They should release "La La La" after this.

They should release "La La La" after this. If you mean the Naughty Boy song, that was his first song sent to U.S. pop radio, and his first charting single in the US, so.... you're about 7 months too late. :kii:

i was thinking the same. I think it's in the album (like Latch), he was very active in his collaborations (he has writting credits) but he was a featured artist. I remember being compared with Bruno Mars who was featured in two hits before launching his solo career, but in Sam's case it was more a question of timing. The curious thing is a lot of people doubted Stay with me would succeed, and Latch was probably one of the biggest surpise hits in recent years. La la la was very very big on uk and europe, and even if it was a hit (top 20 on billboard hot 100, top 10 on pop airplay) it didn't translate the megasuccess overseas.
To be honest i don't know which it'll be his next single. The album is full of good songs but he should go with something different for the third single (a ballad would be ok for fourth).
By the way this is 8 at itunes right now. It'll go top 20 on the billboard hot 100 next week, maybe top 15

I think I like this more than Stay With Me. It's a lot more emotional and soulful, and I'm hoping this smashes so "Not in That Way" can be single #3.

It entered at 41 in the Urban AC chart, not a surprise because Stay with me is slaying on that chart, it's having the chart run that i expected for the AC chart (i'm still surprised that Rude and Am i wrong are doing better than SWM on that chart) with a spins peak higher than Happy or All of me. It was a long run to the top but now is really dominating that chart. Hopefully I'm not the only can get a similar chart run

They should re-release it or put out "Restart". Didn't it do quite well? Why re-release? I say Restart wholeheartedly. La la la peaked at 19 at billboard hot 100 and 10 at pop. It's not some obscure relase that was unnoticed before his career exploded, it was part of that explosion. It was a big hit in europe and UK that became a medium hit in the USA. Apart of that it's a Naughty boy song, yes he was an active part of the process but he is the featured artist, so i think he will be more interested in pushing his solo songs right now. Anyway, I'm not the only one just started its chart run, so he has plenty of time to chose the next single. Maybe we'll know it when he release a new one on Uk

Maybe we'll know it when he release a new one on Uk I think Restart may be the new one. The video came out for it a week or two ago. I doubt it. Leave your lover had a video long time ago (in fact it's his best video), it went number one on itunes in the USA, but never was released as single. He could release anything, even he can go to a rerelease of the album with new songs (he left out of the album some gorgeous songs of the EP). He can use the award season to choose the new single. Anyway, if nothing went wrong it should be the grammys the awards that really benefit him, and by then probably I'm not the only one will be on its way down of the charts, so probably the perfect time for a new single

I find curious how every week he is higher in the official UK chart than in midweeks. I thought this will be the first week the album will be outside the top 5 (it was 7 in the midweek update) but it ended at 3, and the same for the singles.
And it seems this year will end with a young male domination in the albums chart, with Ed Sheeran, Sam and George Ezra in the top 3 bestsellers of the year (if Christmas sales doesn't change that, of course)

Top 20 on the billboard hot 100 and top 10 in Canada.
He is going to perform at the AMAs it should be enough to make this another top 10 hit

I feel they should try give "Money On My Mind" a push again, to have a more up tempo song

I feel they should try give "Money On My Mind" a push again, to have a more up tempo song I don't think they even give Money on my mind a real push. It was the single in UK (number one) but in the USA they seemed to plan Stay with me from the beginning, or at least they decided when the song did so well after the tv performance. Anyway, they have a lot of time to think about it, because this is still starting its run

I'm not really sold on the potential of Money On My Mind in the US, I think most would find the vocals to be too shrill and annoying. When they tried to push Kiesza's Hideaway here, that was the big complaint against it.
I do agree that a more uptempo single should follow this, especially since he seems to be set on not being boxed in, but the best bet is probably Like I Can.

Money on my mind is weird at first but it's a grower. But you are right, it's a risky choice. He needs an uptempo as follow up (the fourth single tempo is not that important but he needs a change for the third) but of course there's no need to be Money on my mind. He played safe for the album (which is understable), but he needs a change of path that will help him a lot in the long run (in every sense, because if he offers all the time what he knows people like, he will limit himself a lot in terms of creativity).
Maybe Uk next single give us a clue

Money on My Mind is very annoying with his vocals for me... IDK, I love the ballads, but I think he should release at least a mid-tempo.

I think Restart would be the best choice for next single. It's upbeat enough and has a hard throwback 90s vibe to it that could be welcome but with Sam Smith, I think he's on the verge of being the closest we have to a radio darling as a newcomer right now.

Is "Restart" an itunes bonus track or something because I don't see it on his CD that I own?

Yeah Restart is a bonus track on the deluxe version. My favorite track from the project is Reminds Me Of You, which was unfortunately relegated to being a Target bonus track .

Is "Restart" an itunes bonus track or something because I don't see it on his CD that I own? I'm not sure. It's track 11 on the physical copy of his album that I have. I think it would be my second choice for his next single, after "Money On My Mind".

I think Restart would be the best choice for next single. It's upbeat enough and has a hard throwback 90s vibe to it that could be welcome but with Sam Smith, I think he's on the verge of being the closest we have to a radio darling as a newcomer right now. I remember a journalist making an analysis of the top 50 billboard hot 100 some months ago and he described Sam as the most clear unavoidable successful artist since Mariah Carey, which is curious because at least at first he is almost the opposite of what you expect of a male pop star. But in some sense it's true. He work hard to have success in the USA, he do a lot of promo, but compare him with any other british artist breaking in the USA (Ed Sheeran is the perfect comparision because he is young and talented too) and the truth is he had to do a lot less work to have the job done. A tv performance and he had enough buzz to break into top 50 without heavy aditional promo. I'm not the only one and Leave your lover reach itunes number one as promo songs when Stay with me wasn't even a hit song yet (yes, that's something a bunch of artist do, but they are established big stars no newcomers). Ed Sheeran has more or less the same status right now (with the advantage that he proved the he is here to stay with his second album, a successful second album is always a big achievement), but he had to work really hard to make the same impact, touring from colleges, doing interviews to AAA radio stations, what he got with that hard work was basically what Sam got with his first tv performance. That's the reason i think any single he release now we'll get an oportunity in radio, but that doesn't mean he can chose anything, he needs to be smart and chose a single that pave the path for future songs.

I think Like I Can is his next single. He just said so on Twitter. Yup, he put it on all his social media outlets. On Instagram he clarifies it as the next UK single so if they push it stateside, it won't be until the new year most likely after this is done.

I can see Like i can doing its job, it's very different from the previous singles, and less risky than Money on my mind.
