I may have missed that got at least 26 weeks on the chart) |

so it looks like at 250M BL was at about 2M updates while Happy is at more than twice as much...I'm fairly certain that Happy will not only beat BL but also crack 300M AI! Congratulations to BL for holding the record for about 7 months before being dethroned lol...

I feel like Happy crosses most musical lines. Not that a rock or country station would play it but I could understand it even on an alternative station. Certainly pop, rnb, ac...etc

It's kinda weird though when songs like Happy, Get Lucky, Wake Me Up, etc. R&B/EDM type songs go big on Triple A or Alt lol...I know they have guitar-like sounds in them and whatnot but those formats seem like they wouldn't really play pop/rhythmic/urban kinda stuff...the closest they would get to pop would be Imagine Dragons or something like that

and I just realized that We Are Young and Locked Out of Heaven are the only songs to ever be #1 on all three chart components at the same time (when it was only On-Demand and not Streaming)...and that there hasn't been a single song at #1 on all three chart components since the inception of the Streaming Songs chart last year...interesting
