This and "Budapest" are both flaw-free and you will deal.

This and "Budapest" are both flaw-free and you will deal. No thanks. Haven't heard that other song, but here's another flaw with "Stolen Dance" I didn't mention in my last post: the lyrics! "Do the boogie all night long". LOL. LOLOLOL. Yeah, this song has a number of flaws.

'Budapest' is alright. It's rather dull to me. This is great. I love the 90s pop alt throwback vibe it sort of has going on.

I honestly have no idea how the bullet is 300+ for this. The guy's voice, the acoustic guitar, and the beat just sounds really monotonous almost the way through, with the exception of the chorus. It's not horrible, but I find the chorus annoying, because he fails to sing higher notes effectively. The chorus is excellent. And I've thought that since day one - so I can't get with you there. As for the verses, I initially thought they were a bit too low-key to facilitate such a big splash at radio, but they've really grown on me. I also think it's important to spotlight this more relaxed, lick-driven instrumental trend that seems to be blowing up on non-active rock formats right now. Songs like "We Are Done" and "Waves" are absolutely doing it, and if you take a broader look, you can even lump pop songs like "I Will Never Let You Down" and "Cool Kids" into the mix. The Euro vibe and darker, grittier tone then makes this a little more viable for alt than those songs.

I like it, it's 1000x better than the Hozier song anyway.

I think this might be blowing up so massively because it has one of those Clear Channel deals, though I'm not really sure. I've never really heard of those for Alt radio (though didn't Team have one for a little bit so it passed Do I Wanna Know? for a day or two? I've just been hearing "Sponsored by Capital Records" after most of the spins on my local Alt station. (WRFF-Philadelphia)

Although that "sponsored by Capitol Records" thing sounds like something different altogether.

#1 most requested song on Sirius XM's Alt Nation. Top 100 on iTunes based solely on the exposure of Alternative airplay (which is still less than 5 million audience impressions). This is clearly connecting. Does anyone have callout data? I'd expect that to explain the increasing bullet.
This song was destined to be huge and if anything radio has reacted too slowly.

I'm not gonna lie and say I listened to any other Milky Chance songs, and hey, I like this one. That being said, does anyone else just get a North American one-hit wonder vibe from this one? Kinda like Gotye and Alex Clare.

I've listened to a bunch of other songs and I don't think I can see any other one grabbing attention even close to Stolen Dance. I'd easily bet Milky Chance is a one hit wonder in the US. There's a couple songs I've heard that I enjoy but I don't see them being successful.

I know of a band who are better than Ezra. That was the second thing I thought of when I saw that. Why was George Michael first? And for the record, Better Than Ezra is a hell lot better than Ezra.

I don't like this song at all. It has the same beat throughout. That's the reason I had compared it to AVICCI. It could easily be mixed into that Euro Pop Dance style and that's not a good sign.

This is one of those songs, like "Lay Me Down" from The Dirty Heads a few years ago, that its ascent up the charts has been so inexplicably ridiculous that I've been more focused on the whole 'Does it deserve this?' thing, instead of 'Do I like this?', which is still up in the air.
For the record, I now think of "Lay Me Down" as greatness, so get back at me in four years about "Stolen Dance".

Well the industry is talking about Stolen Dance like it's going to be a definite pop force in the fall, so it presumably will be remembered as a far bigger overall hit than Lay Me Down. I do feel that this is nowhere near as good as its ascent suggests (and it's at the point where the On the Verge spins have to be out of the picture, right?). Every time I evaluate this song, I think about it more in terms of "I bet people are really digging this" and not "I really dig this."

I heard this the other day on the radio and loved it throughout. I didn't know who it was and looked it up: Milky Chance "Stolen Dance". Brilliant!

its ascent up the charts has been so inexplicably ridiculous ...but there's no denying that it's an incredibly popular song right now [just look at how disproportionately high it is on iTunes, Spotify, and Shazam charts when compared to its level of US exposure].

It depends who's got releases coming out in Pop. Pop seems to be heading in a europop direction as it appears the whole rap-infused pop phase is burning out.
I'm worried a Bieber alternative song is on the horizon. God help us.

Top 5 on Alternative: 7 4 MILKY CHANCE Stolen Dance 1967 1735 232 7.883
It's got a higher spin increase than "Riptide" right now so let's see if it can get past it for #1

It's next in line if it can hang on until Riptide starts to slow down. I'd really like to see this hit #1, I'm still enjoying it as much as I did in December.
