I don't know about which stations aren't on board, but the ones around here in NC are playing the hell out of this! I hear it all the time!

Shame about radio...I assume there will be a third single, but there were once plans for a new album in the fall. I have a feeling they're following the Ariana game plan of a short, yet successful first era which is then quickly followed by the "superstar" album.

I have a feeling they're following the Ariana game plan of a short, yet successful first era which is then quickly followed by the "superstar" album. I just assumed "Numb" with Angel Haze would be third, but that's an even more interesting game plan. They're investing soooo much in Nick and despite radio's lukewarm reception of "Chains," it feels like it's worked for the most part. This era has raised his profile and changed his image in a major way so I have no doubt his next era will go big.

The plan is interesting if worked. With Ariana worked but frankly it was less risky because she really had no other hit than The way in her first album. If the plan worked there won't be any complains but if not they will miss an oportunity to carry an album that really has more hits in it (sometimes albums won't start to sell well after several hits) So it's risky, anyway, he is in a good moment, he made a good work with the promo, he put himself in the map and distance himself to the purity ring image he had. He even has a successful tv show, so there's no reason to think the second album won't be a hit

I mean "Chains" is hardly a smash that will stand the test of time as of now. Are there really more hits though? "Numb" seems like it could hit if promo and timing align, but otherwise I don't remember hearing any. I do think his upcoming single with Sage the Gemini can hit and hold as a nice placeholder though. Yeah, his management definitely deserves a gold star for this era. Everyone knows who he is now (honestly before "Jealous" I couldn't distinguish which Jonas was who). Not only has he successfully transformed into an adult star, but he did so in a way that sits well with the public. His buzz is always there but for some reason (the material?) there's still a disconnect with radio.

Well Chains right now is near top 10 on pop and on the hot 100, i think it's doing a great job and avoid completely the one hit wonder syndrome (as i say Ariana only had The way, and the song was not a hit of the size of Jealous). And Chains has another advantage, the sound is completely different from Jealous. What it will pass the test of time it's impossible to know. Everybody hurts barely was top 30 on the hot 100 and it's considered a classic into REMs discography, there are a lot of number ones that are forgotten the day the leave the charts.
He did a great job in putting himself in the map. I read tons of critics about him using his body and looking for gay fans. Using his body is another way to show he is an adult and not a kid anymore, and he (and i think it was a wise decision) didn't use his body in the videos because in my opinion that would distract from the music and he should establish himself as musician first (a different thing is the videos itself, because apart of the first Chain's video, the other two are something to improve from now on). Looking for gay audiences it was smart, first of all no male straight artist do that (probably with the exception of Enrique Iglesias, and Enrique is the first example of why it's good to have a gay fanbase), they simply look for teen girst and expect gay fans come in the lot. Apart of the obvious advantages of create a diverse fanbase, what he did was distance himself again from the previous image, and given that his character in the show is gay he has the perfect excuse (not that he needed one). And frankly i don't know why there were so many people suspicious of that move when there are a lot of female singers doing the same and nobody question their motivations.

I do think his upcoming single with Sage the Gemini can hit and hold as a nice placeholder though. Yeah, I'm 99.9% sure that "Numb" will be the next single and I still think it's definitely possible that "Teacher" will be released after that as the 4th and final single. I could see it being a good way to close the era out. 4 singles is a decent number for an album with 11 tracks on it, especially if the rumor that he's already working on a new album is true. I agree that his song with Sage the Gemini could be a good placeholder between the last single from Nick Jonas and the first single from his next album. As far as other songs on the album that could work as singles, it's hard for me to say because I think the album is pretty amazing and there are other songs that are definitely good enough to get released, but they might not be what radio would want. I think further releases will depend on where "Chains" peaks and how the next single or two performs.

Some of these comments make Nick sound like a radio reject. A #1 from the first single and the 2nd fixing to smash into the top 10. "Shame about radio" "Radio not that excited" Please...I'm sure there are plenty of artists who would love to be "rejected" by radio like that! Poor Nick...he better give Joe and Kevin a call...

Poor Nick...he better give Joe and Kevin a call... Let's not be overdramatic. Nick's sales and media presence are stronger than radio's interest beyond "Jealous." Not one person has said "poor Nick!" or called him a failure. In fact, we've all been saying this has been a very successful era for him. But it's absolutely 100% true that radio's treatment of "Chains" is lukewarm and hence lacks enthusiasm considering its heavy promo, the song's sales, and coming as a follow-up to a #1 hit.

His label has done a great job of promoting him because after the "Nick Jonas grew up hype" died down radio could have dropped him like a rock. I think it's great that "Chains" at least hit the Top 12 (so far) and that it didn't fly up the charts just due on the hype of "Jealous" and then Crash like a lot of 2nd singles do after a hyped up 1st single. Personally I didn't even initially like "Chains" all that much. It definitely took me a few listens to get into it.

Solid second single from the album. I like it, though Jealous was much catchier IMO.
However, whoever he has advising him on videos for these songs should be fired. I mean, the video for Chains is better than Jealous, but still not as great as it could be for this type of song. I know nowadays videos are super important, but having a disconnected or poor video hurts.

It started to recover just in time to take profit of TOL going down. SUAD is getting nearer but maybe Chains will be able to hit the top 10 before being passed

If he keeps the good updates it has a chance to be in the top 10 by the end of the week (next week now that he recovered the good updates is for sure no matter if SUAD will pass this)
