Sorry for the lateness. I was just finishing watching "Big Brother" and if you have seen this show, you might be familiar with a certain houseguest who happens to be related to this week's guest host. :)

With 10 extras, it's somewhat unexpected that "The Way" isn't among them, as it's Ariana's only significant previous AT40 hit. She does at least get to announce herself in the top 10 twice, as well as a third time as a featured artist.
"Shake It Off" gets an official Fresh Buzz designation this time; it should enter high up on the chart soon, probably next week. Katy Perry just skirts a week off the chart, while "Talk Dirty"s reign as chart dean will probably be brief, to be replaced by "Classic" (eventually it should be "Latch", in the top 5 in its 24th week.) Meanwhile, the entire top 5 is by foreign acts, three British, one Canadian, and one Norwegian.

You watch Big Brother too? I'm a huge fan of that show! Yep, the guy you're referring to is Frankie Grande, a YouTube personality and the older brother of Ariana Grande. So four debuts this week, and the next songs that are getting close to debuting are Pitbull's "Fireball" and Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda". "Anaconda" is a huge hit but I don't get why it's not getting such massive airplay like "All About That Bass" for example. Besides, G.R.L's hit is not even close to hitting the Top 40 and I doubt it's gonna make it in. Also, this is the second time in three weeks that Eminem and Rihanna have an extra in the middle of the show together. I don't get why AT40 is throwing all these old songs into the show instead of playing them in the extra spots. And "The Way" wasn't played during Ariana's presence because it was played three weeks ago as a Two For One.

WOW! :O LOVE Ariana but NOT Frankie. I'm not a big fan of his gameplay ALTHOUGH he seems like a fun guy OUTSIDE of the house. I'm rooting for Nicole/Donny as of now. (I usually root for the underdogs btw) but unfortunately one of them is for sure to leave this thursday and did you hear what happen to Victoria on Saturday? :'( EDIT: Just saw last night's episode.....This season has hit me so emotionally at this point. From Derrick and Frankie's grandfathers passing away to Brittany finally seeing her kids on live tv to Victoria's medical condition where she literally fainted from her tooth problem and it was revealed she had low blood sugar on top of that (I watch the live feeds as well.). I mean talk about an emotional roller-coaster ride.

Big Brother 16:) At first glance this looks like it could be a catch-up week, though it could just be me.

Yes, I've been watching "Big Brother" since Season 1. Only downers so far were Rachel winning Season 13 (and topped by Andy winning Season 15).
I haven't been active on that thread though (I don't like to know spoilers until CBS airs them; I got to watch the live feeds several years ago but I noticed anything intended to air on CBS later gets blacked out; no fun in that).

I don't get why AT40 is throwing all these old songs into the show instead of playing them in the extra spots. The optional songs are the same for both CHR and Hot AC and Eminem isn't a very good fit for HAC. And if I'm not mistaken, this is the first time "Love The Way You Lie" has been played on AT40 since it fell off the chart. Or since it was on a year-end show. If it was a "2 For 1," I forgot to include it in my database.

Who is ready for the not so funny excuses why Ryan isn't in the studio? Like somebody posted in last week's show's thread, it isn't funny. They should really just host the show, and not include that.

I hate Frankie. I'm glad they are finally showing his trueself on the episodes and now he knows that majority of the viewers don't like him. Andy winning last season was very boring but for no one to figure him out was pretty epic gameplay.

I mean talk about an emotional roller-coaster ride. Yeah. I actually admire Frankie. He's a very fun and flamboyant person, but he just gets too much attention on Big Brother-related media, and it doesn't seem fair to everyone. Plus, Donny was a favorite for BB viewers, but it's a shame that he got evicted. The remaining houseguests include Christine, who's been criticized by her gameplay and looks. Plus, there's Derrick, the mastermind of the house and Cody, Derrick's compadre who's considered a floater, trying not to get blood on his hands. Then, there's Nicole, probably America's favorite female, based on her gameplay. And you got Caleb, the supercilious 'beast-mode cowboy' and Victoria, who could be possible one of the worst players in BB history. She's lucky that she's still in the game.

Actually, all I heard was Ariana said that she was filling in for Ryan. That's all she said basically the whole time. No corny jokes about his absence. The computer voices I think, said something, but I don't remember what was said.

What a week for Ariana!!! Not only AT40 hosting duties, she was the co-host on I-Heart Radio countdown (top 20) show along with the host of the Sirius Hits 1 Weekend Countdown (with Ariana Grande) (top 45 hits). She also radio-hosted Sirius Hits 1 one hour Poppin' new music show. No doubt she was competing with herself for listeners this week with streamers and satellite radio users. Great weekend to be a Ariana fan!

The sad thing for Ariana even with all the countdown shows not one time did she get the chance to say that she had the #1 song of the week.

I remember watching Big Brother a few years ago lol...didn't watch this season though...anyway, other than the obvious Dynamite, what are some of the longest-running ever songs on the chart? (I'm guessing Radioactive, Counting Stars and Can't Hold Us are among them, I remember CHU being on for a while, and the other two had great longevity on every chart)

I don't know if that is the record for CHR or not. I have no idea what the longest-running song is on The HOT AC format.

I think that Ariana did a very good job, and the show had lots of fresh music. We got "This Is How We Do" and also "This Is How We Roll". She didn't recap last week's top 3, and launched right into #40. There was a regular sounding guy (not Ryan) who was "helping" computer lady this week. She said that Ryan does a guest spot on Ariana's new album. Then "just kidding...kinda" whatever that means. Ms. Grande played snippets(her word) from the new album. Computer lady also said that Ariana's the only artist on the chart that's Ryan's height, and Ariana said a couple of times that Ryan is sleeping in all day. Which I guess means both Saturday and Sunday.

The IHeart station is doing new shows on Friday? I checked Thursday, and the past week show was playing.

"Dynamite" was 72 weeks or something, "Party Rock Anthem" and I think "Give Me Everything" were around 50-60 weeks. A lot of songs were in the 40-50 range ("Lights", "Can't Hold Us" (43 weeks), "Everybody Talks" (40 weeks)", etc.).

It is the, current, AT40 record holder for chart longevity ("Party Rock Anthem" is in second place with 67 weeks). The longevity fun started with the current era of AT40 in 2004 when "Here Without You" by 3 Doors Down spent 50 weeks on, breaking the 45 week record established by Blues Traveler's "Runaround" in 1996. Since then, there have been lots of long chart runs (to be expected with no recurrent rule).

On Hot AC, the same Dynamite and Forget You and presumably Rolling in the Deep and Somebody that I Used to Know as well as I Gotta Feeling, Ho Hey, and Just the Way You Are were on for quite a while. As expected, Hot AC chart runs are typically longer than CHR/Pop ones. STIUTK was on for 69 weeks I think, RITD for 62, Dynamite for 66, FU for 57, IGF for 83 (technically 85 because for some reason it didn't appear on 2010 year-end countdown despite being in the top 40 the entire year 2010 and it would still be in top 40 during those two weeks of year-end countdown), HH for 62, and JTWYA for 68. Surprisingly JGMAR wasn't even on for a year...I may have missed some...but yeah I Gotta Feeling might be the record holder. Oh boy, that took a really long time to find out lol. And I can't believe Counting Stars is already out of AT40 before even dropping out of the Hot 100! That was, like, the longevity champ of songs lol...
