This song could crossover to Alt just on shear fact that it follows closely melodies reminding the listeners of Killers' "Somebody Told Me". With it's infectuous chorus and backup 80s style vocals; I'm surprised it isnt doing better on Active, since this is the sound Active is mostly embracing this year.

Sweet. I can actually see this doing decently on Alt for an Active song. I'm going to guess a mid 20s peak. ETA: 2000th post.

I actually disagree with this. I've been critical of "Ballast" as well as of the opinion that it shoulda charted on alternative, and I personally don't find anything about that song to be in any way "alternative", while both this song AND "Bones" are both good old alternative rock tracks. I don't think "Bones" was ever sent for alternative adds, and if it was then it was probably at the same time as it went for active adds as oppose to later on when it took its sweet time become a big active hit. I think this has a far better shot at charting on alternative than "Ballast" ever did, and if this goes top 10 then I can certainly see a top 40 appearance on alternative in the cards for "I Want Out". "Good old alternative track" is exactly what Alternative hates right now. The fact that Nothing More sounds more of the new generation of artists like Bring Me The Horizon, A Day To Remember, Of Mice & Men, Periphery, etc. is what would give it a better shot at Alternative. Young Guns is the epitome of what the Pitchfork crowd sticks up their noses at. Nothing More is heavier, but also far more relevant/current. Young Guns sound like they would have been huge 10 years ago. "I Want Out" makes them sound older, but in a way that's more trendy right now, I agree. I think if they wanted to push to alternative, they honestly should have gone there with this song out of the gate. Active rock success just stigmatizes them further as a post-grunge dinosaur band that alternative has no interest in. I'd argue Young Guns' sound is a tad more contemporary (Active-rock wise) than you're suggesting here. They're part of the interesting swath of new, anthemic, melodic hard rocks acts coming out of the UK in the last few years. They have far more in common with the likes of You Me At Six and Lonely The Brave than bands associated commonly with "post-grunge" like Godsmack or Theory of a Deadman. At least to my ears. But I absolutely agree that Nothing More sounds more "modern", and I completely think Alt blew it with largely ignoring "Ballast". I'm thrilled "I Want Out" is going to get it's well deserved push at Alt, which I felt this deserved upon first listen. Hopefully programmers give it a shot. Glad this has finally reached the Top 20 on Active, and getting more spins with each week. The deliberate climb of this (and Asking Alexandria's "Moving On") towards the upper part of the chart has been nice to see...especially with the big names log-jamming the Top 15 right now.

This is just as, if not more Alt-friendly than Bush's new song and that's in the top 20. So hopefully that means something.

I like it, but I don't. It's really poppy. There's some odd transitions and the mixing seems a little off. It might be a grower though. I'm still into "I Want Out", so I might just pass over this one (I got into IWO pretty late though).

It's a bit poppy in the sense that it's extremely melodic for Active Rock songs nowadays, but it's Rock, non the less. I love it. Maybe Alt charts can even finally pick up one Young Guns song?

Either that or a last minute reflex before it fizzles out?

So the album is available for pre-order for $6.99!! Out June 9th. Tracklisting: 1. "Rising Up" 2. "I Want Out" 3. "Infinity" 4. "Memento Mori" 5. "Lullaby" 6. "Daylight" 7. "Speaking in Tongues" 8. "Colour Blind" 9. "Gravity" 10. "Die On Time" 11. "Ones and Zeroes" 12. "I Want Out" (Single Version)
There are two versions of this song. The version we all know, the single version, and then the album version. The album version is so much more tailored to Active, why didn't they push that version!? It has louder drums and harder riffs, but it's a little more demo-y. I think that version would have fared better on Active than the single version did (RIP :().

This song recently was sampled during a college basketball cut from commercial Saturday on CBS. I'm glad this band was too active rock that CHR kept their hands off of it.

Still on Billboard Top 20. Wonder why mediabase pulled it's plug?
