This. I totally thought this song was going to be about basically the opposite topic that it's actually about when I first saw the title before hearing the song. It bothers me as well that the title doesn't fit the song. I'm curious as to what exactly you mean by this? Because to me that makes no sense for the songwriters to do. I see nothing to gain from that. I never said that they wanted something to gain from that. I mean just think about it. I'm sure it crossed Brett and Scooters minds to title what Bobby said the title should be ("What You Mean To Me"), but thought that a title that has a misleading way about it was interesting. There's nothing to gain there - just attempting to be different. Come to think of it, "Mean To Me" is a more simple title and better title if you ask me. It obviously made sense to the songwriters to name it that since they actually did and the label saw no problems releasing it. Judging how well it has done so far, the confusing title has had little to no impact. I doubt that they did it intentionally to make the title misleading. I fully believe the title of this came from the same 'less is more' mentality that is why Jana Kramer's single went from being "I Still Believe in Love" to just "Love." And as for having an impact on the song, I never expected it to, lol. It just bothers me a little bit when I read it, but the general public is not nearly so invested in a lot of the little things like that that bother Pulse users.

I'm going out on a limb here but if this hits #1, its got about a 99% chance of being the #1 song of the year 2015 on CT40

Sure it has a shot, but there are plenty of other candidates on the chart right now, like A Guy Walks Into A Bar, Lay Low, Like A Cowboy (potentially if it made it to #1), One Hell of an Amen, Say You Do, and some that are yet to even be released. This song simply will have plenty of competition.

I remember reading about it a while back, but does anyone know for certain if Brett plans on releasing a 4th single after this? Or is he planning on going with new material next?

Someone posted on here a while ago (I forget which thread) that Brett was already looking ahead to his 2nd album so yes this will be the final single, which is a shame because I wanted either "Signs" or "One Mississippi" to get released but oh well

He's ready for the next (and bigger) album to come out. I think he revisits a song like "One Mississippi" in the future or just keeps it as a concert staple.

"Mean To Me" has finally cracked the top 5 on MB this week after 30 charted weeks (33 on Billboard).
Hard to believe that "Don't Ya", the first single that got this album era started ("Raymond" was in late 2010 even though it was included on the album), was released in October of 2012. That was two years and 4 months ago. Pretty incredible.

This is easily my favorite of his top 5 hits (and slightly above Raymond) so its nice to see this do well. Hopefully it can be his 3rd consecutive #1 hit.

Slow and steady on the charts is okay with me, as long as they do well in the end. Brett is my favorite new male artist right now. I remember seeing him live in 2012, a year prior to the release of his debut album. There is something about his passion for the music and drive to entertain an audience, that tells me he will be around for awhile.

Thrilled that this one JUMPED Jason Aldean's tune for #3. Great move for Brett, even though the song kind of falls short for me. Such a successful album for him. Could be a sleeper for a breakout artist in the next couple years.

No small feat. I suspect his next album will have a nice debut and provide hit after hit (unless he falls victim to the sophomore slump like label mate Hunter Hayes).

Daryl the Beryl, "Mean to Me" has also been #1 on the Billboard #1 tracker, which is based on building airplay from the current chart week only, available at radioymusica.com, all week. Like I said in the thread for "Just Gettin' Started," this isn't even looking like a close race. Just like "Make Me Wanna" and "Lonely Tonight" collapsed towards the end of their push for a second week at #1, Jason Aldean's song lost half a million audience today on Mediabase, setting him over a million behind Brett Eldredge's song. Three songs in a row now have pushed for a second week at #1 to no avail. This "revolving door" chart model is becoming just a bit tiresome. It's now becoming that labels can't even break the scheme if they try.

I don't expect this to be in the hunt to finish #1 for the year at Mediabase, one reason being that the much heavier airplay which most songs receive these days as opposed to 4+ years ago essentially guarantees that most #1 tunes will easily go from 7,500+ spins to less than 4,000 spins within three weeks, making it very difficult for most charttoppers to receive the massive amounts of recurrent airplay which powered Rodney Atkins and Thompson Square to the top of the MB year-end charts in 2007 and 2011 respectively.
I'm not convinced that Brett will be able to hold off 'Say You Do' or especially 'Raise 'Em Up' from catching him assuming he overtakes Randy Houser & Luke Bryan; he figures to pass Luke early next month.
Passing Randy will be smonths, at easier since many stations which slashed airplay on 'Goodnight Kiss' this week simultaneously boosted recurrent airplay on the just-won't go-away 'Runnin' Outta Moonlight', which continues to very methodically roll along like the Energizer Bunny as the format's steadiest recurrent airplay recipient of the past 18+ months, a scenario which figures to continue next week and beyond.
