I think you'd really like it. It's much better than LFL, which sounds like her last 3 singles. :O

Did "I Bet My Life" completely go unnoticed in the Top 20?

Mark G.'s Top 20 - March 26th, 2015 "Uptown Funk!" ties the official record for the most weeks at #1 as it holds at the summit for a 15th cumulative week. It is now just one frame at #1 away from setting a new record for the most weeks at #1! Also, with a 25th week at #1 over 4 songs, Bruno Mars passes Pharrell Willams for the most cumulative weeks at #1 among all acts (of course Eminem would've gotten way more - almost twice as many as Bruno - if 2010 had counted). This is a really intense moment in the history of my chart...will the song give Bruno another record next week??? We shall find out... With a 6.9% increase to 264k points this week, the song posts a record-extending 4th week of over 250k points and a record-extending 13th week above 200k points (will this record ever be broken? It is always majorly contingent on how much I listen to music in a given week - how busy I am and how much time and opportunity I have for it, hence why on the weeks December 25th, 2014 and January 1st, 2015 "Uptown Funk!" got less than 150k points each week, despite how obsessed I was with it at the time and the fact that it was #1). The song also has the THREE highest weekly point totals since I started doing points 66 weeks ago. "Happy" got 256k points exactly one year ago this week (March 27th, 2014)!
Maroon 5's "Sugar" climbs one spot to a new peak of #2 after being stuck at #3 for 4 consecutive weeks. This song is vying to become the group's record 6th #1 officially on my chart. The song increases by 21% to 217k points.
This week marks the very first week that THREE songs get 200k+ points - "Earned It" by The Weeknd jumps 5-3 in its 5th week on the chart with a 96% increase in points. The song passes Ariana Grande's "Love Me Harder", on which The Weeknd is featured, becoming The Weeknd's highest peaking song to date. Will this be the song to prevent "Uptown Funk!" from breaking that record? "Earned It" tops R&B Songs for a 5th consecutive week. It is the first song of his to top the genre chart for multiple weeks.
Flo Rida's "GDFR" featuring Sage The Gemini & Lookas re-enters the chart at #4 with 196k points (the most ever for a song at #4) after spending one week on the chart at #20 5 weeks earlier. This is a tie for the highest ever re-entry on my chart. "Outside" by Calvin Harris featuring Ellie Goulding (12-15 this week, topping Dance/Electronic Songs for an 11th week) also re-entered the chart at #4 the week of January 15th, having previously spent a week on the chart three weeks earlier. The song returns to the summit of Hip-Hop/Rap Songs (recently in effect after having been discontinued due to lack of rap songs charting or close to charting, and no I do not categorize "Time Of Our Lives as hip-hop/rap) for a 2nd cumulative week, dethroning Drake's "Energy" which topped the chart for 4 consecutive weeks.
Ellie Goulding's "Love Me Like You Do" slips 4-5 this week but with a 12.4% increase to 163k points (the most ever for a song at #5), having peaked at #2 for 2 weeks. Still praying that this somehow pulls a "Lights" and ends up resurging up to #1 in a few weeks, but I wouldn't count on it :'( it really deserved that #1 and was sooooo close...
Pitbull's "Time Of Our Lives" featuring Ne-Yo falls 2-6 this week. Since I didn't comment on this last week (as I didn't do the commentary at all), I should do so now. The song is the fifth song of Pitbull's and third of Ne-Yo's to reach the top 2. Pitbull previously reached #1 with "Give Me Everything", "Back In Time" and "Timber" and Ne-Yo previously reached #1 on the aforementioned "Give Me Everything" and #2 with "Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself)". He also debuted at #20 last week with "She Knows", featuring Juicy J. That song falls out of the chart this week.
"Shut Up And Dance" by Walk The Moon slips 6-7 but tops Folk/Alternative Songs for a 4th consecutive week. Taylor Swift's "Style" likewise falls one spot 7-8 this week.
"Somebody" by Natalie La Rose featuring Jeremih is this week's hot shot debut, entering the chart at #9. It is the first entry for Natalie and the third for Jeremih. He previously reached #4 with "Don't Tell 'Em" in November 2014 and #1 with "Down On Me" in March 2011. This is the first of his songs to debut in the top 10.
Ariana Grande's "One Last Time" falls 8-10 in its 4th week on the chart. Could this song already be done so soon? :(
"Truffle Butter" by Nicki Minaj featuring Drake and Lil' Wayne debuts at #12 on my chart this week. This is her first chart entry since "Pills N' Potions" in June 2014 (it was a slow week and 3k points was enough for it to be #19 that week). It is her highest-charting song since Va Va Voom reached #8 New Year's Eve week 2012-2013. I think this is Lil' Wayne's first appearance since "Love Me" in early March 2013, more than two years ago! (He has been absent for some time)
Jason Derulo's new single starts at #13 this week and will likely be in the top 10 next week. This song is looking really fresh and has been stuck in my head a lot! Maybe it can do what "Talk Dirty" came really close to doing, that is, becoming Jason's first #1 on my chart officially?
Tove Lo's "Talking Body" (pun not intended) re-enters the chart at a new peak of #14. She previously reached #2 with "Habits (Stay High)" nearly 5 months ago. Still upset at that bad timing - it should've been a #1. :'(
One last noteworthy thing to mention is that Vance Joy's "Riptide" falls off the chart from #9 and this is the highest drop off the chart since "Young Girls" by Bruno Mars fell out from #7 the week of March 13th, 2014 - more than a year ago! Given the massive success of "Uptown Funk!", however, I doubt Bruno would complain about it at this point

