From CMT.com[/url] Actress Heather Locklear will play the love interest in Toby Keith's new music video, "Crash Here Tonight," which they filmed in Los Angeles on Monday (August 7). The song is also included on the soundtrack of Keith's upcoming movie, Broken Bridges, scheduled for a Sept. 8 theatrical release. "Those kinds of things make videos like this special, if you can get somebody like that to jump on board and come in and be your co-star," Keith told CMT Radio.
Carrie Underwood will perform on ABC's Good Morning America in New York City on Friday (Aug. 11) as part of the show's summer concert series in Bryant Park. While in Manhattan, she will also tape a performance for The Early Show to air Aug. 16 on CBS. In addition, Underwood is featured in this week's issue of TV Guide. Currently on tour, her next concert is scheduled for Wednesday (Aug. 9) in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Jim Brickman Returns With "ESCAPE" New Recording Features Sara Evans, Gerald Levert, Marc Antoine and More; Chart-Topping Pianist Readies Release for October 3rd; Five-Month North American Tour Begins November 3rd SANTA MONICA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 08, 2006 -- SLG Records, a division of the Savoy Label Group, is proud to announce the imminent release of platinum-selling artist Jim Brickman's new CD, "Escape."
The pianist/producer/composer has recently finished an album of all new solo piano and pop vocal compositions -- "Escape" -- which features special appearances by Sara Evans (the Academy of Country Music's "Female Vocalist of the Year" for 2006), R&B vocal star Gerald Levert and smooth jazz guitarist extraordinaire Marc Antoine. In addition, Brickman will embark on a five-month tour of North America beginning November 3rd. Jim Brickman's "Escape" is in stores October 3rd.
Brickman's first collaboration with SLG Records is a fine return to form for the chart-topping, multi-platinum artist. "Escape" is a lush, unabashed work of romanticism, both in the instrumental compositions and vocal ballads -- a niche that he almost single-handedly dominates. Like his numerous gold and platinum-selling projects, "Escape" features an enchanting collection of gorgeous piano compositions, romantic piano and vocal ballads and rhythmic light jazz selections. Gerald Levert (who attended the same high school in Cleveland with Jim) adds his effortlessly fluid vocals on the beautiful lullaby, "My Angel" -- it's a collaboration that reaches beyond musical genres and fits seamlessly into Brickman's repertoire. Other guest artists include jazz guitarist extraordinaire Marc Antoine, Jake Simpson (a fantastic singer who won "Star Search" and made a heartwarming appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show with a surprise appearance by his idol, Stevie Wonder), and Geoff Byrd, an incredible vocal talent who has been touring the past few months with Hall and Oates.
The singles being released to Adult Contemporary radio will be the evocative "When It Snows" featuring Geoff Byrd and "Never Alone" featuring Sara Evans on vocals with lyrics and music by Victoria Shaw. Both were produced by Dan Shea, the musical genius responsible for Brickman's chart-topping singles, "Valentine" and "The Gift."
Much like the Brickman/Martina McBride song "Valentine" (Jim's first #1 single on both the Adult Contemporary and Country charts), "Never Alone" matches that impeccable styling, unforgettable melodies and lyrical beauty.
Jim Brickman's remarkable career includes six Gold and Platinum selling albums, three #1 and twelve Top 10 Adult Contemporary radio hits, consistent debuts at #1 on Billboard Magazine's New Age chart, a Grammy nomination in 2003, SESAC "Songwriter of the Year" award, a Canadian Country Music Award for "Best Vocal/Instrumental Collaboration," a Dove Award presented by the Gospel Music Association for "The Gift" and sold out concert tours internationally.
The SLG relationship reunites Jim Brickman with Savoy Label Group's Steve Vining, who presided over Windham Hill Records when Jim first began his impressive run of blockbuster releases. The charismatic performer quickly became known as a fresh and vibrant recording and concert artist who created and performed enormously moving solo piano compositions as well as established himself as an Adult Contemporary radio iconoclast. Brickman also regularly handles TV hosting chores and presents most of his own concerts worldwide. He also finds time to run his own online marketing company, Brickhouse, which provides virtual and physical marketing services for a broad array of artists and management companies.
The Savoy Label Group (SLG) features not only the historic Savoy Jazz label but also the Denon, Denon Classics, Kin Kou and 429 Records labels. SLG is the North American unit of Columbia Music Entertainment (formerly Nippon Columbia), the oldest music company in Japan. Newly reorganized and now headed by Chairman Strauss Zelnick, Columbia Music Entertainment has re-emerged as a significant creative force with a stable of newly signed platinum-selling artists. SLG is one of the most successful marketers of adult music in the U.S. and focuses on classical, jazz, new age, world and adult alternative genres.

Sara on AC! This could be the start of something fantastic. It surprises me that she hasn't done anything AC already.

She hasn't, not that I know of. She has always made the point to stay country. She use to stress over that and stress to Joe Galante she wanted to remian country. I can easily name a hand full, possibly more that could have been sent to AC if she had allowed them to push.
Also this is the first step I think out of country music for her, she is currently working on some songs as a songwriter for 3 doors down. This comes after the duet atthe JCPenny Jam and her surprise appearance at a 3 doors down concert in Nashville.

