Diplo confirms he did new material with her... www.vibe.com/article/diplo-idolator-interviewI'm not gonna get too excited until we know when the first single comes. She could very easily become unhappy and not release an album.

I need some more Gwen x Diplo in my life. Push and Shove was one of my favorite tracks from 2012 and still gets played regularly by me.

It's not like "Looking Hot" got any more of a push than "Push and Shove" did, though.

I am so tired of Pharrell.
I really liked both of her albums, I hope she can find a way to translate that sound into 2014 without just jumping on new trends.

I feel like going back to her old sound would give the impression that she was jumping on new trends; partly because most of what made them stand out was her work with Pharrell. I want her to stay in the Urban camp, but maybe move on to someone a little more progressive. Chashmere Cat came to mind instantly. Either way, her working with Pharrell should be expected given their history, love it or hate it.
She's no Madonna though. If anything, her sound won't be trendy.

Yeah, I basically meant I hope she finds a contemporary urban-pop sound rather than going EDM. I could actually see Gwen going hord on a Mike Will beat.

It looks like she's working on both a solo and No Doubt record simultaneously according to this.

"Baby Don't Lie" Goes to radio October 6 and adds October 14, according to PlayIGA. (It looks like they just commented it out of display on the page, but it's there. Hopefully I'm not unintentionally spoiling things here. :/)

I'm so ready for this. I loved her past material and I'm sure this will be great too. Also, I'm looking forward to new No Doubt stuff too.

She also was in the studio with Kap G who Pharrell has been helping develop. Also Gavin recently said that she has been working with Pharrell and Benny Blanco extensively on the record.

Cashmere Cat would be interesting. So would Diplo. I think some sessions with Ester Dean and Pharrell together would be very beneficial. Have they ever done anything together?

A fan as heard her lead single and there's some new info as well: Okay! Our good friend Kristen was able to listen to Gwenâs brand new solo single âBaby Donât Lieâ this morning and sent us in a little insight to the âtribalâ sounding song written with OneRebuplicâs Ryan Tedder and Benny Blanco. The song has been sent out to radio with a tentative release date of October 6 but is still being worked out to coincide with The Voice. Kristen describes the song as âtotal top 40âł and features a âdriving beatâ with âcrazy catchy, repetitive vocal lines in the chorusâ. She says it has a âtribalâ feel that features men chanting âoohsâ during the track. Kristen says that the song reminds her of Jeremihâs âDonât Tell Emâ except âBaby Donât Lieâ comes across as âlighter and not urban soundingâ. She canât share much more about the song but can confirm that a holiday solo album release for Gwen is the plan as well as a future release from No Doubt. This is seriously the best news ever and we are so excited and incredibly happy for Gwen and the band! âAll right, yâall, Iâve been trying to think of the most accurate way to describe the song to you. First â ITâS GOOD. You can definitely tell Ryan Tedder wrote it. A lot of the elements you can hear in OneRepublicâs latest single âLove Runs Outâ and Adeleâs âRumor Has Itâ (which he wrote with her) are there â that driving beat in particular; the short, crazy catchy, repetitive vocal lines in the chorus, with men chanting âoohâs after it which all together give it that, âtribalâ feel thatâs been in a trend in pop music lately. The instrumentation in the verses reminds me of that Jeremih, song âDonât Tell âEmâ except Gwenâs song is lighter and not urban sounding, just the best description I can find. Itâs TOTAL Top 40, way more so than Hot AC. Also they are not sure about the 10/6 release date. They need to coordinate with the Voice. Thatâs most of the info I have and all I can share. Looking good for a solo album by the holidays and YES I got confirmation the label knows there is new No Doubt in the works too!! No details about that but I am guessing it will be poppy and everyone seems to be hoping Gwen uses the solo time to draw a line back to the band. There you go!â Source

I'm thinking perhaps the plan is to reintroduce the public to Gwen's image and voice with the solo record, that way radio will be used to having songs with her voice again and possibly open the way for a better reception of No Doubt. Of course if they have as sucky of a promotional strategy for the forthcoming No Doubt as they did for Push & Shove, no amount of setup with Gwen solo stuff is going to help.

If Gwen gets a hit single (or singles) and/or album, I think No Doubt's label (is she on the same label as the band?) will have more faith and give them better promo and whatnot.