Most weeks at #1:
"Stronger" - Kanye West (20 weeks)
"Love The Way You Lie" - Eminem ft. Rihanna (15 weeks) "Thrift Shop" - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft. Wanz (15 weeks) "Uptown Funk!" - Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars (15 weeks)
"Forever" - Drake ft. Kanye West, Lil' Wayne & Eminem (14 weeks) "Dead And Gone" - T.I. Ft. Justin Timberlake (12 weeks)
"Happy" - Pharrell Williams (12 weeks)
"I Gotta Feeling" - Black Eyed Peas (10 weeks) "Payphone" - Maroon 5 (10 weeks)
"Imma Be" - Black Eyed Peas (9 weeks)
"Dangerous" - Kardinal Offishall ft. Akon" (8 weeks) "Gangnam Style" - PSY (8 weeks) "Blurred Lines" - Robin Thicke ft. T.I. & Pharrell (8 weeks)
"Heartless" - Kanye West (7 weeks) "Lighters" - Bad Meets Evil ft. Bruno Mars (7 weeks) "The Monster" - Eminem ft. Rihanna (7 weeks)
Many of these could've gotten some/a lot more if not for the tough competition during their time. Also "Am I Wrong" by Nico & Vinz and "Wake Me Up!" by Avicii could've each had 8-10 weeks easily.
Honorable mention for "Knock You Down" by Keri Hilson ft. Ne-Yo and Kanye West which got 5 or 6 weeks at #1 but would've had at least twice as many if not for "I Gotta Feeling"

Go UF just go higher! EI is a classical song with The weekend's pure sound :) No idea about GDFR :| Somebody is normal for me it doesn't have anything special Seems like TOL has not ended in you yet! No idea about TB either :/ WTWM is a normal song too...won't reach anywhere in hot 100 unlike TD! What a fresh nice chart ;)

