Oh no! End of the road for "Something From Nothing" :( However, the debut for "Salt" Also, still rooting for "Shut Up And Dance" to take the top.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!! Last chart of the year! Shocking new #1!! LW | TW | Song + Artist | Peak | Plays | 5 | 1 | She Keeps Me Up by: Nickelback | 1 (1) | 50 | 3 | 2 | All This Could Be Yours by: Cold War Kids | 2 | 53 | 1 | 3 | Million Miles an Hour by: Nickelback | 1 (3) | 52 | 2 | 4 | Shut Up and Dance by: WALK THE MOON | 2 | 76 | 4 | 5 | Go Quietly by: Cold War Kids | 4 | 44 | 6 | 6 | Karaoke by: Smallpools | 6 | 38 | 8 | 7 | Love Me Harder by: Ariana Grande & The Weeknd | 7 | 41 | 12 | 8 | Wet Dreamz by: J. Cole | 8 | 34 | 7 | 9 | Resonance by: LuvBug (feat. Talay Riley) | 1 (1) | 103 | 11 | 10 | Carnivore by: Starset | 10 | 32 | 14 | 11 | Salt by: Bad Suns | 11 | 49 | 9 | 12 | The Business of Emotion by: Big Data (feat. White Sea) | 1 (2) | 51 | 15 | 13 | Somebody New by: Joywave | 13 | 35 | 13 | 14 | Edge of a Revolution by: Nickelback | 1 (7) | 108 | 10 | 15 | All About It by: Hoodie Allen | 10 | 30 | D | 16 | Talking Body by: Tove Lo | 16 | 37 | 17 | 17 | Habits by: Tove Lo | 1 (13) | 177 | 18 | 18 | Never Stop by: SafetySuit | 1 (18) | 334 | 16 | 19 | What Are You Waiting For? by: Nickelback | 1 (5) | 115 | D | 20 | Lampshades on Fire by: Modest Mouse | 20 | 19 |
Notes: - Surprising twist this week for #1! "She Keeps Me Up" fliiiiies to the top from #5 for its first week atop, and Nickelback's 4th number one from No Fixed Address. At the beginning of the charting week, it was looking to stay at #5, but it picked up rapidly mid-week before finishing with a +12 play increase. Something about the song just clicked with me this week and I have really fallen in love with it. It's on some high ground right now, but it could fall on the next chart. The single cover that is in my profile picture was designed by my friend at @nickelbackworld on Twitter, also the maker of the "Million Miles an Hour" single cover.
- The Top 6 stays the same, but 5 of the 6 move.
- "All This Could Be Yours" by: Cold War Kids moves to the #2 spot this week for a new peak. It is looking like the likeliest replacement for "She Keeps Me Up" at the top, but strangers things have happened.
- The top 2 spots from last week fall to the #3 & #4 spots this week, "Million Miles an Hour" and "Shut Up and Dance". "Million Miles an Hour" could see a trip back up to the top soon, but it has started to lose momentum. "Shut Up and Dance" is another song that could hit #1 anytime in the future. This one should have some major longevity to it.
- "Love Me Harder" by: Ariana Grande & The Weeknd move into the #7 spot (from #8), gaining a new peak. This might be as high as the song could get at this point, considering the Top 6 are far above it. It'll try to move next week, but it could stay or fall a position.
- J. Cole blasts into the Top 10 this week with "Wet Dreamz" moving 12-8 this week for a new peak. This could be the only song that could pass up "Love Me Harder", and could possibly break the tightly-woven Top 6. Next week should be an interesting week for the song.
- "Carnivore" by: Starset moves into the Top 10 also, moving 11-10. It has moved up fairly slowly, but is still seeing movement. It'll look to move slightly next week.
- Bad Suns also move up with "Salt", going 14-11 this week for a new peak. It'll look to get into the Top 10 next week.
- "Somebody New" by: Joywave climbs 15-13 this week for a new peak. It is moving up pretty slow compared to its original prediction. It has pretty much switched places with "Carnivore" (which was thought to be a slow rise and quick fall).
- Tove Lo takes the top debut this week with "Talking Body" coming in at #16. It has seen some very major gains these past few weeks after being announced as the next single. It has also killed off the momentum that "Not On Drugs" was gaining. That song will look to re-enter yet again later next year. Tove Lo will look to continue where she left off with her first single "Habits" (#17) nailing the top for 13 weeks, the highest amount of the year. She should have a great 2015.
- Modest Mouse make their chart debut this week with their comeback single "Lampshades on Fire" coming at the #20 spot. It just barely debuted this week, as it edged out "Bats" by: James Wolpert for the final position. If it stays on the chart next week could be a little iffy, but still possible.
Next week next year could see more debuts coming in. One more nearly debuted this week, but just missed. There are also other songs that are making big increases. 2015 should be a very interesting year considering the end of this year has been pretty erratic.
