DROPPER: Shakira - Empire (from #39, 8 weeks on)
- If by chance iHeart Radio airs the U.S. version and continues to skip the opening segment of Hour #2, it contains songs #30 - 27 (including the one extra) - For the third straight week, Iggy Azalea makes up the Top Two this week but unlike the printed Mediabase chart corresponding to this week (when the two songs flip-flopped), "Fancy" gets an extra week at #1 while "Problem" stalls at #2 - For AT40's three in-show extras, two of them were last week's droppers. - Unusual to have the "Two-For-One" segment in Hour #3 rather than the Final hour.

I do like the choice of "Green Light" as the Two For One, all things considered. And yeah based on the overall glacial chart movement, save for the 8-point jump for "Maps" which still places it a few notches behind, this is definitely a "falling behind" week. Also, isn't this the fourth or fifth week in a row at #37 for AJR?

Only 1 debut this week? Ugh, "Boom Clap" should have debuted this week.

Just like last year, the second week of July has a rather slow chart (wonder if this will also be followed by one with a lot of movement?) This week last year was the fourth, and last, week at #1 for "Can't Hold Us", which, like "Fancy"'s fourth week, arguably wasn't justified by Mediabase. Some say that Selena Gomez was shafted out of a #1 ("Come and Get It"); I don't think the same will happen to Ariana Grande.
And they (Neon Trees and 5 Seconds of Summer) were both in the higher 20s two weeks ago before falling straight off. A different choice of MB chart last week and they might only be dropping out now (or even still on?)
Eleven extras is a lot, but they at least aren't all bunched up together. Most are pretty recent (8 of the 11 either haven't yet charted or did so in the last year), but I haven't heard "Green Light" or "Mr. Saxobeat" in a while.

Yeah, looks like the chart has fallen about a week behind. It seems to, always, happen around this time of year. "Maps" moved a lot over a very short span of time, so the anomaly of it's large jump certainly gives the "illusion" that something happened this week. Frankly, I'm surprised that the chart stayed as fresh as it did during the fill-in weeks. That's when you'd, typically, expect things to get a little wonky. Hopefully, the lag will be short-lived and not drag out/compound over several weeks like we saw last year.

I guess whoever updates the show on iHeartRadio is on vacation. Sigh! Still no new show as of Thursday afternoon.

Once again, I missed last week's show because of no Internet, and 103.5 KISS-FM is so petty for starting the show at 6AM -_-. I wish there was a download link so I can hear Jennifer Lopez do the countdown. But I'm sure I will hear this week's show, even though it's a tad behind.

I don't understand why AT40 doesn't have their show streaming from their website. That way if somebody works or can't hear it on the radio, anybody could listen to it whenever on their website.

The new show is on the iHeartRadio channel as of midnight EDT Thursday night. It's the U.S. version minus the first three optional extras. And surprise! They actually played Hour 2, Segment 1 at 1 a.m. They will likely switch to the international version at noon.

Folks at the "at40staff" email address say the show will update on iHeartRadio on Fridays from now on.

But the trend has been that they play the U.S. version, minus the first three optional extras, three times from midnight to noon EDT the first day. After that, it's the international version. They say they play the international version because it doesn't have commercials.

At the top of the show, Ryan mentioned that this month was the 44th anniversary of AT40. Then when introducing #1, he played a drop of Casey recapping the history of AT40 from his final broadcast on AT10/AT20 (right before playing "Love Story"/"Second Chance").
After playing "Fancy," Ryan said that Iggy Azalea was the first woman in the history of AT40 to replace herself at #1. I believe Mariah Carey came the closest in 1995 (which would've been Casey's Top 40) when there was a one-week gap between "Fantasy" and "One Sweet Day" being at #1.

When do you guys think "Rather Be" will debut? If not next week, likely the week after, assuming this period of lagging behind doesn't continue. A catch-up week could lead to the song by-passing Breakout Land and going straight into the countdown, but I'm thinking the odds are good that the song will at least get played next week, whether as Breakout or as debut. Twice, in fact! The second time being 2005 when DHT's remake of "Listen to Your Heart" spent a week between "We Belong Together" and "Shake it Off".

I haven't heard this week's show yet, but if the chart above is right then "Fancy" is still at #1. Did "Problem" hit #1 in the broadcast version, or is he giving away next week's #1?

What Ryan said was that she's the first female artist to hold down #1 and #2 at the same time, in AT 40 history.