Bear with me - since I'm new here, I'm gonna have a lot of questions ;) but I figure people generally love talking about/explaining their personal charts. "Uptown Funk": LOL, I'm definitely not at all surprised to see this smashing (and setting records) here! You're not one to hide your personal feelings (positive or negative) about songs in the Hot 100 threads ;) What's with all those songs in your most-weeks-at-No. 1 list getting crossed off/not counting? Did you start a new chart era when you started using the point system? "Sugar": I didn't realize that you're such a big fan of this one, but I'm glad to see it! I have a hunch that you'll let UF get at least 16 weeks on top, but does "Sugar" have a chance of rising to No. 1 after that? Also - it looks like M5 are the act with the most No. 1's in the history of your chart? Which songs made it? They've only amassed 3 No. 1's on my chart (which started in late-'09): "Payphone", "Maps", and "New Love." "Earned It": I like (but don't LOVE) this one, and it'll be pretty interesting if it manages to unseat UF on the Hot 100 after Ed, M5, Ellie, and Rihanna couldn't do the job. (Well...I know there's still a glimmer of hope for M5 with their upcoming Voice performance, but I don't want to get my hopes up.) In my ideal Hot 100 world, they all would've spent some time at No. 1. #turnover4life "G.D.F.R.": With all of your trash talking about "Trap Queen", I'm surprised to see that this has clicked with you in such a big way! I know they're not identical songs, but I was getting the impression that you're easily off-put by hip-hop jams. "Style": Were "Shake It Off" and "Blank Space" much bigger hits here, like on the Hot 100? Well...probably not BS, since I remember you talking smack about it when it was slaying up a storm on the Hot 100. I love all 3 songs, but "Style" is probably my favorite (with BS a very close second.) "Want To Want Me": I'm really into this one lately, so I'd love to see it become a "Talk Dirty"-sized global smash (and his first-ever No. 1 here, of course!) "Talking Body": Nice to see this inside your Top 20. If only it was doing this well on the Hot 100 too - but I'm thankful that she at least has another solo Top 40 to her name now. I like pretty much everything that you're charting, so I could go on 5ever...but I'll stop myself now.

I like pretty much everything that you're charting, so I could go on 5ever...but I'll stop myself now. The songs crossed off that list are the unofficial ones i officially started my chart the week of December 30th, 2010 so the run at #1 of all songs before is kinda just guesswork (probably pretty accurate but still not official) so yeah the ones before 2011 aren't official chart runs it has nothing to do with the point system which i actually started 3 years after i started my chart and it was mostly for year-end chart purposes (before that I just used the inverse point system for year-end, quarterly and monthly charts). Maroon 5 previously reached #1 with "Moves Like Jagger", "Payphone", "One More Night", "Maps" and "Animals" (so far) :) I do enjoy some hip-hop songs actually (in fact, in 2011 and 2012 they were quite dominant on my chart lol many of my #1's were hip-hop songs! I guess with the "Anaconda"/"No Flex Zone"/"My Hitta"/"23" era I have lost some interest though I listened to a bit more of "Trap Queen" and I guess I was quite harsh on it lol. I still wouldn't really say that I like it, but the song doesn't really bug me that much anymore. In fact I actually find it kinda catchy but yeah I really liked GDFR a lot this week, it is soooo catchy to me lol. I'm not really sure how much longevity it will have for me though "Shake It Off" was certainly a much bigger hit here lol (it spent 2 weeks at #1, 20 weeks in the top 10 and 27 weeks total on the chart) and "Blank Space" probably was too lol (it spent 5 weeks at a peak of #3, which would've been 7 if not for Sam Smith's "I'm Not The Only One", 12 weeks in the top 10 and 16 weeks on the chart in total; it could've still been here as I still listen to it sometimes as a recurrent but it dropped out because of tough competition). "Blank Space" could've (and should've) been a #1 at the time because I really liked it at the time but it had bad timing. :( What happened was it was gaining fast and jumped to #3 as "Animals" and "Blame" were still in the top 2 and just as it was about to overtake them "Uptown Funk!" and "Take Me To Church" started dominating the top 2 for many weeks. Needless to say at that point I could see that "Blank Space" was not going to get any higher. Shame, I liked the song a lot at the time. But yeah "Style" is a very different kind of song from Taylor and I really like this style (pun not intended lol) so in a sense I appreciate it more than "Blank Space" :) I'm sure "Want To Want Me" and "Talking Body" will both smash on the Hot 100 and my chart as well! :) Thanks for your comment! I really appreciate you taking the time! :) And I appreciate you asking for those clarifications because I really want people to know/understand my chart statistics but at the same time I have lately gotten soooo lazy to include them in the articles every time lol :/

First off: many thanks for the thorough reply to all my questions and comments! :)
I use an inverse point system for my year-end countdown too. Why'd you change over to the point system that you use now? How does this current system work/how do songs earn points each week?
With all this Taytalk, I can't help but ask: how many No. 1 hits does she have? Or is SIO her only one so far? She's racked up an impressive 15 chart-toppers on mine (the most of any act), but turnover is really fast and album tracks are allowed to chart as well.

