^ "Dream Big" is one of my all-time favorite songs. Great harmonies. Stellar melody and amazing imagery. Such a shame that it only got to #25 on R&R in 2005 since it was one of the finest songs that year and that's saying something since 2005 was a fantastic year for country music IMO. Next Up: Eli Young Band - The Fight

^Solid track from a very solid album by a very solid group. Why oh why did they choose Say Goodnight over the other magnificent cuts like this one, or Skeletons? Still though great choice Sabre14. Next: Brad Paisley: The Cigar Song m.youtube.com/watch?v=uGUAeVxFpI0

One of Brad’s “forgotten classics”, I’ve always enjoyed this song. Great storytelling and I enjoy the instrumentation - he would be well served cutting down the kinetic instrumentation on some of his newer songs. Brad really could do no wrong his first five albums. Still puts out some great songs. Josh Turner - South Carolina Low Country www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxCdZtWxDnw

^Very good song. Great vocals, great melody, organic-sounding instrumentation and production. Josh is one of those artists whose album cuts tend to be better than his singles, IMO. Next: Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Propinquity www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a_Xq-ZqOy0

^ I'm a huge Sturgill Simpson and this might be my favorite song of his. The beginning and end have a great psychedelic feel. Sturgill sounds great and the lyrics are top notch. There instrumental parts are unbelievable with some great nuances in the production. A+

I'll keep this thread going. Not my favorite Strait song (my fav is "Run" btw), but still classic Strait. Hard to go wrong with King George though. I'll stick with old school (ok, late 80's early 90's) Country with one of my all time favorite songwriters/artist. Next: Skip Ewing - Autumn's Not That Cold.

Haven't done any of these yet, so thought I'd join in. gurustu, that song was amazing. I'm only familiar with Skip Ewing as a songwriter but not with his own work. I'll be adding that song to my future fall/winter playlists and it also makes me want to search out some of his other music as well as his Christmas music as he has the perfect voice for holiday songs. Thanks for that! I'm going to post a song I only became familiar with very recently. I'm almost ashamed to admit I was only familiar with Gary Stewart's "She's Acting Single (I'm Drinking Double)" and was never much a fan of that song, but a friend recommend a song by him called "Drinkin' Thing" and I've been hooked on finding his material. With that, I'll post the one song that I've really enjoyed listening to. Gary Stewart - An Empty Glass

^^ Good ballad-type of song. Could easily pass for a Leo Sayer or any early/mid-70's super-group. Not to keen on Gary's voice, though. Gave it a Spotify like. NB: There is a close to 6 min. live at Billy Bob's Texas version on Spotify which is great; it's got additional strumming, blues harp, sax and longer instrumental interludes. Could neither find the next song on You Toube nor Soundcloud. Hope that Spotify will work: Wade Bowen - Hungover

^ The YouTube link was taken down but I have heard the song and it's definitely one of Wade's best which is saying something since it seems like everything he does his outstanding. Such a shame his lone major label single failed to make an impact. Next Up: Keith Anderson - Plan B

Forgive me for posting about "Private Conversation," as it's not a new song to me, but rather an old favorite. Many years ago, when I used to work at a grocery store, they used to frequently play this song over the loudspeakers as part of their in-store music. It's definitely a memorable song for me. Every time I hear it, I'm reminded of that job and good times. Lyle seems to be an overrated, yet underrated singer. By that, I mean that he gets way more attention than someone with his level of radio/chart success typically gets, but yet it's still less that he should get, based on talent alone (in my opinion). He still pops up every now and then on one of the late night talk shows. Next: Leland Martin & Freddie Hart - "Freddie's Heart" www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cbGemNCbRA

Leland Martin is to the core traditional Country. I'm actually not the biggest fan of traditional country (however I do love me some Waylon, but that's more Outlaw Country); none the less it's a good song for being traditional.
I'll keep the ball rolling with a non-country, yet has some Country and Americana influences in his sound; with an artist some of you may not be familiar with. However his "Sweet Somewhere Bound" album is fantastic and I personally think one to add to the collection.
Here's Jackie Greene with his title track "Sweet Somewhere Bound"

Had not heard of Jackie Greene. Nice voice, the song was a bit minimalistic for me, but I could see enjoying the album. I'll have to check out his stuff. I'm going way back on this one. From Dan Fogelberg's brief sojourn into Bluegrass in the mid 80's. He cracked the Country Top 60 with this and made the Top 40 with Down the Road/Mountain Pass. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPQgW3I0cqI

"No News" might be my favorite song from Lonestar ("Everything's Changed" and "Unusually Unusual" are great as well). It doesn't matter how long it's been since I've heard that song, I still can sing every lyric. Next Up: Trace Adkins - I Came Here To Live
