It's going to be GREAT for her to get NATIONAL airtime for once. I can't recall her ever having the national airtime with her newer sound. I've already set my TiVo.

MARTINA MCBRIDE CELEBRATES THE JOY OF CHRISTMAS
Posted on Monday, July 17, 2006[/i] Holiday Extravaganza Returns in 2006 with 16-City TourNashville, TN (July 17, 2006) - In a one-of-a-kind show "guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit"(Champaign, IL News-Gazette), mega-platinum artist and four-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Martina McBride is once again preparing to dazzle fans with her glorious soprano. The critically lauded Christmas spectacular The Joy of Christmas, now in its fourth year, kicks off a 16-city tour in Chicago Nov. 24 and runs through Dec. 22. The Joy of Christmas, sponsored in part by CMT, is a two-hour multimedia event with elaborate sets, impressive special effects, and a talented cast of actors that complement McBride's powerful voice. The groundbreaking production features 18 seasonal classics, many of which can be found on her platinum-selling White Christmas album, caroling with the children and audience sing-alongs. As executive producer Bud Schaetzle explains, "One minute you're in a quaint village underneath a Christmas tree; the next minute you're in Bethlehem crossing the desert, and the next, you have a World War II, Bob Hope/Bing Crosby vibe. The centerpiece, of course, is McBride and her music." Critics have raved about McBride's Joy of Christmas tour and sellout shows were the norm. As CMT News noted, "It takes a singer of McBride's power and presence to stand out against such commanding visuals, and she does so with aplomb." In Martina's words, "Christmas is such a wonderful time, and I wanted to create a memorable holiday experience for the entire family. By developing a show that incorporates elements of theater, video, special effects and audience interaction, we'll be able to take the audience through every aspect of the Christmas season in a magical, inspiring way." New stops on the holiday tour include Cleveland, OH (Dec. 2), Cedar Rapids, IA (Dec. 9), Worcester, MA (Dec. 17), Portland, ME (Dec. 19), Manchester, NH (Dec. 20), Washington, D.C. (Dec. 21) and Uniondale, NY (Dec. 22). McBride has been wowing audiences and critics alike since she burst on the country scene in the early '90s. Over the last decade, she has sold over 16 million albums, garnered 20 top 10 hits including nine #1s and received numerous awards. Washington, July 19(ANI): Rocker Jon Bon Jovi plans to surprise fans by moving into country music by recording an album in Nashville, Tennessee. The 44-year-old singer and his bandmate Richie Sambora are expected to record the disc with veteran country musicians. "The change is in the music - it's time for change. 'Keep The Faith' was why we stayed relevant in the '90s. In 2000, we changed again when we did 'It's My Life'. That's when a new generation discovered us," Contactmusic quoted him as telling the New York Post. "We didn't plan any of that, it just happened. I can smell change coming again. I'm thinking of a Nashville sessions record. I'd like to knock out a quick record with a few country writers and artists and me and Richie. I'd like to get two or three artists to do duets with. I'd like to give a couple of Nashville songwriters a chance to shine, and Richie and I would write a few songs to prove we could hold our own with these guys," he added. The singer made history by becoming the first rock band to top the US country chart earlier this year with his award-winning duet with Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles, "Who Says You Can't Go Home." in.news.yahoo.com/060719/139/65zq3.html

Recently selling over 1.1 million DVDs, HEE HAW remains a hit with viewers worldwide.

The "Hee Haw" television series debuted on CBS on June 15, 1969 and ran weekly for more than 20 years. I hope CMT holds onto "Hee Haw" and re-runs it regularly like it does "Dukes of Hazzard". Some of the stuff they air on CMT these days makes me wonder why they still call it COUNTRY Music Television!

Australia's global superstar, Keith Urban has announced plans to return to the recording studio to complete his new album which will be released later this year.
Urban’s current album Be Here, has reached double platinum in Australia and as Urban did with Be Here, he’ll once again be co-producing the album with musician and producer Dann Huff.
“We started recording the album earlier this year and after a short break away from it, which involved a low key trip to Australia, I feel very much like a new man,” said Urban. “It’s great to be back to finish it up.”
The album is as of yet untitled, but its first single looks set to hit radio sometime next month.
In addition, a worldwide promotional tour is being planned to coincide with the release of the album although details are still being finalised.
Fans are invited to check out musichead.com.au or keithurban.net for the latest up to date and accurate news and information.
Additional details of the new album's progress and touring news will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

^ This is the first I heard of these rumors, but anyone can see it wouldn't make sense for an artist to schedule elective cosmetic surgery right in the middle of the summer tour season, and postpone shows to do so. Those 'devotees', whoever they are, need to think first.

I was just trying to make the point that, contrary to what the article says, us "devotees" in her fan club haven't been questioning her surgery.

“The 40th Annual CMA Awards” Airs Live Nov. 6 on the ABC Television Network
The announcement of the final nominees for the 2006 CMA Awards will be carried live Monday, Aug. 30, on network and cable television from New York City during “Good Morning America” on the ABC Television Network, and from the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville on a special edition of CMT’s “CMT Insider.”

For the first time, the final nominees in select categories will be announced live on national television during “Good Morning America” with Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland and five-time CMA Awards winner Brad Paisley from the “Good Morning America” studios located in the heart of New York City’s Times Square Wednesday, Aug. 30 during the 8:30 AM/ET half-hour of the morning news program.
Broadcasting live from Nashville, CMT’s Katie Cook and Lance Smith will present exclusive coverage of the remaining 2006 CMA Awards nominee announcements in a special half-hour edition of “CMT Insider,” premiering Wednesday, Aug. 30 (10:00 AM/ET; 9:00 AM/CT) on CMT. Following the nominations, Cook and Smith will interview nominees and take a look back at 40 years of CMA Awards telecasts.
In addition to the nominee announcements, Aldean and Little Big Town will announce the finalists for the 2006 CMA Broadcast Personality and Radio Station of the Year in four categories (small, medium, large and major markets) as well as the finalists for the CMA National Broadcast Personality of the Year.

The venue will open at 8:00 AM/CT for invited media and members of the music industry to watch the televised announcements on “Good Morning America.”
The CMA Awards nominees and winners are determined by the 6,000 industry professional members of CMA, which was the first trade organization formed to promote an individual genre of music in 1958. The first “CMA Awards Banquet and Show” was held in 1967. The following year, the CMA Awards were broadcast on NBC television for the first time – making it the longest running, annual music awards program on network television. The show aired on NBC through 1971 and on the CBS Television Network from 1972 through 2005.