She's racked up an impressive 15 chart-toppers on mine (the most of any act), but turnover is really fast and album tracks are allowed to chart as well. Not a problem! I always want to clear up loose ends :) I decided that the current point system is a much more accurate representation of my top songs for both the year-end and weekly charts lol. With the old system, I would just pick the order songs that I felt were my top 20 and this would sometimes cause me to forget about a song that I listened to earlier in the tracking week and it would not make my chart even though it should have :( I definitely don't regret making this switch as now my chart is probably more accurate Im actually glad you asked about Taylor lol I was going to say! Yes unfortunately she has not had a #1 other than SIO but all her big hits since 2012 (I really didn't like her before that lol) have reached my top 3! WANEGBT, IKYWT, SIO, BS and Style all made it to my top 3. Out Of The Woods made my chart for a couple of weeks but it was kinda a placeholder for one of those weeks and it didn't get enough mainstream exposure for me to listen to it more and for it to chart higher lol. IKYWT was soooooo close to being #1 on my chart :( it peaked at #2 in January 2013 and was blocked by "Thrift Shop", which I was madly obsessed with at the time lol. I can definitely see Taylor getting another #1 on my chart in the future though! :) SIO is definitely my favorite song from her! So irresistibly catchy!

"Earned It" VS "Uptown Funk": Well, I'll be! UF ended up missing out on claiming the record all for itself - but, based on the very close point totals between these two, I imagine that a rebound isn't out of the question? "Sugar", however, seems to have definitely missed its chance to ever be No. 1 here.
"Want To Want Me" = Top 5 = Awesome!
"Take Me To Church": Woah, quite the random rebound for this one. Any particular reason?
RIP "Ghost" ~

Any particular reason? RIP "Ghost" ~ You're absolutely right, Uptown Funk rebounding is most certainly NOT out of the question ;) Yeah it seems like Sugar is starting to burn out on me and would be the rare big M5 hit not to make it (they had 5 #1's since 2011)...weird considering how I'm a big fan of Adam and the crew! I guess it could end up pulling a Lights and resurging after falling to #7 (kinda hoping for that to happen with Ellie's other song that currently is charting, at #7 in fact) Not really any particular reason, just listened to it more this week and the other songs somehow seemed to fall below it yeah Ghost did not have good longevity for me, probably because I started listening to it rather late and it started burning out everywhere :( hopefully won't be the case with her next single... thanks for commenting again! I was gonna tag you after I finished my commentary (I still will, and hopefully you at least skim through it ) I will try to do that tonight!

