Josh Thompson Wanted Me Gone Show Dog-Universal Add Date TBA Source: Play MPe. This song may be the most radio-friendly track that Josh Thompson has ever released from his two albums. It's fun, fun, fun. On a side note, he looks quite a bit younger and better with the new haircut featured in this single cover.

I haven't listened to the album yet, but I did check this one out and I really enjoy it. Similar storyline to Brad Paisley's "I'm Gonna Miss Her". I like the opening guitar riffs on this one and Josh really sounds at home here. Hopefully this can get him into the top 20 after "Cold Beer..." stalled inside the top 30.

Absolutely love this one. Usually I'm not huge on this much repetition, but man is this catchy. I've had the chorus stuck in my head almost all week. Given that he's on Show Dog, I thought Cold Beer did pretty well, so I really hope this one can break through even higher. Country radio would be well served to play such a definitively country song.

Good God this song gets stuck in your head. I've only heard it twice in the past 4 days, but that's all it took to get that repetition of the chorus playing in loop over and over in my head. I'm pessimistic about almost anythng with Show Dog attached to it's name in terms of chart success now and days but I'm hoping that Josh can find consistent success. Thus far I've only disliked 1 song from him ("Way Out Here"). "Wanted Me Gone" is really catchy. It's so catchy I had to mention it again.
It's catchy ;)

Awful single cover. Besides that, I am glad they aren't giving up on him. I loved the singles from his debut album. It's too bad "Comin' Around" wasn't a bigger hit. I was surprised that "Cold Beer with Your Name on It" out peaked it. The single art -- which the label did -- seems just fine to me. "Comin' Around" was released when Josh was still on Columbia pre-label shake-up. He went to Show Dog-Universal after that label shakeup and in between the two events Columbia stopped promoting Josh's single.

Sorry if I offended you. I stated it was awful because I knew the label made it. You make great single covers. If you made a single cover and I didn't like it, I wouldn't say "awful single cover" or anything like that. I respect your creative abilities. It is awful because it shows how they take Josh Thompson's original look and turn it into "Corporate Country" and make him look like every other country singer out there. I knew he is on a new label now. I figured they would give up on him after one single from this new CD. But I guess they took the efforts to actual release the CD I'm sure they would want some radio success from it. Hope this makes a little more sense. The only difference I see in this single cover is that he cut his hair. That was most likely his own choice, and even if the label had suggested an image change, it's his hair to cut if he so pleases. And if your problems with the single cover aren't related to that, then I honestly have no idea, because the single cover looks pretty run-of-the-mill to me, and quite good imo. Not that it matters, 'cause no one in the general public cares about single artwork, which explains why some labels don't even bother to make them.

Great song. Comin' Around was such a great song too and underrated. I still listen to that song a lot.

I sure hope this is a big hit for Josh. He needs a breakthrough hit. Not sure this will be it. I could see this going top 20 then hopefully he could release A little Memory or Left This Town which could be a top 5 hit. Then for the fourth single they could release another up tempo song like Down For A Getdown or Turn it up. Love this album.

I've tried and tried but I just can't get into this song, others like "A Little Memory" and "Left This Town" I thoroughly enjoy though. I think it's the "wanted me, wanted me, wanted me gone" and the other repetitions like that in the chorus that I can't get passed. Nonetheless, do hope this does well for Josh. More success for guys like him and Easton Corbin now, means more songs like "I Won't Go Crazy" and "Are You With Me?" have a better chance of being released later..and that is something I'm all for.

I just realized this is another Warren Brothers co-write (Josh being the other writer). Seems like they've been hit or miss lately for me. For every "Wanted Me Gone" there's a "Drink To That All Night", and for every "Won't Be Young Forever" there's a "Red Solo Cup". They also wrote "Teenage Daughters" which I didn't enjoy either. But they wrote one of my favorite Tim songs ever ("If You're Reading This"). As for the song itself, it's stuck in that cluster of singles in the 46-52 range (Danielle, John King, Jana, Hunter) with a modest bullet of 20 on MB today. I'm not optimistic about this song's chances and for once I don't think that it being a Show Dog Universal promoted single is the biggest factor. Just too much competition right now and judging by the upcoming add dates, it's not going to get better any time soon.
Another odd thing is The Highway has completely ignored this song. They are playing a new Josh song but it's "Down For A Get Down". Sirius/XM can do that because they are not a monitored station and don't have commercials, so they have the freedom to play whatever they chose, but I find it irritating because this song is far superior than "Down For A Get Down".

SERIOUSLY! Down For a Get Down is a station changer. Oy. This song is so much better. Thus continues my love/hate relationship with the Highway.

I watched the video a couple days ago...seems like it was definitely very low budget (literally nothing happens other than clothes being tossed out a window for 3 minutes while Josh sits in a lawn chair) but I'm not surprised. And hey, at least they did a video...it certainly can't hurt.

That's a pretty simple video, but I love it. Josh's facial expressions are hilarious.

It's amazing that ShowDog Universal seems to advertise this song most every week in Update and/or Aircheck and can't seem to get this remotely close to the Top 40. Though to be fair it is still clinging to life...
I've seen Josh in concert; he was great and the audience was really into him. I hope this guy can pull a Joe Nichols and be successful at another label, because I don't see him succeeding at ShowDog Universal.

I think Josh might be done here (Show-Dog promoted single, the hell you say). It's down over 200k in audience since Monday and has a -65 bullet on today's MB rolling chart. It's lost 38 spins since Sunday morning as well. No adds the past two weeks and being 20 weeks old won't help things either, and if this doesn't re-bullet, it will go recurrent on Billboard come Monday.