On the Rise: "I Am Machine" by: Three Days Grace "Same Damn Life" by: Seether "Only" by: Nicki Minaj (feat. Drake, Lil Wayne & Chris Brown) "Pray To God" by: Calvin Harris (feat. HAIM) "Trouble" by: Ethel and the Chordtones (feat. Ryan Levine) "Brains Out" by: Kim Cesarion "A Taste of Silver" by: Until the Ribbon Breaks "Outside" by: Calvin Harris (feat. Ellie Goulding) "coffee" by: Miguel "Untraveled Road" by: Thousand Foot Krutch "I Don't F*ck With You" by: Big Sean (feat. E-40) Re-Entry Watch: "Bats" by: James Wolpert "She Knows" by: Ne-Yo (feat. Juicy J) Dropouts: "Bats" by: James Wolpert (from #19) Peak: 19 "The Hammer's Coming Down" by: Nickelback (from #20) Peak: 18

Happy New Year!! First chart of 2015! LW | TW | Song + Artist | Peak | Plays | 1 | 1 | She Keeps Me Up by: Nickelback | 1 (2) | 55 | 3 | 2 | Million Miles an Hour by: Nickelback | 1 (3) | 54 | 4 | 3 | Shut Up and Dance by: WALK THE MOON | 2 | 77 | 2 | 4 | All This Could Be Yours by: Cold War Kids | 2 | 53 | 8 | 5 | Wet Dreamz by: J. Cole | 5 | 40 | 5 | 6 | Go Quietly by: Cold War Kids | 4 | 45 | 6 | 7 | Karaoke by: Smallpools | 6 | 39 | 7 | 8 | Love Me Harder by: Ariana Grande & The Weeknd | 7 | 42 | 9 | 9 | Resonance by: LuvBug (feat. Talay Riley) | 1 (1) | 105 | 10 | 10 | Carnivore by: Starset | 10 | 34 | 11 | 11 | Salt by: Bad Suns | 11 | 50 | 14 | 12 | Edge of a Revolution by: Nickelback | 1 (7) | 112 | 12 | 13 | The Business of Emotion by: Big Data (feat. White Sea) | 1 (2) | 52 | 20 | 14 | Lampshades on Fire by: Modest Mouse | 14 | 24 | 17 | 15 | Habits by: Tove Lo | 1 (13) | 179 | 13 | 16 | Somebody New by: Joywave | 13 | 36 | 18 | 17 | Never Stop by: SafetySuit | 1 (18) | 336 | 15 | 18 | All About It by: Hoodie Allen (feat. Ed Sheeran) | 10 | 32 | D | 19 | Same Damn Life by: Seether | 19 | 22 | D | 20 | I Am Machine by: Three Days Grace | 20 | 36 |
Notes: - "She Keeps Me Up" by: Nickelback keeps the top spot for its second week, and is the first #1 for 2015! This shall be a very interesting year if the 4th quarter of 2014 is any indication. #1 is still anybody's game.
- Cold War Kids have their first bad week on the chart, as both "All This Could Be Yours" (2-4) and "Go Quietly" (5-6) fall this week. "All This Could Be Yours" seemed to be the frontrunner for #1 this week, but couldn't capitalize on its original prediction. The song is far from over, and #1 is still very possible.
- "Wet Dreamz" by: J. Cole keeps trucking along as it breaks apart the tight Top 6 to climb 8-5 this week for a new peak. This might be as high as it can get, but who knows, it did just break the Top 6 that seemed unbreakable.
- "Edge of a Revolution" by: Nickelback sees its first positive week in awhile as it climbs 14-12 this week, with a +4 update. This will probably stabilize in the Riptide Region for the foreseeable future.
- Looks like Modest Mouse will live on! "Lampshades on Fire" rockets 20-14 this week for a new peak. The song has a lot of steam behind it and Top 10 is not necessarily out of the picture for it. This could actually play out to be a big hit on my chart for them, without having any past hits on here.
- "All About It" by: Hoodie Allen (feat. Ed Sheeran) keeps slipping as it falls yet again to #18. It is starting to regain though, as it picked up towards the end of the week. It likely won't see the end for awhile as its updates are suggesting, so it should stay around this region and possibly climb up soon. Also, we can give hoodie Allen a big welcome to the Pulse family!
He debunked my suspicions lol.
- Seether will take the top debut of the two this week with "Same Damn Life" coming in at #19. This will look to follow-up the major success "Words as Weapons" (Peak: #3) had on the chart earlier last (feels weird) year. "Words as Weapons" also debuted at #19, and stayed there for two more weeks before blowing tf up. This will hope for the same.
- "I Am Machine" by: Three Days Grace is the other debut that comes in at #20 this week. This is the first single to chart from the Matt Walst era, as "Painkiller" was only able to get into the On the Rise chart for quite some weeks. "Painkiller" probably should have charted though, oops. This marks Three Days Grace's first overall chart, and marks the return of Matt Walst to the chart! He has had a lot of success on the chart with his (previous?) band My Darkest Days, who saw the top of the chart a few years ago with "Porn Star Dancing" and multiple hits on the chart, 14 total! Their last chart entry was with the song "Sick and Twisted Affair", which got to #10 two years ago. If MDD is any indication, the new TDG should have multiple hits coming soon.
- Tove Lo's luck keeps falling as "Talking Body" falls off the chart from #16. It was looking to stay, but with the two debuts coming in, it was the odd one out since it didn't increase at all. She should see a re-entry in the very near future.
