What's funny though is some people will defend a certain pop star that sings completely off key to a backing track or when another pop star comes on stage for 10 seconds lip syncing the entire time saying it was the performance of the century. But I suppose when you've been bestowed "Voice of Our Generation" your standards are quite high. :kii: Don't know what any of this means.

Don't know what any of this means. I hope you're being sarcastic. I'm not. I'm unable to translate that passive aggressive vagueness and I genuinely have no idea which scenarios that poster is speaking of.

Christina. The range, power, and emotion in her singing eclipses Ariana, imo. Stripped is a good example of her versatility.
Ariana has a good voice, but I don't see a lot of depth to her singing.

Christina all the way. Ariana is okay, but, um, personally I think pop music was better during that time in the late '90s and early 2000s. Matter of fact, my mp3 Player maily consists of pop/r&b/hip-hop songs from the mid-80s until about 2003.

As much as I like Ariana,I'm gonna have to vote Christina on this. I have seen many Ariana performances but none can match what Christina did in her prime althrough. From the year 2000 Christina in her prime.Still a good performance to this day. I'd say B2B was Christina in her prime. Anyway, Christina easily. Ya'll do the most with Ariana's voice.

Ariana's a great vocalist, but she's not even better than present day Christina. Christina has severely damaged her voice, but she'd f**k Ariana up. These days the only thing Christina could f**k up is a Golden Corral. Fat jokes about Christina are so 2011/12. Can we try to use a little more imagination?

www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBWflcmr4-wHer solo proves she's definitely still got it. I started to not become a fan of her due to the oversinging but I think she has the ability to get back on track.

Lol this better be shade. Such a terrible performance. Whoever is responsible for making this a lasting thing by putting this on whatever that list was has absolutely no idea what they're talking about.

Except for that s*hit whistle note, i hear a pretty damn good performance. I hadn't actually watched this in years, and revisiting it now, I disagree with my word choice. But the moment before her switch to head voice (not a whistle note there) and the moments after are pretty off. I don't enjoy her perpetual growl throughout this performance--I think it would have been much more effective if she had used that more sparingly. Toward the end of the song it goes a bit off the rails and I'm not even sure what she's singing anymore, but it is on key. Per usual with Christina, it all just feels too much, but it is not all bad by any means.

That Christina performance is still terrible imo. Even after all these years, those flat notes and screams towards the end just ruin everything for me. Hearing her forcing those notes out just makes me wanna get down and pray for her vocal chords. @2:40

Neither are among my favorite vocalists but Christina is one of my least favorites ever so I’m going with Ariana.

I find both to be beyond overrated as vocalists. But I lean towards Ariana, she's the more consistent singer. Christina has given so many downright bad/ugly vocal performances over the years.

Um seriously its not even close. Ari wins on everything. Range, consistency, belt, falsetto, whistle register. Literally ari does not have a bad performance. Watch youtube compilations for aris worst vocals, and you will see that on those clips its just like one note that she missed, but the video creators have to be that picky because she doesn't have bad performances. Also aris ease is insane. She makes it sound like she's not even trying. Not even mariah can do that. Also xtina dodges a lot more notes than ari does, again another category where she even beats mariah let alone xtina. Oh yeah and just to top all of that, she hasn't lip synced since 2015, again another category where she beats mariah let alone xtina.
You're seriously comparing xtina to ari. Maybe compare mariah to ari. That's a lot more fair.
Thank you for reading that I know that was long. Sorry.

I feel like I read this page 6 years ago.
Oh wait.
But anyways, hard to tell now, since Ariana has 6 years extra of performances since this topic was made. Still say Christina at her peak.

Reflection 2020 pretty much ended this conversation. And several tracks on Liberation. I'm not going to knock Ariana because she's given many bops and she's attempted to lift up other artists like Gaga, Normani, Troye, etc. But still, I can't pretend she's ever delivered anything as gorgeous as "Unless It's With You," for just one example. And that's being fair in comparing Christina's more recent work to her, rather than comparing the two at the same age, when Christina would've demolished her. And honestly, I see Ariana as weaker vocally than most of the big-voice divas (Christina, Kelly, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, etc.). She fits more in line with Britney, Rihanna, Katy, etc., whose discographies are more juvenile, even though she's a better vocalist than those types.

This is hard. No hate and I enjoy quite a bit of their music but both are flawed for me. I mean they sing better than majority but for "vocalist" they have flaws that irritate me and things they do well. I love ariana tone. She sounds better than Christina. Whose tone annoys me. But on the flip side I hate how Ariana mumbles and her lack of emotion which Christina Aguilera beats her in. Christina Aguilera can make you feel a song.
In the end I'll go with Ariana because I truly cant stand those annoying and always the same runs and growls that sound painful that Xtine does. Ariana has more tact, Christina overdoes it but in 2020 even Ariana technique is nowhere near her debut album and before. But her pleasant sounding voice never gets annoying so I'll listen to her between the two.
But let's be honest if we talking vocalists since the 2000s give me Kelly Clarkson and Fantasia over these two any day.
