Top 50 on Alternative: 53 49 GASLIGHT ANTHEM Get Hurt 154 138 16 0.559 It's up to +34 now. I was hoping that they'd become big enough that hype alone would've quickly sent this into the top 30 at the very least, but apparently not. I know it lacks the energy of most of their other singles, but it's still a strong song that fits in perfectly well with the rest of the chart.

I love Gaslight Anthem as much as anyone, but song and the new album just aren't anywhere as strong as anything they've put out in the past. There's a reason why "45" took off like it did.

Yeah, the new album wasn't that good, but it doesn't matter. It's still a great song, and just because it's not as good as "45" is no excuse for it not to come close to replicating its success.

Agreed. Maybe not peak at #7 like "45" did, but at least let the song go say Top 15. That's the difference between two years ago and now with the chart. If it sticks under the Top 40, I know it's a disappointing song in comparison, but that's just.... not right. Same thing happened to 311 with "Five of Everything."

surprised this isn't doing much, I hear it all the time on my local Alt station. I initially wasn't a fan of this on the first few listens but I think it's growing on me, I'll probably end up liking it in a few weeks (though it might not be on the chart then if it keeps this pace up).

I feel like they'd be better off sending songs to Active since Alt just isn't biting. "Stay Vicious" would do well there.

Was this song sent to Active as well?
And for its Alternative prospects, I think it could still rebound - it's only been in the Top 50 for 26 days now. There are many songs who spend longer in the 41-50 range before finally breaking into the Top 40.

Maybe there's a way of getting May-present? I don;t know though, wikipedia doesn't even track the #1s anymore.

There are many songs who spend longer in the 41-50 range before finally breaking into the Top 40. Hovering around the low-50s. This is complete bullshit. Here we have a song that perfectly fits into today's alternative climate, and yet the format basically says, "fuck you" and flops it. I mean, Radio 104.5 in Philly plays this every single day. I don't know about the rest though. This deserves to go top 10, and if Hozier can do it, so can this. I don't even know anymore - something is messed up here. Can I blame the current indie phase? No, because "45" hit big in the indie phase. The indie phase has been rough on bands that are now dependent on Active and pop-punk bands, but The Gaslight Anthem don't make the type of music that Alternative blackballs. Same thing with the War on Drugs song, ugh...

heh, must just be 104.5 then because I would have thought this was much bigger if I didn't look at the charts regularly. I've heard it there 2-3 times a day for the past two weeks. Probably what made me turn around on the song since I got so many listens of it. A quick check has it at the station (besides Sirius XM) spinning it the most with 29 in the past week, and that's no surprise to me seeing the overall stats. I mean, Radio 104.5 in Philly plays this every single day. I don't know about the rest though. S021-FM >SiriusXM Alternative 32 36 -4 WRFF-FM Philadelphia Alternative 29 26 3 WFUZ-FM Wilkes-Barre Alternative 19 21 -2 WWCD-FM Columbus, OH Alternative 16 15 1 WLKK-FM Buffalo Alternative 13 21 -8 KRXP-FM Colorado Springs Alternative 13 8 5 KBZT-FM San Diego Alternative 12 13 -1 KRBZ-FM Kansas City Alternative 10 17 -7 KUCD-FM Honolulu Alternative 7 10 -3 there are your leaders. not looking too promising.

I think it's very solid overall (though I live near Philly so until recently with looking around online I didn't have a choice for Alt), though my one gripe is I wish they'd stop playing Out Of My League so much. They ignored The Walker entirely and I haven't heard Fools Gold once yet, but they continue to spin OOML ~20 times a week. I like the song but there's only so long you can play a track before it starts to get old. It's almost exclusively what I'll listen to driving around though.

I just wanna give some factual insight into why this song is flopping. www.allaccess.com/mediabase/q/report/leaders/song/GASLGH++/format/R3Then isolate the one "big" station there, which is the Philly one. Those audience figures are absolutely terrible, the listeners don't want this. Even if you look at the Philly numbers, the couple of songs below it with less plays have the same audience figure, and the Twenty One Pilots song with 2 extra spins has significantly higher audience, and the higer ranked songs (with the exception of Riptide) have vastly superior audience per spin numbers as well. Honestly I liked it initially but I got over it so fast, this was incredibly boring. So no, it isn't because this "isn't an indie-pop song."

Audience per spin numbers have to do with what time of day the song is being played (e.g., overnight spins have way lower audience than spins during the afternoon drive). Low audience per spin doesn't mean the audience dislikes the song. Now, if a song has been relegated to overnight play, it could indicate that it tested poorly, but there's no way to know that just from looking at these numbers.

are there any worthy songs on the album It's not a bad album by any means. It's just not as memorable and doesn't stick out as much as the other albums. I personally like "Rollin' and Tumblin'" a lot.