- 5 week #1, "What Are You Waiting For?" by: Nickelback falls off the chart this week also. It had a hot start and quick fall on the chart, pretty much landsliding off the chart with no increases for a few weeks. This week it actually had a positive week, moving up 4 plays, but like "Talking Body", it was the odd one out. Both are on the Re-Entry Watch, along with "She Knows" by: Ne-Yo (feat. Juicy J) for like the millionth time.
On the Rise: "Surrender" by: Cash Cash "Trouble" by: Ethel and the Chordtones (feat. Ryan Levine) "A Taste of Silver" by: Until the Ribbon Breaks "Pray to God" by: Calvin Harris (feat. HAIM) "Outside" by: Calvin Harris (feat. Ellie Goulding) "Only" by: Nicki Minaj (feat. Drake, Lil Wayne & Chris Brown) "Untraveled Road" by: Thousand Foot Krutch Re-Entry Watch: "Talking Body" by: Tove Lo "What Are You Waiting For?" by: Nickelback "She Knows" by: Ne-Yo (feat. Juicy J) Dropouts: "Talking Body" by: Tove Lo (from #16) Peak: 16 "What Are You Waiting For?" by: Nickelback Peak: 1 (5 weeks)

I must have missed "Lampshades on Fire" last week - I'm glad to see it move that much! That number one just keeps evading "Shut Up and Dance" hehe. I hope 'Salt" isn't stalling. Also, I recently checked out the "Wet Dreamz" - like it!! Great chart!

NEW #1! LW | TW | Song + Artist | Peak | Plays | 3 | 1 | Shut Up and Dance by: WALK THE MOON | 1 (1) | 79 | 4 | 2 | All This Could Be Yours by: Cold War Kids | 2 | 55 | 1 | 3 | She Keeps Me Up by: Nickelback | 1 (2) | 56 | 2 | 4 | Million Miles an Hour by: Nickelback | 1 (3) | 55 | 6 | 5 | Go Quietly by: Cold War Kids | 4 | 47 | 5 | 6 | Wet Dreamz by: J. Cole | 5 | 41 | 9 | 7 | Resonance by: LuvBug (feat. Talay Riley) | 1 (1) | 106 | 7 | 8 | Karaoke by: Smallpools | 6 | 40 | 8 | 9 | Love Me Harder by: Ariana Grande & The Weeknd | 7 | 42 | 11 | 10 | Salt by: Bad Suns | 10 | 51 | 12 | 11 | Edge of a Revolution by: Nickelback | 1 (7) | 113 | 13 | 12 | The Business of Emotion by: Big Data (feat. White Sea) | 1 (2) | 53 | 14 | 13 | Lampshades on Fire by: Modest Mouse | 13 | 25 | 17 | 14 | Never Stop by: SafetySuit | 1 (18) | 341 | D | 15 | A Taste of Silver by: Until the Ribbon Breaks | 15 | 23 | 10 | 16 | Carnivore by: Starset | 10 | 34 | 15 | 17 | Habits by: Tove Lo | 1 (13) | 179 | 19 | 18 | Same Damn Life by: Seether | 18 | 24 | D | 19 | Revive (Say Something) by: LuvBug | 19 | 19 | 20 | 20 | I Am Machine by: Three Days Grace | 20 | 37 |
Notes: - "Shut Up and Dance" by: WALK THE MOON finally takes the top spot this week after spending months in the upper range of the Top 10; it moves 3-1 this week. It has nearly taken the top spot numerous times the past month or so (since "Million Miles an Hour" first took the top), but it was finally able to achieve it weeks later. Now it just leaves "All This Could Be Yours" by: Cold War Kids (4-2) to take the top spot as it has a similar fate as "Shut Up and Dance" has this past month.
- The only other movement in the Top 10 is that "Salt" by: Bad Suns moves up a spot, pushing 11-10 for a new peak. It really didn't have to fight much for the spot as "Carnivore" fell easily this week. The #10 spot has had a lot of bad luck lately ("Dangerous", "All About It", "Carnivore"), where songs spend a good amount of weeks there then just drop dramatically. "Salt" will look to move past it next week.
- Modest Mouse move up once more with "Lampshades on Fire" going 14-13 this week for a new peak. It is starting to slow down a bit after a good start. It'll look to keep moving, but at this rate, it might not move much more. Hopefully it'll regain some life soon.
- "Never Stop" by: SafetySuit picks up 17-14 this week with a +5 play increase. It has been seeing better days these past few weeks, as things are starting to look positive again. This upcoming chart period will mark the 3 year anniversary of the song being on the chart. Also in great news, SafetySuit finally broke their year-long silence yesterday (exactly one year since their last post ), so it looks like they're still a band and hopefully new music comes soon! Yesterday consisted of me listening to SafetySuit all day lol (hence some of its gain).
- Until the Ribbon Breaks make their chart debut this week with "A Taste of Silver" coming in at #15. It has been making major gains over the week, getting it a high debut. I actually forgot to debut this at first, and realized I forgot it and had to redo the last 6 positions lol. "Surrender" by: Cash Cash debuted at #20 originally, but was pushed out of the Top 20 with this moving in. This one will be one to look out for because it has been making some serious gains since I added it to my iTunes.