Mark G.'s Top 20 - April 9th, 2015 With a 16th week at #1, "Uptown Funk!" after all breaks the record for the most weeks at #1 officially. I didn't think it would do it, but it ended up doing it after all. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's "Thrift Shop" ft. Wanz no longer holds the record for the most weeks at #1. UF also breaks the record it set itself for the highest weekly point total with a 30% increase to 269k points (that could have been even higher if I didn't sulk on the last day of the tracking week, Wednesday). It also boasts a record 58% lead over the next-highest song. How about that? Three records set in a single week. Amazing. Surely this song will go down as one of my top songs of the decade, if not THE top song of the decade. Of course, it is still 15 weeks short of matching "Thrift Shop"'s 34 weeks in the top 10, but it could end up happening...don't believe me, just watch! It tallies a record-extending 5th week above 250k points and a record-extending 15th week above 200k. I cannot imagine this not being #1 on my 2015 year-end chart, but then again anything could happen unexpectedly (as evident by SYA on the Hot 100 :'( more on the debut of SYA on my chart later). It is also the first song to be #1 while in the three longest chart sitters and the time. "Thrift Shop" was tied for the third-longest with "I Knew You Were Trouble" in the latter's last week at #1 (that was also, in fact, IKYWT's last week on the chart). Bruno adds a record-extending 27th week at #1 to his artist total.
Walk The Moon's "Shut Up And Dance" jumps 6-2 with a 45% surge to 170k points in its 9th week on the chart. Although "Uptown Funk!" holds a 58% lead over "Shut Up And Dance" this week, the former seems to be on the continuous decline now while the latter has been gaining on me a lot lately. Could SUAD be the next #1 and the one to at long last dethrone UF after the latter's record-long lengthy reign? I guess we will find out. SUAD tops Folk/Alternative Songs for a sixth consecutive week.
The Weeknd's "Earned It (Fifty Shades Of Grey)" (why does the official title insist on having the name of the movie in it?) falls 1-3 with a 22% slide in points after becoming The Weeknd's first #1 on my chart. He previously reached #4 on Ariana Grande's "Love Me Harder" in December 2014 and #8 as a featured act on Drake's "Crew Love" in early August 2012. The song tops R&B Songs for a seventh consecutive week.
Flo Rida's "GDFR" featuring Sage The Gemini & The Lookas returns to its #4 peak with exactly double the points it got last week. It spends a fourth week atop Hip-Hop/Rap Songs. this is Flo Rida's fifth top five since 2011 following "Good Feeling" (debuted at #1 and stayed there for four weeks!!!), "Wild Ones", "Whistle" and "I Cry".
"Love Me Like You Do" by Ellie Goulding rebounds back into the top five 7-5 gaining by 13%. Although it was very deserving of the number one, it had the unfortunate fate of having poor timing and being blocked by the much overall much bigger song (though it was very close to being #1 both weeks). At this point it looks very unlikely for it to pull a "Lights" resurge and make that #1 after all, since it is losing momentum on the Hot 100 which was what (in part) fueled the resurgence of "Lights" in August 2012. Sorry Ellie, I still love you! :( <3
"Sugar" by Maroon 5 falls out of the top five 3-6. Could this be the end of what was about to be the record 6th #1 for the band? Is it seemingly over like Ellie's song? Or is there still hope?
"Talking Body" by Tove Lo surges 15-7 in its 5th week on the chart, becoming her second top ten on my chart. She previously reached #2 with "Habits (Stay High)" (another example of bad timing - it surged to its peak the same week that "Blame" debuted at #1).
Drake's "Know Yourself" jumps 19-11 in its second week. This is Drake's highest-peaking song since "Hold On, We're Going Home" (?) reached #3 in October 2013 - a year and a half ago!
Looks like we are seeing some more of the Hip-Hop/Rap Songs on here now! Fetty Wap's "Trap Queen" debuts at #12 while Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again" tribute featuring Charlie Puth debuts at #13. These are the first chart entries for Fetty and Charlie, respectively. It is the 6th (?) entry for Wiz Khalifa and 5th as a lead artist (although the one as a featured artist was his biggest one). He was #1 with "Black And Yellow" and as a featured act on Maroon 5's "Payphone", while "Young, Wild & Free" and "Roll Up" reached the top 10. "No Sleep" debuted/peaked at #12.
Calvin Harris's "Pray To God" featuring HAIM re-enters the chart at #17, having debuted/peaked at #15 in March. The song is right behind Calvin Harris's other song "Outside", featuring Ellie Goulding, which tops Dance/Electronic Songs for yet a 13th week - the longest reign since Avicii's "Wake Me Up" wrapped up a 24-week non-consecutive run at #1 more than a year ago and the 5th-longest since I started the chart in 2011.
Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" falls out after 13 weeks on the chart but that's not enough for it to go recurrent and it will surely re-enter this coming week.

sorry that I am a week late, guys. I'll post the most recent one tomorrow hopefully. And also, these long runs at #1 are not normal (only 4 songs, including UF, have been #1 for 10+ weeks since I started the chart in December 2010) so I am sorry if this chart has gotten boring due to UF's very lengthy stay at the top lol. It's just about over so don't worry, very soon we will be back to much quicker turnover, for the most part.

