This weekend marks my fifth anniversary here at Pulse Music Board. I have to say I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I have also learned a lot in that time period as well. I must say to all of you that you are definitely passionate about country music, the #1 art form that we all love. It shows on a daily basis in the posts that I read. Because of all of you, my views have changed over the years. If you stop to think about it, that is the way it should be. If we were to play twenty questions back in June, 2009 when I first made my debut here and now in June, 2014 those answers would have certainly changed. Just like all of you, I have carried the country banner all my life. Years ago, I took offense to those who didn't like the music but now I have accepted that country is NOT for everyone. As I said earlier this year, an eight track of Marty Robbins music was one of my earliest memories of country music. I loved him then and I love him now.
As for the Country Forum itself, we have the MOST intelligent posters here. Despite its quirks (as noted by other Pulse posters in other forums), the Country Forum is cited as the #1 place at Pulse for the most intellectual conversations. If I were to put the Country posters up against other forum posters, I know who will win. I personally view the Country Forum as a learning forum and that is the way it should be. People who either post here or not should not be afraid to be here and ask questions. We should be here for each other and others who do not normally post here. While I wish drock89 was more active here, we have the best moderators here at the Country Forum. To say jhomes87 has added a ton here would be an understatement. I have publicly and more important privately told her how much I admire her and her knowledge of country music (for the record, I would love to come to her house and pick her brain on a variety of topics). Everyone should be jealous of the Country Forum for having jhomes87 as our moderator and everyone should be jealous of jhomes87 for moderating the Country Forum.
I really love the posters here at the Country Forum. All of you bring something special to the table and that is yourselves! One thing I would like to address and that it is perfectly acceptable to have different views on things. I would rather see honest disagreements about various issues versus dishonest agreements. You and I do not learn anything if we say yes and go with the flow for the hell of it so we do not upset the apple cart. If you believe that you are the 1% that represents one point of view, please express it. You just might end up being right (you would win my respect for doing so). As the song title suggests, Country Must Be Country Wide, so should our views.
In conclusion, while I have been here for five years, I hope to be here another five years, Lord willing. I love seeing the influx of new posters here and will continue to welcome those here. I also hope to continue my weekly columns. I hope you're enjoying them as much I enjoy presenting them. I learned a lot by doing them. Thank you for letting me be a small part around here. Long live the Country Forum! From your #1 fan here in Western New York!