- "Carnivore" by: Starset falls 6 places this week, going 10-16. As previously said, the #10 spot has brought some bad luck with it, as this spent a few weeks there and fell dramatically this week. This has happened with a few other songs, some peaked at #10, some didn't. This is probably looking at the end of its run.
- Seether moves up this week with "Same Damn Life" moving 19-18 for a new peak. It's not going to spend multiple weeks then explode like its predecessor "Words As Weapons" did. This started off with a 2 play increase right off the bat at the beginning of the period, but couldn't do anything after. It's future is hard to predict at this point.
- Luvbug score the final debut, and their second career charting with "Revive (Say Something)" coming in at #19. The song skips over the On the Rise chart, as it soared at the end of the week after not doing anything in the beginning. Most of its plays came from Sunday onwards. This one, like "Resonance" (9-7), should be another hit for the trio.
- Joywave and Hoodie Allen fall off the chart this week with "Somebody New" and "All About It" respectively. They were both decreasing, but it looked like they could hold up in the bottom part, but with the 2 debuts coming in, it didn't look too good. They both would have fallen next week with 2 more debuts looking likely.
On the Rise: "Surrender" by: Cash Cash "Twin Skeleton's (Hotel In NYC)" by: Fall Out Boy "Trouble" by: Ethel and the Chordtones (feat. Ryan Levine) "No Control" by: One Direction "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" by: One Direction "The Kids Aren't Alright" by: Fall Out Boy "Night Changes" by: One Direction "Novocaine" by: Fall Out Boy "Faith" by: Calvin Harris Re-Entry Watch: "Talking Body" by: Tove Lo Dropouts: "Somebody New" by: Joywave (from #16) Peak: 13 "All About It" by: Hoodie Allen (feat. Ed Sheeran) (from #18) Peak: 10

LW | TW | Song + Artist | Peak | Plays | 1 | 1 | Shut Up and Dance by: WALK THE MOON | 1 (2) | 82 | 3 | 2 | She Keeps Me Up by: Nickelback | 1 (2) | 60 | 2 | 3 | All This Could Be Yours by: Cold War Kids | 2 | 57 | 5 | 4 | Go Quietly by: Cold War Kids | 4 | 50 | 6 | 5 | Wet Dreamz by: J. Notes: - "Shut Up and Dance" by: WALK THE MOON takes its second week atop the chart. Despite the close race between the Top 4 right now, it held its position fairly easily. "She Keeps Me Up" by: Nickelback (3-2) had a shot retake the throne, but "Shut Up and Dance" edged it out.
- Ariana Grande & The Weeknd move up this week with their duet, "Love Me Harder", rebounding 9-6 for a new peak. This has been able to stay steady in the Top 10 for the recent past, and it doesn't look to be leaving soon. It might not be able to make it past #5, but it should stay in the same range it has been for the foreseeable future.
- "Salt" by: Bad Suns picks up this week, going 10-7 for a new peak. The track was able to surpass the bad luck spot of #10 and should be able to see a lot of upper movement in the future. It got a little resurged due to my year-end chart (see bottom), their album finished in 4th place in the Album of the Year race.
- Nickelback is on the downwards fashion now, as "Million Miles an Hour" got shot in the foot this week, dropping 4-8. It hasn't been faring well since it left the top spot a month ago, and now looks to be sort of done. It should be able to stick around in the Top 10 for a little awhile, but for how long is very questionable. "Edge of a Revolution" also takes a big drop, going 11-15 this week, but actually had a positive week. This and "Lampshades on Fire" (13-16) should both be able to rebound after this week, as some songs were having some good movement.
- "The Business of Emotion" by: Big Data (feat. White Sea) is now looking positive again, as it goes 12-11 this week, nearing the Top 10. It downfalled a bit after leaving the top spot (sort of becoming a trend...), but it started to stabilize a few weeks ago, and is now looking to go back up again. A second #1 run is not totally farfetched as it hasn't even started its run on Alternative radio yet, I started pretty early on this. This could be a long runner for 2015 (like "Dangerous" should have been for 2014 :/).
- As LuvBug falls with one ("Resonance"; 7-10), they gain with another. "Revive (Say Something)" blasts 19-12 this week with a +8 play increase, as it is having a lot of momentum behind it. This one could potentially #1 in the future, and each week it is looking better and better. Next week should be a fairly easy Top 10 grab for it.
- Until the Ribbon Breaks also climb up this week, with "A Taste of Silver" going 15-13 this week, in its second week, for a new peak. This is also another one that could be a future #1. It doesn't have the amount of momentum "Revive (Say Something)" does, but it might be able to gain a lot in this period coming up. Their album, A Lesson Unlearnt, will be released on Tuesday, and it is already benefitting from it as I have been streaming it on NPR quite a bit and I'm more than likely buying it on Tuesday (depending if I can find a physical version). Next week they should find themselves with a few songs on the On the Rise chart.
