awful callout scores lol. only 4.3% net positive I understand that (in my opinion this is the worst by very very far from all Jason's singles) but it doesn't seem that it matters that much because the song is slaying hard

awful callout scores lol. only 4.3% net positive To build on that, it's easily the least-liked song on the chart, and the most-disliked song on the chart by even farther. Only reason it's not rock bottom on the entire chart is because it came in with so much Familiarity already.

I know people say that the radio-listening audience and digital download consumers are different groups, but it's still interesting that a song can be doing quite well in sales and streaming, yet most of the people surveyed for these callout scores seem to hate it. does that happen often? a decent chunk of people are willing to throw down $1.29 for it, yet people listening to the radio are apparently like "f*** this"?

#Selfie was similar. Probably Gangnam Style as well. I feel like there's another good, recent example that I can't remember.

It's actually not that hard to believe given that what people will buy does not always translate to what they also want to hear on the radio. That works both ways, even - songs will also sell not very well but come back with great callouts.

I don't really read the call out scores all the time. Do they really make a huge impact?

I don't really read the call out scores all the time. Do they really make a huge impact? Barely I would say way more than barely. They're not the final say, but they do impact the chart a lot. It's the reason why songs randomly hit brick walls or start exploding out of nowhere. There are some songs that have killer scores that never catch on and vice versa, but those songs are few and far between.

There's a reason some songs seemingly die overnight. They build up just enough to hit the familiarity required for callouts and then...they hit the wall and their numbers just collapse.

I mean, for example, Katy Perry's "Unconditionally" flying to the top ten and then only peaking at #9 because the scores started coming in and they weren't good. Or on the other hand, "Latch" started blowing up shortly after reaching the top 20 thanks to good call out scores coming in. But, like I said, it's not 100% foolproof. Demi Lovato's "Neon Lights" was a top five hit despite mediocre call out scores, for example.

Can't decide if this is so bad it's good or so bad it's awful.
The you've got a bright future behind you line at the end is shockingly terrible.

Demi Lovato's "Neon Lights" was a top five hit despite mediocre call out scores, for example. "Wiggle" is really strange to me though b/c the callout scores are SO bad, yet it is still gaining. That somewhat makes sense for someone like Katy, who is such a popular artist that radio is going to give her an initial benefit of a doubt regardless. And Demi's scores were just meh, not piss-poor. I have no idea why Jason, who really isn't that much of a pop staple, is seeing such huge gains despite listeners apparently loathing the song so much. The sales are clearly coming from another audience. I personally have not been able to sit through the whole song yet so I don't have much to say about it, which is probably for the best.

I can see why people would get irked by the chorus. (I did at first). However after a few listens I got used to it and now I don't mind it. Maybe radio is noticing how much it's selling and that's why their playing it. Call out scores have initially been bad at first but some of those people who hated it may end up just getting used to it.
