The iHeart Radio channel is still airing the previous week's show (although this time I have reason to believe the "American Idol" season finale - which is on a Tuesday/Wednesday schedule instead of the normal Wednesday/Thursday schedule due to Tonight being the last night of May sweeps - is the cause for this delay). Let's hope that when this week's show does air there is no goofy silence interfering.

This week's chart is certainly a head-scratcher to say the least. In the bottom reaches, we get not much strong movement, and only one debut (albeit coming in at #32). We reach the 20s, and see one 10-notch dropper and another dropping from 10 to 23, the latter being an unusual move any way you slice it. So too is the sole dropper, from all the way up at #20. Then there's Birthday jumping eight, Fancy jumping nine, and Sing with a strong move into the Top 10.
So despite the quirk of the AI schedule in the works, I'm not completely sure it's affecting the show's chart a great deal. I'll have to compare it to the overall Mediabase to be sure, but for now they don't seem to be behind any further than they would otherwise be.

BTW next season "Idol" will not have a results show (save for finale week) following the example set by "Dancing With The Stars" (although if you ask me, "Idol" has been copying "DWTS" a good bit from two-hour performance shows every week to Seacrest delaying judges' comments until after the commercial break - Tom Bergeron delays the judges' scores on "DWTS" - to now dropping the results show; all that's missing are judges' paddles and Erin Andrews).

This is the third week that "She Ain't You" gets one of the Breakout/On The Verge slots. Since it got purged, Sunday, I think it's about time we gave up on any hope that it might make it.
Wow, that's a lot of extras in the third hour. I guess Ryan really didn't have much to talk about.

There must have been some substantial catchup this week with all the movement, though within the top 10 only "Sing" makes a particularly major move. Interesting that Aviici takes the biggest drop within the countdown and Aloe Blacc an even bigger one (falling right off from #20), but their joint effort "Wake Me Up" hangs on for a 39th week, making it the week's oldest record. Next oldest is "Demons"; either, both, or maybe neither may drop off next week. When "Demons" does it'll be the first AT40 without Imagine Dragons since December 2012; that's about 17 months of chart presence with only three songs.
"Everything Has Changed" could have been a 2 for 1 had they chosen to give Ed Sheeran that distinction, now that he's in the top 10; I think he will be so featured at some point since he has two other previous hits. "When I Was Your Man" gets played one week after being cited as one of three #1's consisting of just voice and piano (the others being "Someone Like You" and of course "All of Me"); Kongos should be on the countdown soon, but probably not New Hollow (though it's possible they might slip in for one week); and I haven't heard "Knock You Down" in seemingly forever.

I never thought I'd hear "Every Little Thing I Do" played on the radio again (at least a drop piece anyway). I still have the cassette single somewhere.
The version they played of "Knock You Down" WITHOUT Kanye is about 100x better. I'll have to see if that one is available on iTunes.

That 1995 hit by Soul For Real was, apparently, the last time that a group of four brothers hit the top 40. Ryan mentioned this while he was introducing Kongos, another group comprised of four brothers.

I really hope that Michael Jackson's new hit with JT will make the chart. If "Love Never Felt So Good" makes it, it'll be MJ's first time on AT40 in 12 years. And it'll probably be the first posthumous hit in years. What was the last hit to make the Top 40 posthumously?

And it'll probably be the first posthumous hit in years. What was the last hit to make the Top 40 posthumously? The last posthumous top 40 hit I can think of was the JXL remix of Elvis's "A Little Less Conversation" from 2002 (spent a single week at #40). If AT40 had used the published Mediabase chart in 2010, then Michael's "Hold My Hand" would have hit the top 40. But, alas, it didn't quite make it, here. Elvis would have been the last as a lead artist. There have been a couple posthumous featured appearances in recent years. The late Soulja Slim was featured on Juvenile's "Slow Motion" in 2004. And Natasja, the vocalist on Enur's "Calabria 2008", was deceased when that song was charting in the U.S..

Ah...you're right. "Miss You" was 2003. I guess that's the most recent.

Last week, I forgot that there's also whispering on Birthday (as well as Problem). Ryan said that there are 7 former #1's charting, but it's actually 8. I think he forgot about Wake Me Up because it preceded Wrecking Ball which is gone. The top 5 has 3 of those former #1's and a future #1. The top 3 has the three J men: Justin, Jason and John. Ryan said that the kids laughed at Sam Smith when he made his goal list years ago, but he's achieved most of them. Kongos rearranges to "OK song" and Dragons to "rad song". Still a lot of old songs more than 20 weeks in the lower half. Ryan still thinks he's counting "down."

While AT40 today doesn't put forth as much past chart data as it did during the Casey and Shadoe years, their Twitter and Facebook feeds note that "All of Me" is the second #1 song with that title. The first was by Louis Armstrong, back in 1932 (as per Joel Whitburn's Pop Memories; Paul Whiteman's Orchestra also hit #1 with the same song that year.) It would be interesting if Ryan were to play a drop piece of that or some other song dating back that far sometime...
