Lady Antebellum is re-releasing their #1 country smash, "Compass", with added vocals from Jessie J. The new version was registered on ASCAP just recently. My guess is this is for a Pop release. At least it's not a country rap remix lol.

Regarding that ASCAP listing, that doesn't necessarily indicate a re-release; it could just be Jessie covering it. Either way, that sounds like an awful idea. No thanks.

It says under 'Performers', Jessie J & Lady Antebellum, so that's why I was thinking maybe a re-release. I could see it being pushed at Pop since it was written by StarGate and a few other pop writers. At least it doesn't feature 2 Chainz lol.

I figure it's only a matter of time before 2 Chainz enters the fold of pop-remixed, rap-added country hits. ASCAP doesn't differentiate between covers and features - they all get listed under the Artists section, which is confusing but makes sense considering the song is still the same and the same publishing companies get royalties. For example, Kanye West's "Heartless" includes The Fray, Kris Allen, and Kidz Bop Kids (lmao) as Artists, all of whom have covered it separately from the original.

Lady Antebellum have completely abandoned that project already, and are onto the next one. I doubt they would go back to release this with someone whose status doesn't guarantee the song any additional exposure and success. I hope, for the sake of the band, that she's just covering the song and nothing more.
