I think it's degrading. I never expected this from Usher. I gave it a few listens and I still don't like it.

Up 12-10 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay. His second top 10 hit from this album.

Top 20 on the Hot 100 (#17). What a blessing and a curse!
Usher, this is the part where you drop a video any day now.

I kind of see the label just letting this hit, but won't do anything with it. I believe even though this has become a hit, it won't sell his album. I can see him launching again in the summer or fall. IMO, it makes sense. He just needs to be on the radio, no need to rush an album on a single that doesn't "wow".

He never did anything for Papers and for some reason I feel this is going to be the same. But at least Papers was a lead single/purposeful teaser for an album to come. This is just a small success; amid a sea of false starts I can't see this being the little engine that finally could get the project off the ground. Like Rican said, it isn't the kind of song that would really sell the album (especially if people still have the sense that he was just waiting for an excuse to deliver the same album that he would have delivered in October, given that most people rejected or ignored damn near everything else coming from it) and the odds of him doing something truly creative for the video are nil, since the material begs for the exact opposite of original ideas. He needs to give the impression that he really 'wasn't ready' and went back to record new, hotter material regardless of whether or not that is the actual truth, so I'm completely fine with him ignoring this and saving his energy for a fresh launch later.
I'm still miffed that "Clueless" didn't get its due shine, because that was such a gorgeous song that would have worked for fall/winter IMO, and Usher doesn't really have a straightforward love ballad in his stash of hits.

All I know is that "She Came to Give..." and "Believe Me" should be on the album.

This would be basic for Trey Songz so you can imagine the disappointment that Usher is the one serving this but I still like it. It feels more like a 4th single to me.
I think it's miles better than Believe Me (which was nice but even more bland than this) and She Came To Give It To You (which was just a grating waste of a perfectly good Nicki verse).

Although the songs are far from being their best, I'm glad he and Ne-Yo are seeing some nice gains at pop radio with this and "She Knows." Finally, they don't have to send out a bland EDM song to get airplay at that format. How ironic is it, though, that both of these considerably urban songs, that are starting to break this barrier, are produced by a pop music titan like Dr. Luke? Then again, that was the very criticism that pop radio faced from crossover artists and their fans in the last 2 years or so - that primarily white artists and producers were able to score big hits at top 40 radio with urban/R&B-sounding music, but black artists weren't (ex. "Dark Horse," also produced by Dr. Luke). There were even instances ("Dark Horse," "Fancy," "Royals") where urban radio was playing these songs and artists, yet shafting their core acts. But, anyway, it's good to see the tides turning a bit.

#13 on the Hot 100 again. Even a cheap & fast video could propel this to the top 10, but they don't wanna work for it!

Mark Pitts said the album still isn't finished You mean the "reworked" album. He has an album finished, but his label told him to go back in, I bet.

Someone that went to the ATL show of the URX tour mentioned that he filmed the video during the show. So, it's gonna be a live/concert video. Well it WAS gonna be, seems like they've scrapped the idea. If not I don't know what they're waiting on.

Thanks to panel differences I wouldn't be surprised if "Truffle Butter" ends up missing out on #1 on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop (like "No Type", "Try Me", etc.) but it does stand a chance at hitting #1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay since its audience impressions seem to be higher right now. I like both songs, however. Hope they can both make top 10 on the Hot 100 at least.

And a new peak of 11 on the hot 100 - probably where it will top out as overall airplay and sales are now falling. As much as i still dislike this song, I hate #11 peaks even more, so now I join allow that in wishing he would have made a video or performed this somewhere, even just once. Did he ever even release that live vid that was mentioned a while back?

Sorry Cynthia :( I'm just made that stale ass "Blank Space" of all songs is what prevented it from extending Usher's span of top 10 hits (I'm sure he'll be back at some point though).
