The highlight of that was the epic Joe Jonas intro. Great TV moment even though it was probably such a humbling experience for him. Remember when he was the star of the group?

This does seem to have had a lot of performances. It seems like more for "Chains" than with "Jealous".

It's working cause this song is taking off. Not so long ago it was considered in peril by some. I'm not ready to predict #1 but top 5 for sure. I believe he's performing this on the Billboards too!

I'm happy this is doing well but how could this go from weeks of slooooow (and sometimes negative) updates to +300 updates all of a sudden. And we KNOW how much money they're throwing behind Nick due tot he aforementioned non-stop performances. So it's a little suspicious. I'm cool with it though.

Well it's doing very well sales wise so maybe radio took notice and increased it's spins??? Maybe they thought he was going to be a 1 hit wonder comeback kid but realized people are into him and his music.

If this were country radio, I'd definitely be inclined to join you in your suspicions, but with pop, payola starts to lose its affect once a song reaches the top 20. I wouldn't be surprised to hear of some sort of push behind this, but I don't think it's anything too out of the ordinary or too big with money. I think it's mostly just the fact that it hung around for such a long time in airplay and sales and kind of "proved itself" worthy of a better spot on many playlists. The performances probably have something to do with it.

The negative updates had zero sense, the song was even in the top 10 on itunes that week. Frankly, i don't think there's nothing that suspicious, this song has a higher peak on the hot 100 than Waves, Prayer in C or Blame, all of them went way further on the pop chart than Chains is right now, and he had a previous number one

All of those songs you mention appeal to our large cosmopolitan markets like NYC, LA, and Miami and very little to places like Tulsa or Omaha, so it's really comparing apples to oranges. And it's not suspicious that "Chains" is becoming a big top 10 hit. It's suspicious that it hadn't for so long and is VERY suddenly receiving obscenely large overnight updates.

I repeat what was weird for me were the previous updates not this ones And Calvin Harris is not a new name or an international crossover, and we have several Demi Lovato hits that overperformed on pop radio. I understand what you say, the change on the updates don't have a proper motivation, there's no new reason for give this more airplay that there were not before, but there's another way to see this, the recent updates are more natural to the success of the song (and being the follow up to a big hit) that the old one. I don't think this will end being number one anyway

I really love this song, which is surprising to me because I did not like the Jonas Brothers at all and I hated Jealous.

There's nothing suspicious about this. Cumulus stations tend to upgrade songs to power rotation en masse, so we have 30 pop stations simultaneously increasing +35 spins this week. Cumulus does this all the time (similar to how Cumulus add songs en masse as a "block"), so it looks normal to me.
I'm just happy that Cumulus finally dropped old songs like "Sugar" and "Uptown Funk" from power rotation. Someone had to backfill those power rotation slots, and it makes sense that Cumulus chose "Chains" to replace "Sugar" in the power rotation slot this week.