- Fall Out Boy takes the lone debut of the week with "Twin Skeleton's (Hotel In NYC)" coming in at #18. This is one of the three songs that I liked on the record, and this one will actually look to be a strong album track (potentially "Go Quietly" caliber). I was first interested in the song when it was announced due to its uncanny resemblance to the movie The Skeleton Twins (
Oscar snubbed in so many ways), which features my bae Kristen Wiig, but it has nothing to do with it lol. Maybe the title was an inspiration (probably not doe lol). - "I Am Machine" by: Three Days Grace spends yet another week at #20, as its spent its whole 3 week life there so far. It's been having positive updates, but it has been getting outweighed by the debuts that are coming in. It's future is pretty hard to predict as this point in time.
So I have been dabbling with the idea of expanding the chart to 40 positions, instead of the short 20 I do. There's actually quite a bit of people that use 100 (how do you pick 100 songs!?), but I know I won't go higher than 40. If I do do this, it won't be for awhile. I might try doing a mock-up 40 in my iTunes and update every week along with this and see how it goes. I don't even think I'll be able to fill it out lol. If this gets done, the future of On the Rise and Re-Entry Watch might be in jeopardy since all of them would obviously be in the Top 40. But hey, who knows lol. Stay tuned!
On the Rise: "Trouble" by: Ethel and the Chordtones (feat. Ryan Levine) "Linger" by: Guy Sebastian (feat. Lupe Fiasco) "Surrender" by: Cash Cash "Goodbye" by: Fancy "Kathleen" by: Catfish and the Bottlemen "Honey, I'm Good." by: Andy Grammer "Here We Go" by: Alex & Sierra "Novocaine" by: Fall Out Boy "I Want Out" by: Young Guns "Heartbeat Song" by: Kelly Clarkson "Work This Body" by: WALK THE MOON Re-Entry Watch: "Kiss the Devil (Just A Gent Remix)" by: Bel Heir Dropouts: "Carnivore" by: Starset (from #15) Peak: 10
Also, my award show is almost done! All that is left is the Top 3 for Album of the Year, which will be posted tomorrow. Check out all the other nominations/winners, and stay tuned for tomorrow! Click me!

Fun news!
On the chart posted on January 29th*, the chart will be expanded to a Top 40! I was able to get the next 20 entries in fairly easily, so it looks like I will start on this earlier than expected. The reason it won't be next week, is that I want to see how each song is going to move up/down in the second half of the chart. Next week's chart might be a little boring, as there might not be much movement (though a few debuts are looking strong) since now I have a ranking system for most of the songs on On the Rise. And both On the Rise and Re-Entry Watch will not be retired, as some of the songs from the last On the Rise aren't even in the Top 40, so it will be a little smaller, but not too drastic. Re-Entry Watch might take awhile to get going, but it should stay relatively the same considering some weeks don't even have a song on it.
* - Date may change depending on if I work that day. 20 is hard for me to do before work, so I'd expect 40 to be a haul. Date may change to the 30th.

Last Top 20 chart! Next week is Top 40 time! New (possibly record-breaking) #1! LW | TW | Song + Artist | Peak | Plays | 13 | 1 | A Taste of Silver by: Until the Ribbon Breaks | 1 (1) | 40 | 2 | 2 | She Keeps Me Up by: Nickelback | 1 (2) | 63 | 1 | 3 | Shut Up and Dance by: WALK THE MOON | 1 (2) | 82 | 5 | 4 | Wet Dreamz by: J. Cole | 4 | 44 | 3 | 5 | All This Could Be Yours by: Cold War Kids | 2 | 57 | 4 | 6 | Go Quietly by: Cold War Kids | 4 | 50 | 12 | 7 | Revive (Say Something) by: LuvBug | 7 | 30 | 7 | 8 | Salt by: Bad Suns | 7 | 54 | 9 | 9 | Karaoke by: Smallpools | 6 | 42 | 8 | 10 | Million Miles an Hour by: Nickelback | 1 (3) | 57 | 16 | 11 | Lampshades on Fire by: Modest Mouse | 11 | 30 | 6 | 12 | Love Me Harder by: Ariana Grande & The Weeknd | 6 | 44 | 14 | 13 | Never Stop by: SafetySuit | 1 (18) | 346 | 10 | 14 | Resonance by: LuvBug (feat. Talay Riley) | 1 (1) | 108 | 18 | 15 | Twin Skeleton's (Hotel In NYC) by: Fall Out Boy | 15 | 27 | 11 | 16 | The Business of Emotion by: Big Data (feat. White Sea) | 1 (2) | 56 | 15 | 17 | Edge of a Revolution by: Nickelback | 1 (7) | 114 | 17 | 18 | Habits by: Tove Lo | 1 (13) | 182 | 19 | 19 | Same Damn Life by: Seether | 18 | 27 | D | 20 | Trouble by: Ethel and the Chordtones (feat. Ryan Levine) | 20 | 21 |
Notes: - Until the Ribbon Breaks absolutely owns the chart this week. Placing 7 songs on the On the Rise chart, 6 of them from their debut album, A Lesson Unlearnt, they should see a great week next week with the newly expanded Top 40. The biggest move is obviously "A Taste of Silver", soaring from #13 to the top spot this week, gaining a +14 play increase, and it is still rapidly moving forward. This might be a record-breaking move, as this might be the lowest position a song has jumped from to get to #1. I'm not sure what the actual (or previous) record is, but this probably topped it. The song gained major momentum this week, and not even all of it came from their album being released, but that did play a big part (nearly half the play increase). This should see the top for the foreseeable future, as their album is probably going to be the only thing I listen to for a little while. #obsessed
- "Wet Dreamz" by: J. Cole moves up a spot, moving 5-4 this week for a new peak. This might be the highest it gets, as it has been losing momentum recently. Next week should be interesting for it.
