This is actually really good. Infinity times better than what I was expecting. Probably my second favorite song by them after "You Are A Tourist".

Not bad from one listen, but it didn't appeal to me like "Underneath the Sycamore" or "Crooked Teeth" did. I usually end up liking their singles and albums decently enough, so I'm sure this will grow on me just fine.

This is what I expected from them. Not bad at all.

This is good but I agree that it's not very radio-friendly.

This is pretty good, as is always the case with their lead singles.

I think it is pretty radio friendly and I'm liking it more than I thought I would. the synths add a nice indie essence vibe to the song.

Was just going to post the update above. You beat me to it :( Heh, no worries, mate! As for the song itself: it's a pleasant listen but lacks the same punch that some of their past singles gave me. Then again, never really got into Death Cab much beyond casual listening (I will rep hard for the Postal Service's Give Up, however). Could be a grower.

Great first day update. Setting up for a debut slightly higher than "Lampshades on Fire".

This is really enjoyable. I quite like it! I loved Transatlanticism, Plans, and Narrow Stairs, but kinda fell off and missed their last album. I will have to check it out this week. Excited for a double whammy of new material.

Great start, hopefully this can be a huge smash hit like "In This Diary" by The Ataris.

I don't know what it is but I'm just not as consistently into DCFC as many of their peers. They have moments but I guess Ben's vocals kind of bug me. What are their peers? The whole mid-90s Pacific Northwest indie rock scene, featuring lots of acts who have been associated with Sub Pop, Barsuk and Kill Rock Stars at one point. Like a more emo Built to Spill or less literary Decemberists, even if that group came a bit later.

It's a strange day, the roses are in bloom... Also thought about "The Epilogue" when listened to this for the first time. May be the reason why I like it a lot.

Pretty dark sounding, honestly. Even darker than the singles from Narrow Stairs. That said, this is a very cool track, and I hope this can go Top 5, despite it not being extremely radio-friendly. Maybe even hit #1.

I agree with those hinting that it reminds me of CROSSES//"The Epilogue" and that this is a pretty lovely, moody song from Death Cab. It also reminds me a bit of Gotye's "The Only Thing I Know" but slower.
I think it does lack a bit of a cathartic payoff.

Yes! It's going to be difficult to top Transatlanticism or Plans, but Black Sun sounds promising. It's difficult to prospect the popularity this album will gain though. As some previous posters mentioned in this thread; anything that isn't modern is unlikely to gain listeners.. Gloom indie pop rock (long description) just isn't that popular anymore.