"Uptown Funk": Ah, so after a 1-week interruption/hiccup, UF is back to slaying up a storm! Interesting how it mirrors what you hope/expect to happen on the Hot 100 (except with EI instead of SYA) ;) Speaking of SYA, glad to see that you're actually pretty into it, despite it potentially interrupting (or ending) UF's run on Billboard.
"Shut Up And Dance": Great to see this moving up into your Top 2! Hopefully it can hang on until UF loses steam and spend some time at No. 1.
"Talking Body": Lovin' the big jump for this one!
"Want To Want Me": Ouch, didn't expect to see this take such a tumble already, especially when you'd been expressing some excitement over it cracking the Top 10 on iTunes.
"Trap Queen": Ha, guess you really have been warming up to this one!

I keep forgetting you can bookmark lol :$ I like to finish the commentary before people see the chart but at the same time I'm too lazy anyway, yep UF did return to #1 and break my record after all. I believe you're not a big fan of long-running #1's on charts so I apologize for that but I am very much into UF so I can't help it lol :$ and yeah that is definitely preventing me from being able to enjoy SYA more :( I also have a bit of a crush on Meghan Trainor so seeing Charlie Puth about to kiss her in that other video also contributes to the way I feel about him lol :'( it is a really nice song though... as for Jason I do still like the song a lot! Just not as much as I did the previous week lol. It will probably go back up though as it gets that radio play definitely not over yet for the song! yeah TQ did grow on me after all but at this point I don't expect it to stay on my chart much longer lol. I definitely don't mind the song though now.

No need to apologize about UF - your chart, your rules, your style! You kind of hinted last week that it would rebound, so this doesn't come as a total surprise. Record-setting achievements are definitely exciting. Whew, glad to hear that about WTWM! :)

Mark G.'s Top 20 - April 16th, 2015 Sorry for for being so late again this week :(
"Uptown Funk!" leads for yet a record-extending 17th week and also passes "Thrift Shop" for the most ever weeks in the top 2 (20). This also gives him his record-extending 27th week at #1 - the most among all artists since the official start of the chart! It posts a record-extending 16th week of at least 200k points (the most any other song has done since the point system was 5!).
However, this is looking like it may be quite possibly not just its last week of over 200k points, but even its last at #1, as "Shut Up And Dance" is gaining quickly right behind it; the lead of "Uptown Funk!" over "Shut Up And Dance", which was 58% last week, shrinks to a mere 9.2% this week. It seems as though Walk The Moon is ready to claim their first #1! But will they follow through with it? Find out next week... The song spends a 7th consecutive week atop Folk/Alternative Songs. The Weeknd's "Earned It" holds at #3 after reaching #1 two weeks ago, becoming the CanCon's first #1 on my chart. The song rules R&B Songs for an 8th consecutive week.
Maroon 5's "Sugar" rebounds 6-4 in its 12th week on the chart. False alarm - it looks to me like it is done now (expect it to fall to at least #7 this coming week). It'll spend a few more weeks in the top ten and then make its way out. Top 20 year-end is still very realistic though, with top 10 being a small possibility.
"Somebody" by Natalie La Rose featuring Jeremih rebounds 8-5. I don't know how well this one will hold up...it seems like it may have only had that initial buzz of its first 1.5 weeks.
Despite falling 4-6 on the overall chart, Flo Rida's "GDFR" featuring Sage The Gemini & Lookas tops Hip-Hop/Rap Songs for a 5th week.
Wiz Khalifa scores his 5th top 10 as "See You Again" featuring Charlie Puth climbs 13-10. He previously reigned with "Black And Yellow" in late 2010/early 2011 and as a featured act on Maroon 5's "Payphone" in May-August 2012 (the latter led for an impressive 10 weeks, the 4th longest reign among all songs since the official December 2010 launch of the chart!). This is the first top 10 for Charlie.
Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" returns to the chart at #11 after unexpectedly falling out last week. As it is regaining on me again, expect this song to be in the top ten next week, maybe even top five!
"Pray To God" by Calvin Harris featuring HAIM inches up 17-16 and takes over the Dance/Electronic Songs chart. This means that Calvin is the first artist to replace himself atop a genre chart twice with three different songs (he also has the most leaders on the genre chart - five in total)! Expect "Pray To God" to have a big jump next week...
Tori Kelly lands her first chart entry with "Nobody Love", which debuts at #17 this week. I really hope it can be a future smash...
