Interesting way to sample "Tom's Diner" This is pretty good. I'm gonna put it on the back burner for now, I'm actually just getting into "Young Volcanoes". There were so many great songs on "Save Rock N Roll" it was hard to keep up.

It would be nice if this flopped. So now you DONT want an established band to succeed due to their name? Pick a damn position already

So now you DONT want an established band to succeed due to their name? Pick a damn position already Well their name has always been s**t so yeah Take This To Your Grave & From Under The Cork Tree from start to finish are two really solid Alternative-leaning pop punk albums everyone should listen to and appreciate. The opinion you stated above is one of someone who discovered FOB by hearing Dance Dance followed by the Infinity On High singles, and therefore think FOB is a boyband who are not in any way whatsoever alternative or alt rock. How do I know this? Because Fall Out Boy's peak popularity was during my high school years. They received the same level of uneducated hate as Nickelback.

I know they're pop punk (lol boyband) but they were never good pop-punk. On their last album they dropped all punk and they carry that trend with this single.

But as for last album, what choice did they have? That genre is commercially dead and even their fans from their peak period have moved onto liking the more indie and modern alternative trendy stuff, so they had to change it up. Most of the older FOB fans I know were satisfied with "Save Rock and Roll", myself included.

This x 100. Those two albums by far are my favorite by them. Once they gained success due to their singles, their remaining albums went into a more poppy direction.

Absolutely, however I do still really enjoy "Infinity On High" and some of "Folie A Deux" is at least decent. So many circumstantial similarities between Fall Out Boy and Nickelback in that regard though. They each had a completely unknown debut album (Curb & FOB's Evening Out With Your Girlfriend), and a moderately successful sophomore release that was completely true to their roots and are cited by their oldest fans as their best ever material (The State & Take This To Your Grave). Then their 3rd albums became more mainstream, yet still incorporated the majority of their original sound, not knowing how commercially successful it would eventually get (Silver Side Up & From Under the Cork Tree). Then they latched onto a much more mainstream sound from there.

I wish Fall Out Boy would return to their pop-punk style (although it would have a higher chance of flopping these days). "From Under a Cork Tree" was an enjoyable album to listen to back in high school. This new song isn't bad, but it just continues on in their poppier, more electro style, and is a bit more underwhelming than "MSKWYDITD".

Like when New Found Glory made "Tip of the Iceberg." I love the band, but I just couldn't enjoy it the same way as their other albums.

They're probably Canadian Yes, but unlike every other band we talk about they're criminally underrated. Probably one of our most diverse rock bands too. They've done everything from powerpop to shoegazing to hard rock.

I remember liking every Sloan single I would hear all the way through "Who Taught You To Live Like That", then they got super boring and I haven't appreciated anything from them since...and that's like 8 years. EDIT: I guess "Believe In Me" is ok, but it's still pretty average.

Here's one of the better ones off their last album. This is decent, but I made the mistake of listening to "Money City Maniacs" literally right before it, so naturally I unfairly compared it to that.

I actually really liked "Unkind". But "Keep Swinging (Downtown)" is just meh.