- LuvBug replaces themselves in the Top 10 this week, with "Revive (Say Something)" climbing 12-7 for a new peak. This one was the competition for "A Taste of Silver" and was beating it through its first few weeks, but obviously it got blown out of the water this week. This one should be a lock for the Top 5 next week with Cold War Kids on the way down with both of their songs. "Resonance" falls 10-14 this week, falling out of the Top 10 for the first time in months.
- As expected, "Lampshades on Fire" by: Modest Mouse rebounds this week, moving 16-11 for a new peak. It fell last week due to a few tracks moving rapidly, but this week it came back to life. The Top 10 should be a pretty easy feat next week for the track.
- Ariana Grande & The Weeknd take a huge hit this week with "Love Me Harder" dropping 6 positions to #12, after setting a new peak last week (#6). The song has had an odd run, but it looks the buzz is going down for sure. With what has happened in the past, it's too early to tell if it is officially done or not.
- "Twin Skelton's (Hotel In NYC)" by: Fall Out Boy moves up in its second week, going 18-15 for a new peak. The song is one of the few from their latest album, American Beauty / American Psycho, that I actually like, so this should be gaining all the success it can. "The Kids Aren't Alright" and "Novocaine" are the only other two that I bought from the album, and one of them is in the Top 40, but it might not be there when the chart gets posted next week. This song should be able to stick in the Top 20 next week, but if it rises or falls is iffy.
- "Trouble" by: Ethel and the Chordtones (feat. Ryan Levine) finally makes its debut this week at #20. It has been towards the top of the On the Rise chart since it first debuted there back on Christmas Day, but it was just not able to make it any of the times. It was residing at #21, and with "I Am Machine" stalling yet again this week, it was an easy debut to make, despite not being a high one. This one was actually looking to compete with "A Taste of Silver" when I first added them, but obviously "A Taste of Silver" was the one that clicked the most.
On the Rise: "Linger" by: Guy Sebastian (feat. Lupe Fiasco) "Honey, I'm Good." by: Andy Grammer "One Way Or Another" by: Until the Ribbon Breaks "Spark" by: Until the Ribbon Breaks "Perspective" by: Until the Ribbon Breaks (feat. Homeboy Sandman) "Surrender" by: Cash Cash "Pressure" by: Until the Ribbon Breaks "Goodbye" by: Fancy "Romeo" by: Until the Ribbon Breaks "Revolution Indifference" by: Until the Ribbon Breaks (feat. Run the Jewels) "Novocaine" by: Fall Out Boy "Orca" by: Until the Ribbon Breaks Re-Entry Watch: "Satellite" by: Nickelback "Bats" by: James Wolpert Dropouts: "I Am Machine" by: Three Days Grace (from #20) Peak: 20
Next week will see the expansion of the chart, moving from a Top 20 to a Top 40. You will be able to see some songs that fell off and are still able to hold on, and you'll see some new ones! When I do post the chart, the numbers will look like it is a normal chart. It won't be like my first chart here were the 'last week' column was blank. I've been keeping track these past few weeks, so there will be different peaks on most songs, along with the last week column being filled in. Since a Top 40 will obviously take longer to make, the charting day will more than likely be moved to Wednesdays now. I work today, and get my schedule today, so I will confirm it later tonight or tomorrow. I don't normally work on Wednesdays, so it seems like the best day for me. I decided not to do Fridays, since sometimes I actually do work that day, and I feel like it's a little late in the week for me to post (OCD probs lol). So there will most likely be a chart on Wednesday, January 28. If I do work that day, I will switch it to Thursday (I think lol), and then switch it the following week. Next week should be an interesting week for me then. :)

It would be seeing the end very soon, but now that I am expanding to a Top 40 next week, it'll probably make it to the one year mark, or at least approach it since it is starting to falter.

Welcome to the new Top 40!! With the new expanded chart, you will get to see songs that dropped off not too long ago, some old chart favorites, some new ones, and more! Everything about the chart will be pretty similar to the old one, except now it is a lot easier to debut. Hopefully with this, I can get more out of my favorite songs, and show you guys what my musical tastes really are like.
YouTube links have been provided for songs that have not appeared in the Top 20 prior to this week.
Enjoy!
Notes:
- Until the Ribbon Breaks leads the new pack of 40 this week with "A Taste of Silver" garnering its second week atop the chart with a +11 play increase. It now has a huge lead over everyone, with "She Keeps Me Up" by: Nickelback (2-2) being the closest one, but still being fairly far behind. This should see the top for well foreseeable future.
- "Revive (Say Something)" by: LuvBug flies 7-4 this week for a new peak. It just keeps moving up, but the increases are getting smaller by the week. This is probably the only one at the moment that could possibly take over the top spot, but it still has a long ways to go for that to happen. This will look to break apart the tight Top 3 next week.
