I'm calling in to request this one. Wow! Dolly rarely disappoints and she certainly didn't this time. This definitely deserves to be a hit! I doubt it will, but I hope it does well for her.

I doubt this charts, unfortunately, but the more I hear this, the more I like it. It's one of my favourite country singles released this year.
I think I'll pick up her album this week. Outside of hits albums and Christmas albums, the only regular studio album of hers I own is Backwoods Barbie.

Blue Smoke sold 37,000 copies last week to land at #2 country and #6 top 200. Congratulations, Dolly Parton!

Blue Smoke sold 37,000 copies last week to land at #2 country and #6 top 200. Congratulations, Dolly Parton! Blue Smoke becomes "her highest charting solo album ever" and those sales represent "her best sales week for a solo project since 1993." Truly impressive.

Just awesome for her! I bought the album and listened to it on my way home tonight. I was pretty impressed! The singles are my favourite songs at the moment, but it like most of the songs. The title track is great, and I actually laughed out loud at the end of "Lover du Jour". Great stuff!

From the mid-week Billboard update:
I thought that last bit (in bold) was interesting. I think it goes to show that there are other platforms out there that artists can turn to in order to increase exposure and boost sales. Obviously something like QVC can't replace radio, but it's still pretty interesting that some non-traditional sellers/platforms can help quite a bit like that. And I think it really shows that not everyone relies on the radio to discover new music, especially when it comes to artists that radio doesn't play anymore.
Sometimes thinking outside the box really works!

I agree completely, and it surprises me that more artists haven't taken advantage of outlets like this. I don't have any source, but I moderated another forum - one for Reba fans - and I vaguely remember her having similar success with QVC. I think she sold around 20,000 copies of Keep On Loving You through QVC, and that helped that album debut at #1 on both the Top Country Albums chart and the Billboard Top 200 chart. If I were working for an artist or label, I would think it's definitely worth checking out.

The video is too cute. I love her, and this SOOO deserves to be a hit. From the mid-week Billboard update: I thought that last bit (in bold) was interesting. Sometimes thinking outside the box really works! I was flipping through channels and came across Dolly's concert a few weeks back. That's how I found out she had new music coming out... I didn't order the album through QVC, I pre-ordered on iTunes. But the QVC special definitely created my sale!

I lost it when Dolly started singing into her comb, lmao. This video is so cute and it works so well! She is just beautiful, inside and out, and the video really captures that. I really liked the use of color on the set and I was particularly fond of her scenes playing the banjo.

Love the video! Simple, cute, and perfect!
I can't even begin to describe the amount of love I have for this song. It's by far my favorite release this whole year (from any genre) and may end up being my favorite by the years end. Although I like to complain about growing up in a tiny little town surrounded by corn, the lyrics to this song just show me the amount of love I do have for this place! It's just so amazing!!!

"Home" zoomed to No. 39 on the UK airplay chart this week (it had ranked 584 or something the prior week). Probably won't last long, but nice to see it get some love somewhere. The UK is good like that- no formats and a place where older acts can actually rank up there with the younger ones.

Is this getting any spins at U.S. radio? In the UK, it advances 39-29 on the airplay chart- only has 239 spins (No. 27 has 1,500-plus, and No. 30 has 1,079), but an audience of 23 million. So it must be getting big support at Radio 1 or some other big outlet- maybe a UK'er can expand on this. :)

It's amazing how Dolly has stayed timeless - I'm not talking about the cosmetic stuff - but her energy and presence. A true American legend. It's really a shame that most don't know the depth of her writing skills - hasn't she published over 3,000 songs or something ridiculous like that?

More than likely, that number has increased!

She's a treasure, really.
Thanks, Erin- figured it was one of the 'Radio" outlets. :) But, I thought the UK doesn't have formats, per se?

No the UK isn't genre base but Radio 1 is aimed at a younger audience, Top 40 songs whereas Radio 2 plays a really big mix and are the only station now, I think, that has a country slot.

Dolly is actually coming over in two weeks and I'm going, should be cracking! She's playing the brand new music arena in Glasgow!

I love 1D, seen them twice and seeing them 2 more times this year. I love UK music...Ed Sheran incredible too. Robbie Williams is great. But I love the way Dolly is respected in the UK and always has been! I have her "Live in London" Video from 1983 and her newest London Live DVD from 2010!

I love the video. At this point, I doubt Dolly even charts at country radio, but I love that she's still trying. Her album sales are very promising, so I think that this new album can be considered a minor success, despite what radio says.