I think this is a great idea....
----------------------------------- Nashville unveils plans for its own "Walk of Fame"
NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Reuters) - Nashville will honor leading music industry figures with a "Music City Walk of Fame," city officials announced on Thursday.
Open to performers, songwriters, musicians, producers and other outstanding figures, honorees will be chosen periodically by a special committee, Mayor Bill Purcell said at a news conference held near the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Purcell said the first inductees will be announced in November during the Country Music Association's annual "CMA Music Week," prior to the 40th Anniversary awards show.
A project of the city's convention and tourism bureau, the walkway of sidewalk plaques will stretch from downtown Nashville to Music Row.
Funding for the project is being provided by Gibson Guitar, the musical instrument manufacturer headquartered in Nashville.
"Hollywood may have the Hollywood Walk of Fame but ours will be the only one that truly sings," Gibson's chief executive Henry Juszkiewicz said. ---------------------

toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060804/COLUMNIST35/60803029/-1/NEWS14During his recent stop at Country Concert in Fort Loramie, Ohio, Phil Vassar spent the afternoon of the day of his performance holed up in a hotel room working on songs with songwriter Tim Nichols. It's a technique that Phil has employed for all of his albums. He brings songwriters out on the road with him, and they hang out, tossing ideas off of each other. "We've been turning out some good stuff. I just cut seven new tracks for a new album that's supposed to be out in a year. I feel good about the stuff I've been writing," Vassar said earlier this week. ___________________ In a blog posted on her MySpace, Ashley Monroe mentioned she was writing some more songs for her album and her next single will feature Ronnie Dunn.

An American football superstar, a legendary TV talk show host, an award-winning country music singing star, an ultra-conservative TV political pundit, a movie star and a former beauty queen are among the performers who will compete this season on “Dancing with the Stars,” premiering TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network. Hosted by Tom Bergeron (“Americas Funniest Home Videos”) and co-hosted by Samantha Harris (E! Entertainment), the new season brings an exciting lineup of even more celebrities than before. He will be partnered with “Dancing with the Stars” season two professional dance champion, Cheryl Burke. JERRY SPRINGER – Notorious TV talk show host of “The Jerry Springer Show,” talk radio broadcaster and politician. He will be partnered with Australian beauty, professional dancer Kym Johnson, who makes her series debut this season. Kym was the champion of the Australian “Dancing with the Stars.” Each week this season, the celebrity and professional dance pairs will perform live choreographed Latin and traditional ballroom dance routines to popular live music performed by a 15-piece orchestra led by musical director Harold Wheeler. The expert panel of beloved and sometimes maligned judges, former ballroom dancer Len Goodman and dancer/choreographers Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba, will return for a third season to weigh in on the pairs’ performances. The viewing public also gets to weigh in, by phoning in or voting online for their favorite performers. The scores are combined and the outcome will be announced during a results show the following evening. Each Wednesday the suspense will build as the dancing couple with the lowest combined score is eliminated on “Dancing with the Stars, The Results,” premiering WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET). Each results show will feature exciting live performances by award-winning, multi-platinum selling pop, country and Latin musical artists. In addition, the series emerged as one of TV’s Top 10 most-watched shows for the 2005-06 season (No. 7) and represents ABC’s top-rated Thursday night series in viewers and young adults in the last six seasons – since the 1999-00 season. Conrad Green is executive producer and Izzie Pick is co-executive producer. Rob Wade and Matilda Zoltowski are supervising producers. Alex Rudzinski directs. “Dancing with the Stars” is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HDTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound and Spanish audio via SAP. Sara Evans is going to be on Dancing With The Stars? I would have thought she would have been more the Skating With Celebrities type...
In all seriousness, I thought I heard she was going to be touring this fall. It wouldn't be possible to have too big of a tour, as that's got to be very time consuming with two live broadcasts a week AND preparing for the next week of competition...

Her fanclub president said her fall tour has been postponed until November and December spanning into next spring.

The Dancing With Stars thing is one way for her to stay in the limelight while giving her a chance to recover from the vocal problems she had earlier this year. Delaying the tour was probably going to happen anyway, unless her vocal issues have already been resolved?

Good for Reba, she deserves it. THe only thing that would make it better is if the only woman in country music to have sold more than Reba make an apperance. Reba presented SHania with the 1999 EOTY award and I think SHania loves REba just like Reba loves Shania. Now if Shania ever attended, that would boost ratings bigtime. But my guess is SHania is keeping up with her past actions of rarely doing public appearances unless she has a new album out or perfume out. THen again shania does live in Europe and has a global career so she has more to do than other singers.

"Now if Shania ever attended, that would boost ratings bigtime."
There is not one person out there that is not already going to watch this that will watch it if Shania makes an appearance. Let's be realistic here.

snapculture, oh please, you must be smoking pot!! lol!!! Shania has the biggest fan base in all of country music worldwide and most of her fans tune in just to see her. You bet your bottom dollar if she attended the hype would be bigger and the ratings better. Duh, why the heck do you think they promote their shows with Shania and use her picture and hype her name first whenever she decides to attend a show. Everyone knows that Shania brings in ratings and more people watch if one of the worlds biggest acts like Shania attends. And I wont' be watching if shania doesn't attend. So you better beleive it that more people will watch if a megastar like SHaina attends. Just look at SHania's 2002 cmt comeback special, it was the highest rated ever for people eager to watch and see Shania.

snapculture and others, we have tried reason and logic. We've tried asking. We've tried the moderators. (I've tried praying and voo doo dolls). But potter just won't go away. The other alternative is just to ignore it completely. Don't respond to any more of its posts. But this requires everyone to do the same.

Leave Potter alone. Potter is always entitled. Potter is the only one allowed to accuse people 'of smoking pot' or 'being delirious' or otherwise brain-damaged. Potter can point to that particular exemption written especially for him in the board rules, if anyone dares to disagree. Right, potter? Potter will show you all who's boss.