- "Salt" by: Bad Suns moves 8-6 this week for a new peak. It's moving slowly, but surely, as next week could be a fairly attainable goal for the Top 5.
- Modest Mouse moves into the Top 10 this week with "Lampshades on Fire" moving up 11-10. It's back to getting positive updates again and things are looking good for the track again. How far up it goes is unpredictable at this point, but it should look to move up next week.
- Fall Out Boy gains two new peaks this week with "Twin Skeleton's (Hotel In NYC)" and "The Kids Aren't Alright", going 15-12 and 40-38 respectively. "Twin Skeleton's (Hotel In NYC)" will look to move up a little bit more, as it still has some momentum going. Top 10 isn't totally out of the picture for it next week. "The Kids Aren't Alright" was able to stay away from elimination this week, but next week it faces it yet again with a whole slew of songs ready to debut. "Uma Thurman" is among one of the possible (and likely) debuts next week.
- "Trouble" by: Ethel and the Chordtones (feat. Ryan Levine) moves up 20-14 this week for a new peak. It was able to rise easily with the songs above it last week starting to collapse. It only had a +4 play increase, but things were easier for it this week. It could move up next week, but it's a longshot to move up a lot.
- "Linger" by: Guy Sebastian (feat. Lupe Fiasco) rises into the Top 20 this week, going 22-17 for a new peak. This one has been having a lot of momentum behind it, and could rise quite high these next few weeks. This is Guy Sebastian's second entry on the chart, "Battle Scars" (also with Lupe Fiasco) peaked at #8 awhile ago. He saw some songs on the On the Rise chart last year with "Like A Drum" and "Mama Ain't Proud", but couldn't get them to debut. This is Lupe's third, following "Battle Scars" and "The Show Goes On" (#6). The duo also has another song on the On the Rise chart, "Blur My Hands".
- Andy Grammer moves up this week with "Honey, I'm Good." going 24-21 for a new peak. It had a lot of momentum a few weeks ago, climbing 36-24 two weeks ago, but most of it has died down. This is Andy's second song from Magazine or Novels to chart, as "Back Home" was a #1 hit for 2 weeks last year. This will look to enter the Top 20 next week.
- Until the Ribbon Breaks has a monster week this week, having 7 songs on the chart with 4 of them debuting. "One Way Or Another" (not from their debut), climbs 26-22 this week for a new peak. It'll look for the Top 20 next week. "Spark" climbs 33-28 in its second week on the chart. It'll look Top 25 next week. "Perspective", "Pressure", "Revolution Indifference", and "Romeo" debut at #32, #35, #36, and #40 respectively. It's unknown if any will be here next week, but still a great week from the newcomers nonetheless.
- "Goodbye" by: mystery artist Fancy (Fancy Hagood thanks to Kurt and Adam (UTR)'s good work) catapults 36-27 this week for a new peak. The song is starting to gain a lot of momentum, so next week should be a huge indicator on how well it does in the future.
- Young Guns climbs 37-31 this week with "I Want Out" for a new peak. It had a +3 play increase this week, but has had an odd run so far. It has popped in and out of the On the Rise chart when it was a Top 20, and it'll look at a similar deal with this. This one should have a funky ride.
- New chart entries for you guys come from Guy Sebastian, Andy Grammer, Until the Ribbon Breaks, Cash Cash, Fancy, Young Guns, and Fall Out Boy, plus previous entries from Tove Lo, Three Days Grace, Bel Heir, Hoodie Allen, Ne-Yo, Nickelback, and James Wolpert. Hope everyone enjoys this Top 40 more!
On the Rise: "Follow Me" by: Hardwell (feat. Jason Derulo) "Uma Thurman" by: Fall Out Boy "Gold" by: Imagine Dragons "Back to the Stars" by: Until the Ribbon Breaks "Teach Me" by: Joey Bada$$ (feat. Kiesza) "Whatcha Gonna Do" by: Drop City Yacht Club (feat. Guy Sebastian) "Nothing Really Matters" by: Mr. Probz "Blur My Hands" by: Lupe Fiasco (feat. Guy Sebastian) "Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)" by: AWOLNATION "Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix)" by: Omi "Deliver" by: Lupe Fiasco "Kathleen" by: Catfish and the Bottlemen "Hurricane" by: Lifehouse "Kings and Queens" by: Brooke Fraser "Calling Out" by: Penguin Prison
Re-Entry Watch: None
Dropouts: (from last week): "Ink" by: Coldplay (from #37) Peak: 37 "When We Come Alive" by: Switchfoot (from #40) Peak: 40
(from this week): "Somebody New" by: Joywave (from #32) Peak: 13 "Carnivore" by: Starset (from #34) Peak: 10 "Pray to God" by: Calvin Harris (feat. HAIM) (from #35) Peak: 30 "Untraveled Road" by: Thousand Foot Krutch (from #39) Peak: 34

Notes: - "A Taste of Silver" by: Until the Ribbon Breaks takes the throne for its third week atop the chart. Second place ("Shut Up and Dance") is far away at this moment, and it looks like "A Taste of Silver" will be able to hold the top for the foreseeable future. This does have the potential to turn into the longest runner of the year, like "Habits" (18-20) and "Counting Stars" in years prior.
