I think it'll rise on Alt. This has to be in the top 10 year end 2015.

Album isn't all that good. Avalanche for single #2?

Oh, really? I like it a lot. "Work This Body" is my favorite right now (beside this) so I'll be rooting for that, "Avalanche," or "Portugal." Maybe "Up 2 U" (another standout but maybe not quite as radio-friendly). My only real hope for the era is that this does what "Anna Sun" didn't: cross over and hit at HAC and pop. Sales have been solid even after the Single of the Week promotion, which keeps me hopeful.

It just feels too overproduced and more "artificial" compared to the debut. Middle section doesn't do much for me. "Up 2 U" would be fine if it wasn't for that cringeworthy scream. I don't think "Anna Sun" ever stood a chance on Pop or HAC - it was five minutes long, and a radio edit would ruin it, also it just didn't seem like a Pop hit to me.

(http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/65295/Walk-the-Moon-Talking-is-Hard/ - here, Kurt, I just finished writing this) Well-written review, though I don't agree with it entirely. I don't get a "samey" vibe from the album - while I agree that "Down In The Dumps" and "We Are The Kids" are sort of filler/fluff tracks, even those vary pretty well from the rest. (I also like both of your "annoyances:" the scream in "Up 2 U" is kinda fun and I love the hook in "Sidekick," which reminds me of Graceland.) Maybe I'm finding more variation in the intervals and key changes (some favorites: the key change in "Aquaman," the different, but both bouncing melodies in the verses of "Portugal" and "Work This Body" - plus the French lines in the latter, haha, and the big intervals in the chorus of "Avalanche"). Also, I just checked my library and there was a radio edit of "Anna Sun" - 3:43 in length, cuts out some of the quiet space in the intro and a lot of the fading outro, and layers a bit of the bridge section; worked fairly well, I thought.

I think it's overall a good album. Most of the songs are similar to me. Nothing spectacular, but it about met my expectations compared to the first album. I'd probably choose "Different Colors" as the one song that I'd definitely want as a single. I think "Up 2 U" is my favorite song on the album, but don't see it so much as single material. There's a good amount of choices overall that I think could do decently.

I like the album, but I was hoping to like it more considering how great this is. All I really want to see as a single is "Avalanche", as my other two favorites ("Aquaman" & "Up 2 U") aren't really radio friendly. My guess is they'll go 3 singles deep and release "Different Colors" and "Avalanche".

If there's amy song that deserves to be a huge Pop crossover, it's this one.

The Power of Failing It has crossed over to mainstream Pop. At least it has on Bill Board Hot 100. That alone is a miracle, when you realize half the stuff on that list is either country or offensive rap. I hope the best for it on any chart, but when I view that Hot 100 compillation on youtube; it sounds so out of place surrounded by those country and rap songs. It kinda makes me laugh

This is definitely one of the freshest sounding songs on the Alt charts. Would love to see this takeover #1 spot from CTE.

I have to say, definitely did not expect this to hit #1 when it first came out. Still is a great song though.

extraordinary promotion job getting this quite pop leaning single to #1 alternative. There are so many variables to a song reaching #1. Imagine Dragons, with all the excitement of it being a new single from the band with perhaps the biggest alt debut album this decade, could not get there. Neither could Arctic Monkeys recent single, despite them having the #1 alt song of 2014 and phenomenal indie credibility. To reach #1 you of course need a hit song that connects. But equally important is having a great promotion team that can navigate the charts.

This is one of my favorite #1 Alt songs in quite some time. It's up there with "Come A Little Closer", "Pumped Up Kicks", and "Radioactive" for me (and others). Not much else to say other than this song was written extremely well and it's immensely catchy.
