I think a really good video can do a lot for her but the problem is is that she can deliver something really good but because of who she is, the video could get trashed either way. If it's good it has to be really simple or obvious.
It's also unfortunate that it's unlikely any of the songs won't work against her current image so even if the video is favourable, the song might counteract that.
Either way, it's exciting! I hope the video can do for GUY in my eyes what Alejandro's video did for that song.

How are the weird verses on Applause and the overly explict lyrics/rapist feature on DWUW safe? There are far more worse songs on the album than some "weird verses" & explicit lyrics from the Pied Piper of R&B.

How are the weird verses on Applause and the overly explict lyrics/rapist feature on DWUW safe? Rape and Consensual Sex are two different terms. Learn them.

It absolutely can. Bad single choices can ruin careers. She needs a good one right now. Why are you so harsh and extreme? Matt was totally right, she was playing safe with "Applause" and "Do What U Want", "Gypsy" wouldn't do better that the latter. "G.U.Y." could flop big time and sure it'll affect her career but preparing for career funerals? Lmao. I'm not sure if it's about what's safe or unsafe, but the release of "GUY" is extremely out of touch. If this were 2009, I'd say "good choice!" Things have changed.

I don't get it, this sounds 2012-2013 Zedd. But whatever... the chorus is kinda weak, but the verses and the pre-chorus makes up for it imo.

A bad single choice like Judas? When she was on top and had tons of hype? Yes, that hurt her (though obviously didn't kill her career). A song like G.U.Y., not-as-offensive as Judas, when eyes aren't really on her certainly won't KILL her career. This era hasn't gone well but that kind of sensationalism has been really annoying.

Still pissed to this day 'Judas' wasn't huge like it should have been. By far her most misunderstood single.

^I'm still mad it was the 2nd single instead of "Schiebe" . I'm not kidding in that I think the BTW era would have played out much better in that scenario. Love Judas though.

Judas is in my top 3 Gaga songs along with Bad Romance and Applause. They keep on interchanging positions every day tho.

I thought GUY sounded like a future single when we first heard that 12 second snippet but I don't think it's a good choice at all. The melody is nice but who is going to want to sing along to that? She's just pandering to her gay fans again and that's honestly what lost her the GP in the first place, as sad as that is to say.
I think this is just her and the label throwing out a third single and a video because it won't be a financial loss but I doubt this will get any major traction and I doubt anyone, including her, is thinking that this is going to be a comeback hit for her.
I still think she should have sent Do What U Want as the lead single, then Applause and then maybe Venus or Gypsy.

How are the weird verses on Applause and the overly explict lyrics/rapist feature on DWUW safe? Sexually explicit lyrics haven't held a song back since, what, the 60s? Unless you're talking about 'If U Seek Amy', but that's another story. Gaga scored her third consecutive chart-topper with a song saying she wanted to take a ride on a "Disco Stick"; 'Do What You Want' shouldn't have been a problem. The weird verses on 'Applause' weren't that distracting, and the music itself conformed to a lot of radio standards. Those two were certainly safer choices than just about anything else on ARTPOP, bar 'Gypsy'. She's just pandering to her gay fans again and that's honestly what lost her the GP in the first place, as sad as that is to say. Hm. Don't think that had much to do with it at all.

Opening for the tour June 26 - July 22. Interesting. Oh!! They were in high rotation in a music video channel in Jakarta in November. The most popular song was Bar Bar Bar, but this other version youtu.be/2eZHdYWhd-E

So she's added dates to the ArtRave Tour, even though it's lost $30 million. Guess that story just got shot down.
If I've learned one thing this era, it's that somebody needs to call the Red Cross because there are TOO MANY hags dying of thirst over Lady Gaga.
Now for G.U.Y:
This is the most stand-out sounding song left on the album, from the ramp-up tone at the beginning, the insane instrumental, the stealth "G.U.Y." hook in the chorus, the absolutely burning fire that is the bridge, to the outro. I know they'll probably edit out the beginning or the middle monologue and just start with the intro after "positions". Also, her background vocals on this are insane.
Mount your Goddess.

G.U.Y. is one of my favorites from her. I love the way she is building up with suspense for the video. I think all this artpop part 2 is not another album but a resurgence of an era.

I love the choice of opener. Unexpected, but they will be a LOT of fun.

I can't watch the Today thing because I have to leave for work but I'll be watching this thread and twitter to see all what's up. I meant to put this here a few days ago. I wrote a blog post about Gaga's sxsw performance about how her messages get lost because of who she is rather than there not actually being a message. www.themaxonline.net/2014/03/19/gagas-lost-messages/I hope it makes sense. :/

Just watched her on the today show...it was very brief in terms of showing any of the video. It was mainly about the interview which lasted 5 - 10 minutes. Definitely think she is treating this as a sort of re-launch of her album as she made references to Artpop as if it just came out, as opposed to an album that has been on the market almost 6 months. She also managed to work in plugs for her stint at Roseland, her big tour, her video, and her dad's restaurant. Gotta give the girl credit for making the most out of those 10 minutes..hahah.

This looks promising too. I feel like they'll try to do what they planned before "Applause". Fingers crossed.