- Bad Suns hop into the Top 5 this week with "Salt" moving 6-4 for a new peak. The Top 5 is relatively thin at the moment, so it was a pretty easy grab for the song. The Top 3, however, is miles above the rest of the chart, and they don't look to be leaving anytime soon. This will probably be "Salt"'s peak, as it is already starting to simmer down.
- "Lampshades on Fire" by: Modest Mouse keeps moving along, as it goes 10-8 this week for a new peak. The song is making steady movements upwards, so next week, the Top 5 isn't far away, but it will have to work for it.
- "Million Miles an Hour" by: Nickelback is the lone new entry in the Top 10, rebounding 11-10 this week. It has been seeing bad weeks for awhile now, but this is a nice change for the track. It doesn't look like it'll move much higher, but it should stabilize in the Riptide Region when it gets there.
- "Trouble" by: Ethel and the Chordtones (feat. Ryan Levine) move up 14-12 this week for a new peak. It has been debunking my predictions, as I expected it to not get much past its debut (#20), but it has moved up every week since. The song isn't moving up quickly, but with "Wet Dreamz" (9-11) floundering and "Million Miles an Hour" looking to go down soon, this might be able to edge out the Top 10 next week.
- Mat Kearney takes the top debut this week in a big way. "Billion" debuts at #13 this week with a 29 play debut, and it has only been 3 days. This might be able to make large noise next week when it finally has a full week under its belt. This one is one to look out for. This is Mat's first entry from JUST KIDS, as "Heartbeat" was only able to get on the On the Rise chart. Mat has seen the chart one other time with "Ships In the Night" (#2), but is still one of my favorite artists... This album has so far been a little underwhelming, but I hope once I purchase the album, I'll find another "Ships In the Night" (if this isn't it).
- Until the Ribbon Breaks climbs with two songs this week, "One Way Or Another" and "Perspective". The Blondie cover, "One Way Or Another", takes a big leap going 22-16 for a new peak. It saw a huge gain this week, moving a +8 play increase. It'll look to move up again next week. "Perspective" is the only one of the UTRB debuts to climb this week, as it pushes 32-25 with a +9 play increase. Until the Ribbon Breaks sees yet another possible song that can debut, as "Bang" appears on On the Rise this week, which is not apart of their debut album (from a soundtrack). This band looks to have a huge year on my charts. Considering they haven't even had a single sent to radio is even more outstanding.
- "Goodbye" by:
Who Is Fancy moves 27-24 for a new peak. The track is making some big gains now, and it could turn into a decent hit on my chart. It doesn't scream big hit just yet, but there is definitely room for that. Apparently he will be listed as Who Is Fancy on iTunes, but I'm going to leave it as Fancy since that is supposed to be his actual artist name.
- Nickelback climbs with "Satellite" this week, hopping 39-30 this week. It's starting to take off, as it has been seeing huge gains the past few weeks. It's turning into my favorite Nickelback love song of all-time, so this should start to see major climbs. It debuted at #13 back in November on its album release date before falling off the Top 20 after its second week, it reappeared in the expansion and hasn't looked back. Next week it will look for another big climb.
- Imagine Dragons take the second debut of the week with "Gold" coming in at #37. This is the first song from Smoke + Mirrors to debut, as "I Bet My Life" has appeared on On the Rise a few times. This track has had a Pokemon journey from me (shoutout to Green Baron). I started off hating this, and called it the worst Imagine Dragons song ever. With each listen, I have enjoyed it more and more and now I love it lol. I like it more than "I Bet My Life". They both have the weird background noises in them, but after awhile you look past that. This will look to climb higher next week.
- Fall Out Boy replaces themselves on the chart this week with "Uma Thurman" debuting at #40 this week. "The Kids Aren't Alright" falls off the chart from #38. This was looking at high debut at the beginning of the period, but cooled off a lot later on. This'll look to climb, but right now, it doesn't have much momentum behind it.
On the Rise: "Truffle Butter" by: Nicki Minaj (feat. Drake & Lil Wayne) "Bang" by: Until the Ribbon Breaks "Kings and Queens" by: Brooke Fraser "Follow Me" by: Hardwell (feat. Jason Derulo) "Hurricane" by: Lifehouse "Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)" by: AWOLNATION "Promises" by: Ryn Weaver "OctaHate" by: Ryn Weaver "Nothing Really Matters" by: Mr. Probz "Calling Out" by: Penguin Prison Re-Entry Watch: None Dropouts: "Bats" by: James Wolpert (from #37) Peak: 20 "The Kids Aren't Alright" by: Fall Out Boy (from #38) Peak: 38 "Romeo" by: Until the Ribbon Breaks (from #40) Peak: 40

Holy expansion! I forgot that had happened. I like it!
"Shut up and dance", "Salt", "Revive" and "Lampshades on fire" looking good! "Talking Body" not doing so hot though :(
Great new entries in "Gold" and "Uma Thurman"
Let's get "Hollow Moon" and "Hurricane" to debut!
